Four years and eight months after Day Three
One day later
Two days before Day Six
Myers' apartment, Oakland
As it grew lighter outside, the siblings were busy preparing for the day ahead. Once they had finished their jobs in Oakland, they would travel north to Canada.
"Sean will be here soon," Nina spoke as she placed her phone on the table.
Knowing what that meant, Alex began getting ready to leave for the warehouse. They were trying to stick as much to her plan as possible and that meant wasting as little time as possible. "I'll be more than happy never to come back to California," he replied before finishing off his coffee. The state had been a place of violence, trauma and sadness for him. Even the good times had often seemed to be only a respite.
"He'll not send us back here any time soon," Nina replied. Schulze had to have known how they viewed the state but it wasn't as if she could have refused the job.
Making his way to the door, Alex noticed his gun on the table and wondered if he should take it. Schulze's men would have guns, but four guns would be better than three. Deciding that he could risk leaving it behind, he left the apartment. A few minutes later, the door opened again as Sean entered. Nina smiled at him, knowing that everything was on time and going to plan so far.
CTU Los Angeles, Los Angeles
The helicopter was disappearing into the sky as Tony and Michelle watched. Both of them felt hopeful but anxious, knowing how much of a risk it was to go after someone like Nina Myers. Curtis and his team would be in constant contact, but all three knew a lot could go wrong.
Curtis himself was deep in thought. Tony had told him all about the Myers siblings and what they had done. He had heard of Nina before, but the information had been scant. Tony's first-hand experience of the woman had given him a very good idea of who she was. It also made him worry for his team, many of whom he was close to.
As Tony and Michelle walked back into the bullpen, Milo had arrived for work. Unaware of the raid, he sat down at his desk and logged into his computer. Checking the time, he mentally reminded himself to get in touch with Nina at some point.
Michelle had stopped to talk to Chloe whilst Tony was eager to return to his workstation. Curtis would keep them updated on the raid and he wanted to know everything that was going on. Finally, a chance to bring Nina to justice had come but he knew all too well how she could manipulate a situation. As for Alex, he wanted him brought to justice too but Nina had to be the main priority. Even if it meant letting him slip out of their grasp.
Warehouse, Oakland
Climbing out of the car, Alex glanced around before heading towards Schulze's men. The trio, who he had met before, consisted of two Germans and an American.
"Nina should be here soon," he spoke before taking another look around. Everything seemed to be going to plan so far but he couldn't help but worry that CTU knew where they were. The nerves wouldn't go away until he and Nina were far away from California, he knew that for sure.
One of the German men noticed his nervousness and frowned. "Has the captured man talked?" He asked, but Alex could only shrug in response. Nina had not confirmed it either way, but the answer was clear as a convoy of cars sped into view. Almost as soon as the cars stopped, armed men and women jumped out.
"Dammit, it's CTU!" Alex cursed before taking cover behind a large crate. He was regretting not bringing his gun but knew that there was still a chance of escape. Pulling out his phone, he sent a quick message to Nina before peering over the crate. Schulze's men were firing at the agents from their own hiding places, although at least one of them was dead. Panic rose within him and he knew that if Nina didn't see the message, she would be driving straight into CTU's hands. Taking a deep breath, he knew he had to focus on his main priority more than anything else. That being getting the hell out of there.
Myers' apartment, Oakland
Nina cursed as she threw the phone onto the table. There was little she or Sean could do for Alex and Schulze's men. Forcing down the panic she was feeling, she knew she had to focus on things she could control.
Sean looked at her with concern. "What is it?"
"CTU have raided the warehouse," Nina explained as she grabbed a bag. She doubted they knew of the apartment but had no intention of hanging around.
Knowing what that meant, Sean grabbed a nearby box. "We can go to my place, it's not too far away from here. Adam didn't know about it, so neither will the feds," he replied. He couldn't blame the kid for breaking, he had never been particularly tough. He did blame himself, though, for his man getting caught. The original plan for was him to go to LA but Adam had convinced him that he was capable. The younger man's desire to impress his boss had cost him his freedom.
Warehouse, Oakland
As the last of Schulze's men fell, the gunshots ceased but Curtis knew it was far from over. The Myers siblings or others could be inside the warehouse they had not yet entered. Of course, if they weren't in there then the raid would be a failure but then he noticed a man slipping around the corner. Convinced that it had to be Alex Myers, he gestured towards his team for them to follow him.
Alex was feeling a little less nervous as he made his way around the warehouse. It seemed that the agents had left much of the area unsecured. Escape seemed to be all but guaranteed until he heard the cocking of a gun behind him.
"Alex Myers?" Curtis asked as the man in front of him froze in place.
Alex knew that it was useless to do anything other than surrender at that point. Lifting his hands, he turned around. "That would be me," he confirmed to the agent. He knew what waited for him back at CTU but he still worried about Nina. The longer this raid lasted, the more likely she was to get herself caught.
"Where's Nina?" Curtis demanded, watching for any sign of deception from Alex.
"She's not here, you won't find her," Alex replied, but he wasn't sure about the second part. The look on the agent's face suggested that he believed him.
Moments later, a handcuffed Alex sat alone in the back of an SUV as the agents completed their search. He was watching the nearby road, hoping not to see any more cars arriving. Sighing to himself, he tried his best not to think about Nina or of his impending return to CTU.
