WHAT IF DEKU WAS THE SON OF MIRKO?

Chapter 6

U.A. - Practice fields (50 Meter Dash)

"Runners on your mark!" A robotic voice announced to the two students that were waiting on the starting line, preparing themselves to go on the signal. One of the students was Ida and the other was a short girl with a relatively slender build and had notably large hands. Her appearance is rather frog-like; she had a very wide mouth, which dips down a little in the middle just like that of a common frog, and oval-shaped eyes with large, black irises, her lower eyelashes were visibly pronounced.

"Ready!? POW!" the robot said as it simulated a gunshot noise to signal the runners to start. Immediately Ida activated his quirk making smoke rush out of his engines on his calves and launching himself forward to increase his running speed, while the green-haired girl started to hop forward like a frog.

"3.04 seconds!" the robot said as Ida passed a motion sensor and skid to a halt after passing the finish line.

'At 50 meters I can only get up to third gear.' Ida stated in his mind.

Tenya Ida, his Quirk: Engine! His legs allow him to increase his speed significantly.

The frog girl who came in right behind Ida scored 5.58 seconds. She didn't express much emotion on her face as she turned around and walked back toward the class.

Tsuyu Asui, her Quirk: Frog! She can do anything a frog can do.

'Well, he's definitely in his element, but speed won't help him in every test.' Aizawa stated in his mind as he analyzed the student.

"I'll lighten up my clothes! Oh, and my shoes too!" Uraraka said as she stood on the starting line next to a plane-looking blonde-haired boy with a large tail that resembled a lion coming from his lower back. Uraraka touched her clothes and shoes and activated her quirk which made them weightless.

Ochaco Uraraka, her Quirk: Zero Gravity! Anything she touches with all five fingers she can make weightless.

"Ready? Pow!" the robot sounded again for the runners to start. Uraraka ran forward and the blonde beside her used his tail to propel himself to go faster.

"5.49 Seconds!" the robot said as the blonde passed the finish line first.

"7.15 Seconds!" the robot repeated again as Uraraka passed.

Uraraka came to a halt and smiled as she pressed her fingertips together to release the effects of her quirk. 'Well, at least that's faster than Junior High.' she stated in her mind with a proud smile.

The next two students went up to the starting line after Uraraka and the blonde student had finished.

One student had curly pink hair, pink skin, yellow horns, and black eyes with yellow pupils. The other student was the blonde from the entrance exam, he was wearing a belt around his stomach that had a blue circular orb on the front.

"Nice attempt, Mon Amis, but you're just not showing enough panache!" the sparkly blonde said as he turned to face away from the finish line.

"Ready!? POW!" the robot said as it simulated a gunshot noise to signal the runners to start once again.

Immediately the blonde jumped into the air and shot a sparkly blue laser from his belt, making him fly backward at high speeds due to the recoil.

"Let your power shine!" the blonde yelled as he soared through the air.

Yuga Aoyama, his Quirk: Naval Laser! A laser that shoots through his belly button, but he can't do it forever.

Aoyama fell down right before he got to the finish line and so the pink girl skated past him on her bare feet while secreting some sort of clear fluid from her soles. The sparkly blonde attempted to get back in first by shooting his laser once more but the girl had already passed the finish line, and so he came in behind her.

"5.14 seconds!" the robot said as Aoyama passed the finish line. He had dirt all over his school uniform due to falling.

"Shooting my beautiful beam for more than a second hurts my tummy." he said with a sparkly smile as he faced the rest of the class. Everyone only seemed to be either confused or weirded out by the way he phrased it.

'What a tool' the class all stated in their minds.

'Testing the upper limits of their powers helps me assess their room for growth. It becomes clear what they can and can't do. Their true potential.' Aizawa assessed inside his head.

Next was Izuku and Bakugo, both of them were crouched in the starting position and had competitive smirks on their faces.

"Ready!? POW!"

"Burst speed!" Bakugo yelled while positioning his palms to face behind him and emitting explosions to propel himself forward.

Katsuki Bakugo, his Quirk: Explosion! He sweats nitroglycerin which he can ignite from his palms.

"Lunar Dash!" Izuku yelled as he slammed both of his feet into the ground making small footholds for him to leap off of and then rocketed forward after kicking off of the makeshift footholds. This sent Izuku past Bakugo which made the angry blonde grunt and push himself harder by making bigger explosions to propel himself, but it was already too late as Izuku passed the finish line first.

Izuku Usagiyama, his Quirk: Rabbit! He can do whatever a rabbit can, but better!

"3.04 seconds!" the robot announced as Izuku passed the finish line and skid to a halt.

"4.01 seconds!" the robot announced again as Bakugo finished.

"Tch!" Bakugo snarled and glared at Izuku but then stalked off towards the class after doing so.

Aizawa eyed the blonde as he walked back to the class. 'It seems this student could have an inferiority and a superiority complex. That's not good when working in the field, there will always be those who will do better than you or beat you to the punch in this competitive career. I hope he gets an awakening soon or he won't cut it to be a real hero despite his powerful quirk.' he voiced in his head.

Izuku walked back to the class as well to be greeted with praise from Uraraka and Ida.

"Wow Usagi! You were so fast, that I could barely keep track of you!" Uraraka said in a cheerful tone.

"I must say Usagi, you truly are fast, perhaps you may even be faster than me." Ida complimented as he swung his arm in a chopping motion.

"Well, my speed was fast on takeoff, but unlike you, I started to slow down, without anything to jump on to increase my acceleration I can't get to my max speed like you can. We have very different styles. Plus, you weren't at your full speed, I could tell." Izuku responds to Ida.

"I see. I hope I can see you at your full speed someday then. I would like to see how fast it is compared to mine." Ida replied back.

"Maybe you will someday stickler, but you better hope it's not when I'm coming at your face." Izuku taunts.

Test 2: Grip strength

Izuku squeezed the grip strength and got 256 kg on the test.

"Wow, man! You got some crazy strength!" a spikey red-haired boy exclaimed as he saw Izuku's score from over his shoulder.

"My quirk gives me a minor strength boost to my whole body even though my real power is in my legs." Izuku explains as he turned around to face the boy.

"That's so cool! I wish mine gave me a permanent strength boost!" he responded.

Izuku was about to ask for the boy's name, but he had been interrupted by a shout close by.

"Wow! You hit 540 kilograms?!" a boy with black hair and a triangular smile said in astonishment.

"Yeah, like a muscle‐y octopus.!" a short kid with purple balls for hair exclaimed.

"Grrr!" Bakugo grumbled after he saw Usagi's and the multi-armed guy's score while his was only 72 kg.

Test 3: Standing long jump

Aoyama shot his laser to propel himself to the other side with ease.

Bakugo shot straight across using his explosions.

Izuku used his jump power to clear the sandbox easily.

Test 4: Side to side jumps

The purpled-haired short boy had used the balls from his hair to bounce back and forth extremely fast but was still beaten by Izuku with his incredible speed, training, endurance, and stamina, easily outpacing him.

Test 5: Ball throw

Izuku didn't have to do this one since he had already done it.

Uraraka simply stood in the circle and activated her quirk on the ball when she threw it. The ball kept going higher and higher without any signs of stopping. Eventually, the ball completely disappeared from sight.

Aizawa checks his phone and then reveal's it to the class who all gasp in shock.

"Infinity!?" practically the whole class yells out loud in astonishment.

"That's insane! How's that possible?!" a blonde-haired boy with a black lightning bolt through it yelled in disbelief.

The last one was Bakugo. He walked into the circle and stared at the ball for a moment.

"Hurry up, you're wasting precious time." Aizawa stated bluntly.

"Tch." Bakugo clenched his teeth in annoyance but obeyed, he wound back his arm for a throw.

'I won't let Usagi beat me at everything! I have to win this time against that bastard!' Bakugo shouted to himself in his mind.

Bakugo flung his arm forward for the biggest throw he could make while pointing his other hand in the direction he was about to throw.

"Diiiieee!" Bakugo shouted at the top of his lungs as he threw the ball and created two explosions from both of his hands. The shockwave pushed some of the students back and some had to cover their ears from the loud blast. The ball soared into the sky half-singed. Bakugo revealed an evil smile as he watched the ball fly and hit the ground from over the trees past the U.A. practice field.

Aizawa's phone beeps and he shows the score to the class. The number displayed shows "1,415.6 meters" at that moment Bakugo stiffened. He was filled with disbelief that he didn't score above Usagi in a single test so far, and then he was overcome with rage as he looked down to the ground and clutched his fists while walking back to the class.

The rest of the test went on and in each one Bakugo was bested by Izuku, it was infuriating him, was he really this weak compared to him? He questioned himself.

"All right, time to give you your results. I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already. I'll just pull up the whole list. It's not worth going over each individual's score." Aizawa said in his usual bored expression as he displayed a blue hologram that had all students' names on it listed from 1 through 20.

Izuku Usagiyama

Shoto Todoroki

Katsuki Bakugo

Tenya Ida

'Wow, I can't believe I didn't get first. That girl's quirk is just something else.' Izuku said in his mind as he gave a glance towards a raven-haired girl, who he assumed to be Momo Yaoyorozu.

"NOOOOO!" a shout rang out and shocked everyone as they all turned around to see what was going on.

"I-I I CAN'T GO HOME YET! I HAVEN'T EVEN TOUCHED A GIRL'S BREASTS YET! HOW AM I GOING TO START MY HAREM NOW?!" a short, purple-haired boy was screaming and crying blood as he looked up at the hologram on his knees. He got many uncomfortable glances towards him due to his remarks, mainly from the girls.

"And I was lying, no one's going home. That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all in the tests." Aizawa said with a devious smile.

"Huuh!" the class shouted in unison.

"I'm surprised you didn't figure that out. I'm sorry. I guess I probably should have said something." Momo stated to the class.

'Ya you should have.' part of the class voiced in their head.

"That was pretty nerve‐wracking, huh?" the boy with black hair and eyes, with a triangular smile asked.

"Nah, I'm always down for a challenge." a red-haired kid said as he pumped his fist.

Bakugo stood there quietly staring at the ground, which seemed uncharacteristic for him and Izuku noticed. He was about to walk over to him and ask him about it, but then a voice interrupted him.

"I'M SAVED! I CAN STILL GET A HAREM OF CUTE GIRLS! I'LL GET TO TOUCH TH.." the purpled-haired midget was stopped when Aizawa wrapped his scarf around him.

"I said no one was getting expelled, but I cannot overlook your actions. I will be giving you disciplinary training and extra work for the next week, understand?!" Aizawa said in an intimidating tone and used his quirk, which made his eyes turn red and his hair start to levitate. The small boy nodded his head in rapid succession as fear overtook him.

"That's it. We're done for the day. Pick up a syllabus in the classroom. Read it over before tomorrow morning." Aizawa said in his usual tone as he unwrapped his scarf from Mineta and walked off.

"Wow, I can't believe he lied to us about expulsion! It really made me nervous!" Uraraka spoke out loud.

"Indeed! As a teacher, something like that should be unacceptable! But this is U.A. after all, so I guess it's understandable that they want us to try our hardest!" Ida said as he fixed his glasses.

"He wasn't lying." Izuku said bluntly. Which shocked both Ida and Uraraka and some of the class that overheard.

"Y-you mean he would have actually expelled one of us?!" Uraraka said in a shaky tone.

"What do you mean Usagiyama? Surely a teacher would not expel one of us the first day just for having less capability in a physical test." Momo said as she walked closer to Izuku.

"How could you tell that he wasn't lying, man?" the red-haired boy asked with interest.

"His heartbeat." Izuku said as he pointed towards his ears.

"If I focus, I can listen to someone's heartbeat and I can tell if they are lying." Izuku explained.

"Wow, so cool!" a pink-haired girl complimented.

"But what if he was just good at hiding his intent?" a blonde-haired student with a lightning bolt through his hair questioned.

"I thought about that, but then his heart was beating faster when he had said it was all a logical ruse, meaning that it was probably a lie." Izuku explained more.

"Th-that means! I could have been expelled!" Mineta screamed in terror.

Later that day…

Izuku was walking away from the school to his apartment alone, going over what had happened today inside his head until someone shouted from behind him and interrupted his thoughts.

"Hey! Wait up Usagi!"

Izuku slowly turned around to see 3 people approaching him.

Uraraka was running to catch up and behind her was Ida and beside him was the spikey red-haired kid that he didn't catch the name of.

"Do you three need something?" Izuku questioned while looking at them in a confused manner.

As Uraraka caught finally caught up, she started catching her breath as she responded.

"Oh... No, not really. We just wanted to talk to you while we head home." Uraraka said between breaths.

"I must say Usagi, you are truly a model student of this prestigious school!" Ida said with his right hand going up and down in a chopping motion.

"Yeah dude, you were totally manly out there!" the red-haired kid yelled with a smile, the boy has red eyes that match the color of his hair and sharp teeth.

"I never got your name." Izuku said as he turned towards the red-haired boy.

"Oh, my bad!" he said as he rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.

"My name is Kirishima! Nice to meet you!" Kirishima said as he reached out a hand towards Izuku.

"My name is Izuku Usagiyama, but you can call me Usagi." Izuku said as he took the boy's hand and shook it with a grin. Izuku knew he liked this guy already, he seemed like an outgoing person.

The four of them walked to their homes and prepared for the next day...

U.A. - English Class

Even though it's a hero school, everyone still had to learn the basics of general education, just like any other high school, and so many students were hit by immense disappointment or boredom. Izuku was the latter since he was smart and didn't really need to pay attention in class. Izuku sat there dozing off while Present Mic went on about English grammar.

He was truly thankful that he was decent at regular school subjects but the memory of why he was smart sent shivers down his spine. His mother would beat the lessons into him and scold him anytime he slacked off, saying something about not wanting him to be a delinquent like she was and even auntie Ryukyu would come to help him sometimes like a tutor.

Each class seemed to remind the other students that they weren't exempt from learning regular subjects just because they wanted to be heroes.

After classes, lunch had gone by fast and soon they were all in another class called 'Hero Basic Training'. Everyone was truly excited for this class since this is where they were going to get their main training to become a hero.

"I AM HERE! COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!" All Might shouted as he entered the classroom with both hands gripped on either side of the doorframe while leaning forward with a smile. All of the students gasped in awe as they see All Might coming in with his hero costume.

"I can't believe it's really All Might!"

"So, he is a teacher!"

"This year is gonna be totally awesome!"

"Hey, look. Is he wearing his Silver Age costume?"

"I'm getting goose‐bumps. It's so retro!"

"Welcome to the most important class at UA High. Think of it as "Hero‐ing 101." All Might stated with his signature smile.

"Here, you will learn the basics of being a pro, and what it means to fight in the name of good! Let's get into it. Today's lesson will pull no punches!" All Might shouted as he revealed a card in his hand that had big red letters on it that spelled out 'Battle'.

Most of the class was excited about the training they were about to get, but none of them could compare to Bakugo or Usagiyama who both had manic grins on their faces.

"But one of the keys of being a hero is... looking good! These were designed for you based on your Quirk registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started." All Might said as he pointed at the wall, and at the exact same moment, parts of the wall extruded out to reveal cases that were numbered 1 through 20.

The students cheered as they realized that they were getting to try out their hero costumes.

"Get yourselves suited up, and then meet me at Training Ground Beta!" All Might ordered the students.

"Yes, sir!" class 1-A replied in synchronization.

U.A. - Ground Beta

All Might waited with his hands on his hips in a large fake cityscape that was prepared by U.A.

Footsteps began to echo from a large metal doorway as the students of class 1-A were walking out of the tunnel and into the sunlight.

"They, say the clothes make the pros, young ladies and gentlemen, and behold, you are the proof!" All Might said in a proud tone.

Bakugo was the first one to step out, his costume is composed of a tight, black, sleeveless tank top, with an orange "X" across the middle, forming a V-neck. There are two dots along the left line of his collar. His costume also has a metallic neck brace worn with rectangular ends that have three holes on each side. His sleeves reach from within his large grenade-like gauntlets to his biceps. His belt, which also carries grenades, holds up his baggy pants with knee guards, below which he sports black, knee-high combat boots with orange soles and eyelets. His mask is jagged and black, and as it goes around his eyes, a large, orange-rimmed flare shape protrudes from each side.

And right behind him was Ida, his hero costume consists of a black one-piece suit with a high collar, over which he wears various pieces of armor, all in a pale silver in color, including a chest plate, a metal collar around his neck, and another around his upper arm, and metal vambraces that extend past his elbows pointed at the ends. He wears a helmet covering his entire face, its sharp bevor full of holes to allow him to speak and breathe easily, and its upper piece rounded over his head with two larger holes on either side, two curved horns just behind and a single spike sticking out of the back of his head.

Then Uraraka, her hero costume consists of a skin-tight black full-body suit with a pale pink design down the middle of her torso, two black circles on her chest, and a black rectangle below her waist, running between her legs. There are two more pink patches over her shoulders, both cut off by darker pink armbands that match a thick choker around her neck.

Many of the student's costumes were very different, some were flashier, while others had more simplistic designs.

The last person to step out was Izuku, his hero costume had a tight white sleeveless upper-half with two yellow lines streaking across the sides and purple lining on the arm openings like his mother's but also one around his collar, he had a black gas mask hooked around his neck that also functioned as a rebreather. He was wearing white gloves that went down his forearm that had metal-plated knuckles, he also was wearing black elbow pads that also had a metal filling to protect his elbows or use as a weapon. He had a black belt with a golden round buckle across his waist, on his belt were a couple of small black pouches on either side. His pants were also white with black knee pads that were also plated with metal, then his shoes were also metal in the shape of rabbit feet, much like his mother's. With the suit being tight around his body, it was displaying his muscles through the clothing, and since his gloves only went up to his forearms, his biceps were on display.

"Wow, man! What's do you do for your workout session!?" Kirishima yelled excitedly as he ran towards Izuku.

"I noticed you were totally ripped, and not like Sato or Shoji, but more like a slender build for speed." Kirishima continued as he got closer and came to a stop.

"Well, maybe you could come over sometime and I'll show you what I do." Izuku grinned knowing that someone was passionate about working out like him.

"Hey, Usagi! Nice costume! It seems like yours is tight like mine. I should have been more specific with mine." Uraraka said as she looked down at her costume.

"Now that you're ready, it's time for combat training!" All Might announced.

"Sir, this is the fake city from our entrance exam. Does that mean we'll be conducting urban battles again?" Ida questioned.

"Not quite. I'm going to move you two steps ahead. Most of the villain fights you see on the news take place outside. However, statistically speaking, run‐ins with the dastardliest evildoers take place indoors. Think about it. Backroom deals, home invasions, secret underground lairs. Truly intelligent criminals stay hidden in the shadows. For this training exercise, you'll be split into teams of good guys and bad guys and fight two‐on‐two indoor battles." All Might explained.

"Isn't this a little advanced?" the Tsuyu Asui 'AKA the frog girl' asked.

"The best training is what you get on the battlefield! But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time. You're dealing with actual people now." All Might answered.

"Sir, will you be the one deciding who wins?"

"How much can we hurt the other team?"

"Do we need to worry about being expelled like earlier?"

"Will you be splitting us up based on chance or comparative skill?"

"Isn't this cape très chic?"

"I wasn't finished talking!" All Might grumbled in annoyance.

"The situation is this." All Might said as he pulled out a small notebook before continuing.

"The villains have hidden a nuclear missile somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must try to foil their plans. To do that, the good guys either have to catch the evildoers or recover the weapon. Likewise, the bad guys succeed if they protect their payload or capture the heroes." All Might said as he read the script.

"We will choose teams by drawing lots!"

"Isn't there a better way?" Ida interjected.

"Maybe because we'll have to team up with random heroes when going pro." Uraraka said while putting her finger below her chin in thought.

'Tch, why'd it have to be a team exercise?' Izuku scoffed in his mind. He was irritated that he had to work on a team despite wanting to be a solo hero like his mother.

"Oh, I see. Life is a random series of events. Excuse my rudeness." Ida apologized to All Might.

"No sweat. Let's draw!"

Team A Izuku Usagiyama and Ochako Uraraka

Team B Mezo Shoji and Shoto Todoroki

Team C Minoru Mineta and Momo Yaoyorozu

Team D Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Ida

Team E Mina Ashido and Yuga Aoyama

Team F Koji Koda and Rikido Sado

Team G Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jiro

Team H Fumikage Tokoyami and Tsuyu Asui

Team I Mashirao Ojiro and Toru Hagakure

Team J Hanta Sero and Eijiro Kirishima

"I declare that the first teams to fight will be... these guys!" All Might said as he reached into the villain and hero box and brought out Team D from the villain box and Team A from the hero box.

Both Bakugo and Izuku shot looks at each other the moment their teams were called. Bakugo shot a piercing glare, while Izuku shot a shit-eating grin back at him. Bakugo scoffed at Izuku before turning and walking off.

"Everyone else can go to the monitor room and watch." All Might told the other students.

"Yes, sir!" they all responded.

"Bad guys, you can go on in and get set up. In five minutes, the good guys will be let loose and the battle will start!" All Might told the two teams.

"Yes, sir!" Uraraka and Ida responded while Bakugo scoffed and Izuku stared at Bakugo.

"Young Ida. Young Bakugo. The key to being successful in this challenge is to embody villainy. Think from the perspective of an evildoer." All Might told both Ida and Bakugo.

"Got it!" Ida responded.

Bakugo had already tuned out All Might and was glaring at Izuku. 'Dammit! I'll crush him, and prove that all my hard work wasn't for nothing, here and now! Because if I can't beat him, then how can I even think about becoming the number one hero?!' he told himself as he clenched his fists before walking into the building to prepare.

"Even though this is training, it pains me to be aligned with criminal behavior." Ida said as he walked over to the bomb.

"So, this is the weapon we must protect." Ida said as he knocked on the bomb which made a hollow sound.

"Fake of course..."

"Hey!" Bakugo shouted to get Ida's attention.

"Hm?" Ida said as he turned to look at Bakugo.

"Do you think we can beat him?" Bakugo asked while looking at Ida with a face that had a serious look without an ounce of the normal anger the explosive blonde usual had.

Ida was taken back by this, sure he hasn't known the boy for long, or even know him well, but he found it to be strange to see him without his usual expression and the question felt even stranger.

"I'm sorry... I don't know what you mean..."

"I mean Usagi, dammit! I wanna know if you think we can beat him! I hate that I have to rely on others to take him down, but if I can get even one small victory over him then it would be my first step to being number one!" Bakugo shouted at Ida. He knew Usagi probably wouldn't likely team up due to him wanting to be a solo hero and even if he won this battle, he wouldn't consider it a complete victory, because he needed to beat Usagi in a fair one on one match to do that.

"You two seem to know each other pretty well, may I ask why you are so determined to beat Usagi? Isn't he's your friend?" Ida asked as he pondered for a moment.

"Tch! None of your dam business! Now listen up! I gotta plan, and you better stick to it, or I'll blow you up glasses!" Bakugo shouted.

"There's no need for yelling! And my name is Tenya Ida!" Ida reprimanded as he chopped his arm up and down.

"DON'T CARE!" Bakugo growled.

"What is with you and Usagi and not addressing people by their actual names!?"

"SHUT UP! Here's the plan!" Bakugo said as he began to explain his ideas to Ida.
