Hey guys, sorry in advance that this is a short chapter, but it's all I've had the time to write and I wanted to get something out. My course has been good, but tiring, so I've been coming home after my eight hours and not wanting to do much of anything. Still, I wanted to get this out so you guys had something to read. So, as always, I hope that you guys enjoy it and that you'll review if you feel like it. Hopefully it won't be as long till the next chapter.

Nourseholly: It'd be fun to write, but I do not intend to have Kate having twins. That's a spoiler, but Kate is only pregnant with one child. I've had a plan for ages and I'm sticking to it, though thanks for reviewing and I'm glad you like the story.

Christine's Pov

As I pulled on my cleats, I was beginning to hate the fact that these uniforms did nothing to warm you up, which is why I was eager to get out onto the field and play our match. It was barely the start of December a.k.a winter, so of course it was cold, but when I was on the field I'd warm up because of all that running around. I wouldn't be perfectly warm, but I'd be a lot better than I was now.

"Okay girls, gather round." Coach Haven said and I got up off the bench, going over to the coach with the rest of the girls. I was so glad we were still in the locker room right now. "Alright, now I want you girls to be careful out there. There's a few girls on this team that do not play fair, but I don't want to see any foul play from you guys. Go out there and beat them fair and square, and show them what a real team looks like."

"Yes ma'am." We all shouted in unison, which made her smile.

"Alright, lets get out there and win this." She said and she led the way out of the locker room, all us girls following behind her.

"We're so close to the champion ship game. Do you think we can win today?" I heard someone say behind me and I smiled. She wasn't talking to me, but I was the captain after all.

I stopped and looked at all the girls who were following us. "Of course, we can win, but don't make it all about winning. Remember to have fun out there and enjoy playing, because playing sport is about more than winning, though of course we want to win. Let's make this the year that the girls soccer team actually wins a trophy for this school."

All the girls smiled and nodded, and a bunch of talking erupted. We walked outside and it was freezing, but we still headed over to the field. I looked at the stands and saw Kate and Michael sitting there. Kate was wrapped up warmly and so was Michael, which made me jealous. I was really cold, so I really wanted to start playing.

X

Okay, I was beginning to get really annoyed. Some of the girls on the other team really didn't play fair and they did it so the ref didn't see what they were doing. This wasn't a non-contact sport, but there were rules about using excessive or unneeded force. I'm sure a lot of us had a lot of hidden bruises on our sides, I know that I did. Still, despite their cheating, we were one point ahead, but we wouldn't stay that way if they got this goal. It had been a high paced game that had kept us on our toes, and there had been trip ups and falls, but we were not losing now.

I watched as they kicked for the goal, but Felicia caught the ball in her hands before it could go in, causing a not so happy cheating player, and threw it straight to me – Felicia had been catching a lot of balls today, which she seemed really happy about. I turned and started running towards the goal, dodging one girl as I went. I saw an opening to Danika and kicked it over to her, as there was no way I was going to get this in on my own. I kept running, closing in on the goal as I heard cheering from our stand, and Danika kicked the ball back across to me as I got an opening to take the shot. I kicked the ball hard and it headed directly for the goal, but at that second, I was shoved hard from the side as the ball flew right past the goalie's hands and went into the goal as the whistle was blown to signal the end of the game. I fell hard, my left twisting in an uncomfortable way as I went, and my shoulder and ass slammed into the ground hard, which obviously hurt.

"Christine." Danika shouted as she ran over to me, while I pushed myself up. I was now slightly covered in mud, though it wasn't bad, and ankle hurt, and I watched as the girl who shoved me walked over to her glaring coach. The moment she got to her, she started to get yelled at. "Are you alright?"

"I think I might have sprained my ankle." I said, wincing as I tried to move it. Yep, definitely sprained it.

"Then your boyfriend should take you to the hospital. We have to get it checked out by a doctor to see how bad it is, so you're free to go." The coach said and I nodded, seeing Michael already coming over to me. "Okay girls, we've won the match, but now I've got to deal with this problem of unnecessarily forceful play. Shake hands with the other players, congratulate them on a good game, then go tend to your bruises."

"Yes ma'am." The other girls said.

Coach Haven looked at Danika then. "Danika, can you please go and grab Christine's bag for her, and an ice pack. She needs to ice her foot." She asked and Danika nodded.

"Of course." She said and she got up, running towards the gym as Michael came to my other side.

"You okay? I heard your coach say something about a hospital." He asked and I nodded.

"If the pains any indication, I've sprained my ankle. I'm going to have to get it checked out." I said and I tried to get up, but the moment I put weight on my left foot it protested and I winced. "Ow!"

Michael sighed and moved so he was in front of me. "Wrap your arms around my neck and I'll carry you." He said, before he smiled. "That, or I could carry you princess style."

"I'll take the piggy back." I said and I wrapped my arms around his neck. He stood up and I wrapped my legs around his waist, which he grabbed. He started walking, only stopping when we reached Kate. "Hey, sorry about this. We were supposed to go out today."

She shook her head. "Don't worry about it, it's not your fault that that girls a big bully who doesn't like losing or playing by the rules." She said, loud enough for the girl who shoved me to hear. "Good thing is that she's not getting away with that, since it was obvious she ran into you on purpose and that she meant to hurt you. I know it's counted as a contact sport, but there's still rules."

"Yeah, a lot of us girls are going to have bruised sides." I said, since mine were aching a little.

"It's a good thing you don't play basketball, 'cause it's a lot easier to play dirty in that sport, I've seen it in both real life and anime." Michael said and I had to agree with him, which is why I hoped he never played against a dirty team. I did know what anime he was referring to – it was an old anime called Kuroko no Basket (A/N I just watched this anime and I loved it, so I'd thought I'd mention it since Michael's a bit of an anime nerd. Also, it would be an old anime for them, which was weird writing.)

"You're such an anime nerd Michael." Kate said and he shrugged, which must have been hard with me on his back.

"Yep, and proud of it." He said. Calling someone a nerd wasn't really an insult, as everyone was a nerd when it came to something. Kate could be called a fashion nerd.

"Here you go." Danika said, arriving with my gym bag (my school bag wasn't with me) and an ice pack. I had a lot of fun, not, moving around so I didn't fall off Michael's back as I took the bag from her.

"Thanks, I'll get her to the hospital now." Michael said, taking the ice-pack from Danika, who smiled before running over to the coach.

I looked back at Kate. "Why don't we have all our friends meet up at my house tomorrow? We can hang out and try to mend this distance between us." I offered and she nodded, smiling.

"I'd like that a lot. I know that they don't know what to say to me now that Darius is gone, but I don't want things to change. I know they have to in a way, because Darius is no longer here, but I know he wouldn't want us to change how we were around each other before he died. He always said our group of friends was good the way it was, and I don't want that to change." Kate said and I smiled down at her, since I was higher than her on Michael's back.

"Then I'll call everyone and set it up, because I miss it too." I said and I saw that she was happy about that plan. "But right now, I should find out just how damaged my foot it, and pray it's just a simple sprain. Also, I'm sure Michael doesn't want to continue standing here with me on his back."

"You're not wrong. It's easier to carry someone when you're walking." Michael said.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow." Kate said and Michael nodded, before walking off with me on his back. He seemed worried about me, and I could tell that he wanted to get me checked out.

"Sorry about this." I said and he shook his head.

He chuckled. "Don't worry about it, just pray that your ankle isn't too bad. Last thing we want is for you to be in a brace for weeks." He said and I had to agree with him. I really hoped it wasn't bad.

So, after getting to the hospital, having iced my foot in Michael's truck on the way to the truck, I'd waited for quite a while in the emergency room. I was through now though and getting an X-ray done of my ankle, before I went to go and get an MRI. They wanted to check my bones and my tendons, as I had swelling around my ankle already, so they wanted to cover all bases. I wasn't having the most fun, as my ankle was killing me and if it was damaged beyond a simple strain then my chances of playing soccer in the final game was nil. It wasn't for quite a while, and we had still a lot of games until then, but if I was hurt I couldn't play in those games. Not to mention the fact that my side was also hurting me because of the bruising, so I was not comfortable.

Michael's Pov

I sat outside of the X-ray room, patiently waiting for Christine to get out. I wasn't liking how this was going, because her ankle had been starting to swell when we'd gotten here. Now, it could just be a really bad sprain, but it could also be a break or torn ligament. Seriously, with how hard that girl had hit her and shoved her down, and the way she'd gone down, anything could have happened.

Just then, my phone started ringing and I quickly answered it. "Hello?"

"Michael, where are you? It's close to dinner." Mom asked and I sighed. Crap, I knew I'd forgotten to do something.

"Sorry Mom, I completely forgot to call you. I'm at the hospital with Christine. Her ankle got hurt in soccer today and they're doing an X-ray and MRI because of how swollen it is. We'll probably be here for a while." I explained, before realizing Christine's parents didn't know where she was either, and all our parents had made the rule that if you weren't going to be home, you called and said where you were.

"Well, hopefully she'll be alright, but do you need me to call Booth and Brennan?" She asked.

"That'd be a lot of help." I said and that's when I saw Christine come out of the X-ray room in a wheelchair. "Christine's just come out. I better go Mom."

"Alright, just call me when you know anything. I'll let Booth and Brennan know where she is." Mom said and then hung up the phone, while I got up and went over to Christine.

"Hey, how'd it go?" I asked and she smiled up at me.

"Well, I have no broken or fractured bones, so that's a plus. I still have to go and get the MRI though and get it checked out by a doctor, so…" She said and I shrugged.

"We're taking her to have her MRI done now." The nurse said and I nodded, following her as she started to pushed Christine. This was going to be a long night, but I guess we could just get take-away on the way home, so that was a plus.

Christine's Pov

I watched as the doctor attached the brace to my foot, which hurt a little because of the pain and swelling, but it's be good for me. Despite the look of my ankle, it wasn't actually that bad.

"I have to admit, this is the worst simple sprain I've seen, so it might take a little longer to heal, but once it does you'll be back on your feet again." The female doctor attaching the brace to my foot said. Yep, my ankle looked like a stage two sprain, but there were no torn ligaments or even partially torn ones. I just had a lot of swelling and pain. "So, just keep in elevated, keep off it and use your crutches when walking. If you need painkillers, normal is fine, but I do suggest taking some anti-inflammatories when you get home."

"I can do that." I said and she nodded, getting up and going back over to her seat, which she sat down in.

"Well, you're all good to go. Just keep the brace on, unless you're showering." She said and I nodded, which is when Michael came back into the room. He'd called his Mom to let her know we'd be leaving soon and that I was alright. We were gonna' go get something to eat and then he was going to stay over the night. Apparently, Angela asked my parents if that was okay, since it was already kinda late and it made things easier for us. He'd be sleeping in the spare room, and this did make tomorrow easier. Apparently, he'd contacted all our friends while I'd been getting a MRI and waiting for the doctor to tell me what was going on. They were all up for it.

"Everything good?" He asked and I got up slowly, using the crutches. My arms were going to be so sore.

"Yep, we're good to go." I said as I walked over to him.

"Remember, rest." The doctor said and I nodded.

"I will." I said and together we left the room.

I was really hungry right now and what I really wanted was food. I wanted something really bad for you, though I had no idea what I wanted. Actually, thinking about it, I did know. I wanted fried chicken and chips, that's what I wanted.

Michael and I finally got back to my house, my bag on my back and Michael carrying our food (Fried chicken!), and went inside to find my parents sitting on the couches, drinking as Dad watched the T.V and Mom read a book. They both looked up though when I walked in.

"Christine, you're finally home." Mom said and I nodded, carefully dumping my bag on the floor as I used my crutches to get over to the free coach, collapsing back. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, it's just a really bad sprain that hurts a lot, but nothing's damaged. I just have to rest it and take painkillers if the pain gets too bad." I said and Dad looked relieved to hear that.

"I'm glad to hear you're okay, but how did it happen? Did you slip while playing?" Dad asked and I shook my head.

"It's more like I was tackled from behind by a player on the other team. There were a few girls who played dirty all day, but this one took it a step further." I said leaning back comfortably.

"Coach Haven was ripping through that girl when we left, and her coach didn't look happy either." Michael said from his place in the kitchen, where he was grabbing plates and filling up cups with coke. "Is it okay if we eat in the lounge so Christine doesn't have to move?"

"It's fine Michael." Mom said, then she looked at me. "And I'm glad they're doing something about that girl. I was worried when Angela said you'd been injured. I would have liked to see copies of the X-ray's and MRI myself though." She said.

"There's copies in my bag, I asked for them and they gave them to me when I said that you were my mom." I said and she got up, placing down her wine and going over to my bag, while Dad came over to me and leant down, kissing my forehead.

"Well you rest and enjoy dinner. I'm going to go enjoy our bath." Dad said and I smiled.

"Okay Dad." I said, but then I realized something as he started to walk away. "Hey Dad, is it okay if all my friends come around here tomorrow, considering we've kinda already invited them?" I asked.

He chuckled. "Well, no point asking me now since you did, but yes it's fine. I'll go out tomorrow and get some snacks for you guys."

"I can do that Booth." Michael said as he came over to the coach, handing me me delicious plate of fried chicked and chips with mash and gravy.

"Don't worry about it, I need to get shopping anyway. You guys just focus on catching up with your friends." Dad said. "Now I'm off."

"Christine's scan's show no sign of damage, so I'll join you." Mom said, before coming over and kissing my head. "Goodnight Christine."

"Night Mom." I said and I watched as those two-headed upstairs.

"So, what do you want to watch?" Michael asked and I looked at him, smiling.

"Your choice." I said and he smirked as he got up, going over to the DVD rack, and I couldn't help but think how lucky I was to have him. I'd tell him that too, but after food. I wanted to eat my food first, cause it smelt so good.
