"The president is continuing to make inquiries into Roswell and the other crash sites, gentlemen. And, as you know, we cannot allow him to get his nose into our business."
"Closet. In a study?" Ris mouthed, not needed to worry about behind heard. The closet wasn't exactly huge and the clothes and shoes really took up most of the space. Leaving her and Five mushed together, peering through the blinds like a couple of idiots.
"I've confirmed the motorcade will indeed be turning left on Elm Street. We'll have our people in place."
"Gentlemen, this plan of yours seems ill-timed." said the all too familiar, hard voice of Reginald Hargreeves.
"It's going to be a turkey shoot."
"I told you!" Ris mouthed furiously. Five shushing back, leaning closer incidentally knocking something. "Dad." Five breathed out, watching as he slowly edged towards them, fire poker in hand.
"Shh."
Five stared back at him, suddenly lunging back, grabbing Ris as he spatial jumped them away. As the fire poker made contact.
"Mothe- You could have just told me the plan." Ris grumbled, lightly holding his shoulder. Five already holding onto her tightly from behind. "Did really have the time." Five replied, slowly releasing her. "You alrigh-"
"Oh hell." Ris said, staring behind him. "Wh-Shit." Five said, as one of the Swedes, grabbed him throwing him into a wall. Five spatial jumped away. Ris launching herself at the Swede kicking him in the chest.
Sending him stumbling back. Five reappeared, kicking him in the leg from behind, wrapping his arms around the Swedes neck. Ris pulling the thin felt belt from her dress, spatial jumping away.
The Swede threw Five onto the floor from behind. Ris reappearing wrapping the belt around his neck, twisting it cutting off airflow.
Just as she was about to snap his neck, the Swede elbowed her in the stomach. Grunting in pain, Ris stumbled back, hitting the floor.
Five appeared next to her, the Swede standing up. Five raised his fists, they glowed but didn't do anything.
"Really a time for performance issues Five?" Ris hissed, getting up standing next to him. "I don't exactly plan this." Five hissed back. The Swede dramatically tossing his hair.
"Okay, we just need to coordinate." Ris said, raising her hand, curling them into fists. Five nodded. "Shouldn't be too hard."
"Nope."
"Agh!" Ris groaned, smashing into the wall again. Watching was the Swede continued to beat the living out of Five.
Grabbing the vase of the table, she spatial jumping onto the Swede smashing it over his head. Kneeing him in the crotch, attempting to give Five some breathing space.
Least her powers were still in tack, otherwise it would have been a real shit-show.
Delivering another kick, the Swede slammed into the wall. Ris swung at him, the Swede catching her fist.
"Shit." Ris breathed out, as he picked her up like she was a feather and threw her out of the window.
"Ris!"
Spatial jumping before she hit the ground, Ris crashing onto the piano in the room below them.
"Ow." she moaned, slowly getting up. Meeting the eyes of Reginald Hargreeves, at first the two stared at each other. Before Hargreeves turned around, briskly walking out the door.
Jumping off the piano, Ris walked to the food table, grabbing a knife. Popping a chocolate into her mouth. "Really hope this works."
Running upstairs, seeing Lila strangling the Swede she and Five her fighting with her legs. Ris turned to Diego, throwing the first knife embedding it into the one with the Brass Knuckles, he slammed into the wall, hissing in pain.
Lunging at her, ducking his swing. Praying this would work. Ris raised her hand, using her telekinesis, throwing him through the wall into the other room.
The other Swede released Diego, edging towards her. Her head was swimming, she was ready to puke. "I hear a rumour you went to sleep." Ris whispered, the Swede's eyes rolled back as he slammed into the floor, snoring.
"Hey, Diego." Ris slurred, swaying on her feet, suddenly looking quite sick. "Sorry, I locked you in a mental hospital."
"It's okay." Diego coughed out. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just gonna…I'm just gonnaa…" Ris said, passing out onto the floor. Just as the other Swede clambered out from the other room.
Diego rolled up his sleeves, lightly setting Ris to the side.
"Oh, yeah, mofo. It's just you and me. Show me what you got."
"Ris? Hey? Wake up!" Diego whispered, gently patting her face.
"Hmm?" Ris said groggily opening her eyes. She still looked incredibly dazed. "Iego." she greeted.
"What's happening? What's wrong?" Diego asked, picking her up, cradling her head in his shoulder carefully. "Pfff…iego…." Ris slurred, her eyes rolling, her head seeming to follow it. "I take veddy bad care of meself." she said, leaning into his warmth.
"Okay, let's go." Diego said glancing around the room, before walking out with a half unconscious Ris.
"Was that him?" Diego called out, approaching Five and Lila outside.
"Yeah."
"You know, I'm starting to get the feeling Dad's avoiding us." Five spat venomously, glancing at Diego, doubling back, when he noticed Ris in his arms.
"Hate to be the boring one, guys, but, uh, it's time we get the hell out of here." Lila said, glancing around the scene.
Five scoffed. "When you say 'we,' who exactly are you referring to?"
"Not a lot of ambiguity in that sentence." Lila said lightly.
"Listen, I don't know who you are or where you came from, but whatever it is, I'd advise you return posthaste." Five snapped, his eyes lighting with an insane gleam.
"She's right, Five. We gotta get outta here." Diego said from behind him. "Mmmhmm." Ris hummed.
"I just saved your life, you kinder-shit." Lila cried. "If I hadn't stepped in, all that would be left of you is a blazer and some bloody socks."
"And that's the problem. You're too good. You ask too many questions. You know too much. And you fight like you know what you're doing." Five replied curtly.
"He's got a point."
"So I know how to handle myself, and that makes me the bad guy?"
"Whoever you are, you're in my way. If I see you again, I will kill you." Five threatened, glancing back at Ris, letting out another hiss before stalking down the street.
"Diego, we need to go." Lila said, breaking him out of his thoughts. Diego licked his lips, edging closer to Lila. "I was getting my ass handed to me back there. You helped Five, not me. Why?"
"Because he's a kid and you're a man. Bloody act like one." Lila said.
Diego paused, adjusting Ris in his arms, before following Five.
"Diego, I... I...We shouldn't..."
"You know what?" Diego said, turning around facing Lila. "I'm used to dealing with liars, Lila, but I like it better when I know what they're lying about." he said, turning around walking to Five, who was sulking sulkily in the trees.
"Oh, come on, Diego. Really?" Lila said, her voice drifting into the distance. "You're just gonna walk away? Diego."
"Im sorry." Ris mumbled into Diego's jacket. She looked quite sweet when she was sleepy, like a small puppy who didn't like light.
"Thanks Ris."
"Anytime, Bonderas."
Ris had a complicated relationship with sleeping. She loved it when she could sleep with someone, not in the sense of them sleeping next to her or even cuddling, just being the room with her.
She hated sleeping alone. It was far too unnatural for her, given she had slept in a room with many girls and boys previously and then staying with Five for as long as she had, made sleeping alone a terrifying thing.
So, when she slammed into the 1960's, alone and powerless to say that fear escalated would be an understatement.
This resulted in many sleepless nights, which after a while starting to affect her eating habits, which in turn began to affect her, even worst once she regained her powers.
While she had tried (she really did) to try and take better care of herself, there were just so many things she had to do.
Ris just didn't have time to take care of herself, when she was taking care of everyone else.
"Hey, Rissa." Five said softly, when she woke up. "Had a good sleep?"
He was sitting right next to her, legs crossed coffee cup in hand. He looked a lot calmer than before, also a little sorer.
"Yeah," she mumbled, sitting up Five handing her the cup in his hand. "Thanks." Ris said, squeezing it in her hands. "What happened?"
"Oh the usual, our Dad part of a cult, Diego got his ass handed to him, Lila's been playing us, Luther and Elliott got high and you were right."
Ris nodding, taking his all in. "Yeah that sounds right."
"Warf." came another voice, as Quinque jumped onto Ris's lap. "Hey, cutie." Ris said, scratching behind his ear. "I finally got the name." Five said, reaching over patting the dog on the head.
Quinque shook his head, seeming quite content with him, than before.
"I'm sorry." Five said quietly. Ris shook her head. "It's okay."
"I'm gonna miss him." Ris said giving Quinque a hug, the puppy curling into her.
"I know." Five said, looking down at the puppy. "Want me to come too?" Ris shrugged, not wanting to be needy. "If you want, I doubt it would be very exciting."
"He'll have a good home."
"I know."
"No, no, no, I don't understand. They keep following me." Diego said, pacing up and down the kitchen floor. Luther was making a pile of scrambled eggs fit to feed a small army.
Five was leaning against the doorframe, third cup of coffee in hand. While Ris was sipping tea by the table.
"Wait, who?"
"Those Dutch sociopaths."
"They're Swedish, you idiot." Five said. "Hired guns paid to eradicate us before we do any more damage to this timeline."
"Yeah, but why now? I mean, I'm..." Diego said snapping his fingers angrily. "Fine for three months until you showed up."
"Yeah, I was here for a year and no one messed with me." Luther added from the stove.
"That's because I was killing all the assassin they sent." Ris said taking another sip of tea. "But the Swedes…they're some of the best the Commission has, there probably still be looking for us."
"See it wasn't my fault," Five said, Ris playfully rolling her eyes at the childish response. "But that doesn't matter," he added quickly, straightening up, adjusting his blazer. "We only have six days before the end of the world, and the closest anyone's gotten to Dad was that driveway at the consulate."
"Well..." Luther sighed, stopping his egg stirring. "That's not exactly true."
"What do you mean?" Five asked, edging forward to him.
"I saw him."
Turns out, the reason she didn't find Luther in the first few weeks were because he went to find his father who was partying with the Majestic Twelve and was painful rejected by his father.
"That's pathetic." Diego said, from across Ris. Ris giving him a 'shut up' look. "Yeah, well, at least he didn't shank my ass." Luther replied shovelling more eggs into his mouth.
Ris snorted.
"No, bro, he shanked your heart." Diego said deeply. "Now that's pathetic." Ris added lightly.
"Mm."
"Is that my bathrobe?" Elliott asked, looking over at Luther. Luther glanced down at his robe. "No." he lied.
Five sighed. "Look, who cares what he shanked? He knows something about time travel."
"Um..." Elliott asked, making the four look at him again. "Wait, why don't you just do your thing and, uh, time travel us out?"
"Anyone care to explain?" Five said tiredly. "First time he tried, he got lost in the apocalypse. And found Ris." Luther added, waving his fork in her direction.
"Hi." Ris said, giving Elliott a big smile and a small wave.
"Second time, he ended up without hair on his balls." Diego said, as Five poured himself another cup of coffee. "I did not hear to that." Ris mumbled into her mug.
"Last time I tried, I scattered my family and Ris across three years in Dallas, Texas, possibly triggering a doomsday." Five finished, inclining his cup towards them. "Any more questions, Elliott?"
"Play nice." Ris said pointedly glancing at Five. Five rolled his eyes, but relaxed his tense stance.
"Uh, no." Elliott mumbled under his breath. "Bu-"
"You're missing the big picture." Diego said, cutting them off. "Dad is the ringleader of a sinister cabal that's planning to kill the president."
"A cabal?" Ris repeated, rising an eyebrow. "Ignore him." Five said instantly. "Look, the way I see it, we only have one option."
"Oh, yeah? And what's that?" Luther said irritably.
"It's time to get the Umbrella Academy back together." Five said, taking a sip of coffee.
"Hell, yeah. Family meeting." Diego said a little more sinisterly than needed. "Okay, you need to stay here after than comment." Ris said, getting up setting the cup in the sink, leaning against it.
"Agreed." Five said, turning back to the others. "Can one of you get Allison, please?" Luther asked glumly. "You two still a thing?" Diego asked, glancing at Luther. "Do we need to talk?" he muttered.
"No, she's married."
"Whoa. Dude, that's rough."
"I can handle it."
"I'll get her. It's been a while since I visiting my girl." Ris said running her fingers though her short hair. "Your girl?" Diego said, grinning.
"Yes, believe it nor not I had a life before I shipped you to a mental hospital." Ris said smartly.
"Can you get Vanya without, uh, squeezing her to death?" Five sassed. "I'll try." Luther said darkly.
"Good, we don't need an early apocalypse." Ris added smirking, Five letting out a light chuckle. Ris and Five walking into the living room, spatial jumping out of site.
"Wait! R...Uh...What should I do?" Elliott mumbled, glancing at Diego and Luther.
"Prepare for company."
