"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Harry woke with a start, his scar bleeding worse then ever.
Alas, Harry was getting used to his frequent nightly "visitor". Namely Voldemort. What with Harry getting his nightly "visitor" and the guilt he feels about Sirius's death, it's a wonder he hasn't cracked already. The Daily Prophet was making up stories about him everyday. Some true and others false. He never paid attention. To tell the truth, the only things our hero does are stay in is room and mope, eat (the Dursleys were going easier on him since Moody's warning), sleep (when he can), and shower (must not be much because his room was starting to stink with B.O.).
So this brings us to Harry's current predicament:
"BOY!" Vernon Dursley's husky voice yelled through the door." I will not have your yelling waking up the house when we honest and working people have to get up at the crack of dawn! Not to mention the fact that I have to feed your sorry hide. You're costing me a fortune, practically."
Harry just rolled his eyes and muttered an "I'm sorry Uncle Vernon."
Vernon walked away muttering something like " You better damn well be, you ungrateful ingrate."
Harry just lay down and went back to a fitful nights rest.
Harry woke up to find a faint tapping at the window. He looked at his watch and it read 6:30. Well at least I got a bit of sleep last night, thought Harry while opening the window for Hedwig who, with a field mouse in her beak, flew to her perch and started eating.
Harry got up to do his daily chores when he noticed that Hedwig brought him something from a stranger. It was a note,
Harry,
You will wander the path of unknowing, but will find comfort in the Wisdom Keeper. That's all I have to tell you today, but remember this; I can control more power than you can possibly know.
M. E. L.
With the note was a book entitled: 1001 Deadly Curses and Their Uses.
Inside the book was another note saying, Happy Birthday Harry
Harry read the book for about ten minutes when he heard some noise downstairs. Harry, of course being how he usually is, crept downstairs to eavesdrop.
"Well, when are you freaks going to come get him?" Vernon could be heard grumbling.
"Mr. Dursley," came a tired, but familiar voice, "We've been through this already, we don't think it's in Harry's best interest to come with us until September 1st. He will be safe here and unless you want to fell my wrath you will shut the bloody hell up!"
Vernon just nodded dumbly and left it at that. Harry was amazed at the tone the professor just took with his uncle. He had never heard anything like it.
"Now if you will excuse me I will have to be going. I have pressing matters to attend to at the Ministry. Good day."
Harry was pissed that Dumbledore would leave him alone like this, especially when Sirius just died. I have to do something about this, thought Harry. An epiphany came to Harry just now. He decided to run away and then find somewhere to live. After all, he did have a lot of money. He wouldn't be able to leave until his birthday, but atleast he could leave.
And with that Harry started planning.
