Thor watched the tape several times before he finally looked up from it.

"From what you tell me about the reaction of Teal'c's dog, what the other man in the infirmary said and the evidence on this screen, I must admit that you have every reason to believe it was an Asgard responsible for the disappearance of Ian Brooks."

Before Jack or any of the others could say they wanted Ian back again – or anything else for that matter – Thor continued.

"However, it would be prudent to check the area for him before you start looking further-"

"We checked the entire base, Thor," Jack snapped. "He's not here."

"And the guards at the gate didn't let him out," Janet added.

"Then I will return to my ship and do a full scan of the area," Thor told them.

"You really didn't take him?" Sam asked.

"I did not."

"Do you think some other Asgard might have?"

He blinked.

"I cannot see any reason they would. None of the others have met him – nor would they have any reason to single him out from the rest of your people…"

Jack scowled.

"I'm going to your ship with you."

"As am I," Teal'c said.

"Me, too," Janet added. When the others looked at her, she frowned. "He's my patient. If he's been taken somewhere he could be injured. Not to mention what would happen if someone tried to use a synthetic steroid of some sort to try and wake him up…"

"By all means, Doctor," Hammond said, nodding. He wasn't going to argue with her when she was in such a foul mood at any rate. He looked over at Sam. "Major?"

"Shawn? Will you watch Jake?"

It was obvious that Shawn wanted to go as well, but since there really wasn't any reason for him to press that issue, he nodded. Sam and Jack needed to go. He didn't.

"Sure."

"I'll watch him," Hammond said, recognizing that Shawn wanted to go – and deciding that since Shawn knew Thor best, he might actually be more help than Jack – besides, he could always help Sam keep Jack from blowing up at the Asgard.

Thor didn't argue with the additional company. Instead, he simply nodded once – or maybe looked down at the floor – and an instant later there was a bright flash, a couple of low growls, and the room was suddenly empty of everyone but Hammond and the sleeping baby.

"It's amazing the things you can get used to," the general said, peeking under the blanket to make sure the flashing light hadn't woken Jake.

OOOOOOOOOOO

Alarms blared once more throughout the little Asgard ship, and once more Loki's eyes widened with alarm.

"What have you done?"

Ian looked over his shoulder.

"Beats me. I pressed the button on the far left – the green one on the top."

"Press it again."

"What is it?"

Loki hesitated, and then answered.

"A navigational tool. You just put us into a collision course with some celestial body – or we would be if we were to drop out of hyperspace at this moment."

"So I shouldn't turn off the hyperdrive engines right now?"

"No," the little alien snapped. "Press the green button again and it will put us back on course."

"I don't want to be back on course," Ian said. "I want to turn us around. Which button does that?"

"I am not telling you that. I need your help."

Ian shrugged.

"Fine. I'll figure it out."

He pressed the green button to the right of the green one he'd already pushed, figuring that maybe the navigational ones were all color-coded and he'd be on the right track. The little ship shuddered mightily, and bucked, throwing Ian backwards against the chair and sending a helplessly tied up Loki rolling along the wall until he crashed into the back bulkhead.

Ian rubbed the back of his head and staggered to his feet.

"What the hell was that?"

"You increased our speed without adjusting the inertial dampeners," Loki said, sullenly, obviously just as battered as Ian. "We are heading away from your planet even faster, now."

"Then I'd better figure out how to turn around, huh?" Ian told him, heading back for the main console.

OOOOOOOOOOO

"Well?"

"Give me a moment…" Thor said, studying the headsup display in front of them as his scanners searched not only the general area around the base, but the entire state – and beyond – for Ian Brooks' life signs.

"He's checking the whole continent," Shawn said, softly, watching.

Shawn understood what was going on better than anyone – including Sam, even – because he was the most familiar with the Asgard technology.

"What's he finding?" Jack asked.

"Nothing."

"Which means Ian is not present," Teal'c said.

"Or he's dead," Thor said, looking over at the others.

Jack scowled.

"Or he was snatched by some other Asgard."

"I do not believe that any of my-"

"Why don't you call them and find out?" Jack asked. "Just to make sure…"

It wasn't a request, though, no matter how it sounded, and Thor knew it. He also knew that the evidence pointed to one of his own – no matter how little he could believe that had happened. So he simply nodded, and looked down at his chair console.

"I will ask…"
