Headcanon of the Chapter: Danielle would definitely be addicted to Animal Crossing, and although she claims she loves all her villagers, if she ever got Goose as a villager, it would be ON SIGHT. She also gets Vision addicted as well and they end up visiting one another because Vision has good turnip prices and Danielle has a tarantula island.

Danielle never really got to experience much of the regular high school experience last year due to her time being cut in half between being a student at Midtown and an Avenger. But now that her full attention was back on school, she got to really live it out as it was. And it was around the time that she walked across the football field toward the school entrance that the excitement for Homecoming really hit her full on.

All across the parking lot were student cars decorated with flags, banners, and streamers while the kids sat in the seats shouting out the windows about the football game that was being held that afternoon just before the dance. Danielle smiled at the spirited girls she recognized in a few of the cars as her old soccer teammates and waved as she passed to get to entrance. She had to duck a few times to avoid getting hit in the head with a football that was being tossed between kids. When one nearly grazed her face she had to mentally remind herself that this was the reason why she had yet to actually go to one of Midtown's football games; the team didn't know how to throw.

Upon finally entering the school, she was immediately joined by another familiar brunette who was sporting her usual book in hand and satchel backpack thrown over her shoulder as she silently fell into step with her. She was so smooth and quiet with her steps, Danielle jumped out of her skin when she said, "Hey."

"Shit!" Danielle clutched her chest and took a deep breath after all the air in her lungs had been taken from the scare her friend had given her. "You enjoy scaring me, don't you?" She muttered bitterly, catching Michelle's smile she was tring to smother.

"Eh, a little bit," she admit. The pair came to an abrupt halt when another excited student lept in front of the girls to dash a few yards ahead where a small crowd seemed to be forming around some sort of decorated stand just beside the large trophy case in the main hallway.

Danielle tried to take a peak through all the students crowding the area, but couldn't get a good look at what it was exactly they were all rushing to get to. Michelle and Danielle shared a brief glance of shared confusion before deciding to take a closer look. Michelle, of course, had to push through a few other kids to get closer until eventually they were able to get a better look from the side.

Standing at the head of the crowd behind the decorated stand were Liz and Betty, smiling and laughing as they handed out what appeared to be cupcakes paired with little buttons with colorful pictures on them. Danielle narrowed her eyes in confusion at what they could possibly be handing gifts out to students for.

Her confusion didn't dissipate until some kid walked by with a cupcake half shoved down his throat, the button plastered on his shirt as he passed by the girls. "'Liz Allen for Homecominf Queen,'" Michelle read aloud as he passed. "Huh. Usually the campaigning doesn't start until Prom."

Danielle wasn't paying much attention to Michelle at that point as she glanced back at Liz and Betty seemingly having the time of their lives just happily handing out cupcakes and buttons to students. She wondered if it would've been that fun for her if she had kept her nomination or if maybe her and Liz would be campaigning together. But really, the thing that was bugging her most was that after all the help Danielle had been putting in with Homecoming the past two weeks since the Ferry Incident, Liz would've talked to her about helping her campaign. So why hadn't she?

"It should've been you up there campaigning, ya know." Michelle's words lulled Danielle away from her troubling thoughts. Why would someone so against school activities and– as Michelle had put it– 'just another excuse to vote on popularity', think she would make a good Homecoming Queen.

Danielle shook her head. "No. Liz worked hard for this. And it's her last year. She deserves it more."

Michelle scoffed, much to Danielle's surprise. "Yeah, sure," she muttered with disdain. "Dani, this is Liz's third time winning Homecoming Queen with little to no competition. You getting nominated was the most competition she has had in years," she explained before resigning with a heavy exhale and turning her head back to Liz and Betty. "It just would've been nice to have someone else win for a change."

For a moment, Danielle ran with her words. What if she had ran and won? Homecoming Queen would've been something cool for her to be apart of. It would've been something normal and teenager. It would've been something fun. But, it was too late to complain about something she couldn't change anymore. It would've been useless.

Danielle shook her head, a soft smile playing on her lips as she glanced onwards towards Liz and Betty still shouting about her vote for Homecoming Queen as if they even had to campaign for the votes. "No... I'll let her and Peter have their night," she remarked, turning her back on the crowd of kids and cupcakes and heading towards her class in the opposite direction.

Michelle stood there for a moment, processing her words, but was quick to catch up just as smoothly and quietly as before. "You're too nice for you're own good," she muttered bitterly, still managing to startle Danielle somehow. "Maybe I'd you we're more selfish and mean, you'd be more fun."

The brunette narrowed her eyes at her friend in mock-offense. "I'm fun."

"No, you're exciting," Michelle corrected. Danielle opened her mouth to respond. "And they are definitely not the same thing." Danielle clamped her mouth shut.

As they continued to walk side by side to get to their class, Danielle caught sight of a hideous poster on the wall. It was a red background with a cartoon of the superhero the Flash plastered on it, but with a cut-out of Flash's on it and the words 'Don't Be A Slow-Poke, Vote Flash For Homecoming King.' Danielle scrunched her nose up in disdain, but was suddenly struck with an amazing idea.

She quickened her pace and jogged ahead of Michelle to grab hold of the poster before ripping it off the wall and tearing it to pieces– the face included. She giggled in excitement as she quickly discarded the torn pieces into the nearby trash can, shaking her hands off of any leftover trash with a victorious smile on her face. Michelle, a little taken aback by what her friend had just done, could only stare at her with wide eyes while trying– and failing– not to grin from ear to ear.

"Fun and mean enough for you?" Danielle prompted with chuckle as she jumped back into step with her.

Michelle cracked a laugh this time and nodded reluctantly. "You're something else, West."

Boy, she had no idea.

The school day went by fairly fast and before Danielle knew it, it was lunch.

The halls were still filled with posters and banners with big letters and proclamations of school spirit. Students were dressed in school colors shouting and cheering ever so often about the game that night. Once again, Danielle found herself having to dodge footballs as her and Michelle entered the cafeteria.

Surprisingly, Danielle made it to her, Ned, and Peter's table without being approached by Liz of Betty like she usually would be any other normal day. So, she took advantage and convinced Michelle to sit with them. Ned was already waiting eagerly when they sat down to join him.

"Hey, Danielle," he greeted the brunette before glancing at Michelle uneasily. "Hey... Michelle." Michelle could could see the confusion in his eyes and hear the concern in his words from the moment her and Danielle sat down. "You're sitting... five feet closer than usual," he remarked with a grin.

"It's temporary," she grumbled in response as her and Danielle got comfortable on their side of the lunch table. It was then that Danielle noticed someone missing.

"Hey, where's Peter?" SHe wondered aloud, her eyes traveling across the room to the line to see if maybe he was still grabbing his food, but was concerned when she couldn't spot his familiar head of curly brown hair.

"Dani," the brunette turned back when Michelle called her. Her friend's eyes trailed further behind Danielle as she jerked her head in that direction. "Over there." Danielle followed where Michelle was staring and suddenl understood why niether Peter or Liz had shown their faces yet.

Across the cafeteria, surrounded by all of the Homecoming Committee, the football team, and a few other top-dog seniors, were Liz, Betty, Seymour, and Jason, laughing and talking amongst the groups. Danielle narrowed her eyes and upon closer inspection she could make out the top of Peter's head as he remained hidden beside the group of kids practically hanging off the table tops as they crowded them. He was sitting beside Liz, but he looked out of place somehow. It was so obvious that he was uncomfortable and overwhelmed, but every so often Danielle would catch him staring down at his hand restingon the top of the lunch table... right on top of Liz's.

"Oh," was all Danielle had to say before turning back to Ned and Michelle. She could see Ned's look of disappointment as his gaze fell onto his tray of food in front of him. Michelle only shook her head in disdain. Danielle could only do the same, her eyes following the French fry she had in her hand as she dipped it into her ketchup and took a small bite despite the fact that her appetite was non-existent.

"Hey, guys."

Danielle, Michelle, and Ned all looked up to find the majority of their Decathlon team coming to join them, their trays in hand as they took a seat all around the group. Cindy, Sally, Abe, and Charles.

"Hi..." Michelle mumbled her reply, blunt confusion written clear on her face. Usually Cindy and Sally sat with the semi-popular junior girls near the front of the cafeteria, while Abe and Charles skipped lunch most of the time in favor of going to robotics club instead. It was odd that they were all now choosing today to come join them for lunch.

Danielle was the one to take it upon herself to finally ask the question she knew Michelle and Ned were silently wondering, "What are you guys doing here?"

"We're coming to sit with you guys for lunch," Abe spoke matter-of-factly in his thick accent.

Ned furrowed his eyebrows. "Yeah, but, you guys never come sit with us," he remarked.

"Well," Cindy started off with an uneasy grin. "We have a bit of a proposition-"

"No," Michelle immediately cut in.

Danielle turned to her friend, her eyes wide in shock. "Michelle," she scolded lightly. The dark-skinned girl shrugged, unaffected. Danielle could only shake her head in disbelief before turning back to Cindy. "What proposition?"

Before answering, Cindy, Abe, Sally, and Charles all shared questioning glances with one another before Sally eventually spoke, "Well, we were thinking since none of us have dates for Homecoming..."

"-And we're all great teammates and are there for one another," Charles chimed in.

"-That you'd consider joining our group to go to Homecoming together," Abe finished for them, the rest of the group smiling expectantly at the other three teammates at the table.

Ned's mouth opened, then closed again as he tried to fathom what they were propositioning. Danielle furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as well. Unsure of how Homecoming worked, she had always just assumed it was a BYOD (bring your own date) kind of thing, not a group effort.

Eventually, Michelle spoke up. "You're asking us to Homecoming? ... All of us?" They all nodded enthusiastically.

Danielle shared a look with Ned. He seemed fine with it once he processed their question. Then Danielle turned to Michelle. She had a look in her eye that told Danielle she really didn't want to go n the first place, but was reluctant to go anyway. Danielle raised her eyebrow at her friend just to double check she was seeing right.

Michelle pursed her lips and rolled her eyes before relenting. "Fine."

"Yes!" Charles fist pumped before turning to Abe and giving him a high-five. Cindy and Sally celebrated as well with shared laughs and giggles. Even Michelle cracked a small smile as Danielle nudged her arm in excitement. This was going to be fun. It was Homecoming and she was going with her friends... save for a few.

She couldn't help it when she glanced over her shoulder at Peter and Liz across the cafeteria as the group beside her had already begun discussing travel arrangements to get to the dance and which colors to wear in order to coordinate and not clash too much.

Peter and Liz looked happy. They were laughing and smiling and holding hands. And if they were happy, she should've been happy for her friends. And she was. Definitely...

"Should I wear my party hat?"

"No, Ned."

"Don't be scared... It's just an outfit," Danielle whispered to herself for the third time after slipping on the dress she had picked for herself a few weeks ago. It still clung to her in an easy-flowing and naturally fit way, but it just felt different when paired with the small silver heels she had out on and her hair she had taken hours to straighten out and curl at the end of each individual lock. She even threw on a bit of make-up for the occasion. Granted, she only knew how to put on blush, mascara, and lipgloss, but it seemed to work out fine.

"It's just a dress," she repeated to herself as her legs slowly carried her towards the mirror on her closet door. Her eyes were closed so she couldn't really see at first, but as she slowly opened them to take in her appearance, her anxiety seemed to almost vanish. She looked... good.

She wasn't sure why she had been so scared. She actually looked pretty... well, pretty.

Danielle's fingers slowly came up to latch onto a small curl that rested on her collarbone and pull it down before letting go to watch it bounce. She glanced down at her dress and ran her hands down the skirt, her fingers slowly tracing where the front of the skirt parted and hung like a drape in the back, exposing her legs in the front. Then her eyes landed on her freshly painted pale pink nails she'd done the night before snug inside her silver strapped heels. She clicked the back of them together as if she were Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and bit her lip to keep from outright grinning too much. This was it. This was going to be a night to remember.

It was a little awkward sitting on the subway by herself in a nice dress, heels, a silver clutch purse, but thankfully she wouldn't be alone for long. After a few stops, Michelle, Ned, and Charles got on. Charles was dressed in a pale blue suit with a white stuffy dress shirt beneath paired with a darker blue bow tie. He was even wearing matching pale blue glasses. Ned was wearing something similar: a white suit with a blue dress shirt beneath and a red bow tie... with his party hat on his head. Danielle had to chuckle at that.

Then beside them as they walked onto the train was Michelle. She wore a short dress with yellow intricate flowers that morphed into a white sleeve-less top with matching yellow heels. Her messy bun was less messy tonight and– if she squinted– Danielle could make out a hint of make-up on her face as well. She looked beautiful.

"Hey, Danielle," Charles greeted as she stood up from her seat on the train and greeted her friends with an excited smile. "Woah." Danielle froze at his reaction. Had something spilled on her dress? Was it ripped? Did her shoes not match? What was it?

"You look awesome," he said in an awestruck voice.

Danielle let out a sign of relief before her face burned with embarrassment at the exclamation. "Thanks," she muttered as she brushed a curl behind her ear. "You guys all look amazing, too," she gushed to her friends. "Especially you, Michelle. You look nice."

Danielle watched as Michelle pursed her lips to keep from smiling and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, whatever," she grumbled, but Danielle could tell she appreciated the compliment. "Do you have it?"

Before Danielle could ask what she meant, she glanced down at what Michelle had in her hand and realized what she meant. "Oh. Yeah." Quickly, Danielle opened her clutch purse and pulled out the red rose corsage she had bought from the store a few hours ago from the store across the street from Delmar's. "Here," slowly Danielle pushed it onto Michelle's wrist and admired how nice it looked paired with her yellow dress.

Michelle admired it for a moment as well before quickly getting on with it. "Here's yours," she said shyly as she held out the plastic container with a blue rose corsage inside. Danielle carefully took it out of the packaging and slid it onto her own wrist and admired how well it looked on her arm. "It doesn't really match, but..."

"It's beautiful," Danielle quickly assured her friend. "Thanks, Michelle."

Michelle gave her an appreciative smile. "Thanks for mine," she held up her wrist briefly.

"Damn, I'm so excited for this dance," Charles exclaimed from beside the girls. The train had already jolted to a start while the girls were exchanging corsages, and the boys were already talking about which line dances they were definitely doing and which they were gonna sit out for.

Eventually, the subway stopped and the group for off just outside the school. Danielle's heels made it hard for her to walk across the football field this time around, but she managed just fine until they made it to the front of the school steps and walked right in.

Of course, Danielle had been one of the people that had helped set up the dance, but it still took her breath away walking into the front doors beneath the arch of yellow, white, and blue balloons with green and blue lights reflecting off all the shiny streamers and banners across the dance floor. It was already crowded inside and the dance was in full affect with students all across the room dancing and swaying to the loud music. Danielle felt the bass of the speakers in her chest and couldn't help but bob her head along with the song shed never heard before but was enjoying nonetheless.

"Guys!"

In a small cluster by the few tables at the end of the dance floor was where Cindy, Sally, and Abe were waiting for them. Cindy was waving them down. "Over here!"

The group pushed past a few dancing students until they eventually reached the rest of their pack. They had arrived earlier thanks to Cindy's mom giving the trio a lift.

"You all look amazing," Sally gushed. She wore the longest dress out of the group. It was a silver sparkling gown that went to the floorand looked as though it were glowing under the neon lights all around them.

Abe and Charles fist-bumped and Danielle was quick to recognize the color coding within the boys' group. Abe had decided to where a dark blue suit with pale blue bow tie. She chuckled at the coordination.

"You look great, too. You're glowing, Sally," Danielle laughed as Sally took the opportunity to spin around, her gown hitting the groups' legs as she spun.

"Woah, Danielle," Cindy gushed as she pushed the boys aside to get a better look at her dress. "Talk about standing out. You look awesome."

Danielle blushed from the attention and quickly diverted it. "So do you. I love you color scheme." Cindy wore a gown, similar to Sally's but not as long. It was a dark navy blue with intricate gold patterns all across it.

"Thanks," she exclaimed as she threw her straightened hair over her shoulder dramatically. "It's inspired by Eris. The vigilante. She's my idol!" She exclaimed.

Danielle swallowed hard and gave her an awkward grimace in response. She could practically hear Ned holding back a laugh from behind her, but she couldnt brinf herself ro laugh at the irony.

Suddenly, her panic levels began to rise. The excitement mixed with anxiety for the dance began to set in and her throat began to tighten... "I really need to use the restroom," she abruptly stated. After setting her purse onto a nearby table, she quickly started off towards where the bathrooms were in the corner of the dance floor. She needed some air.

Her heels clicked loudly on the tile floor of the restroom as she walked in, the door shutting behind her blocking out the music and bringing her into a whole new world of blinding white lights above the dozens of mirrors and sinks. She walked over to the mirrors, and set her hands down on either side of a sink. Her breathing was slowly going back to normal and her throat wasn't feeling as tight as her head dangled above the sink as if she were getting ready to barf. Maybe she was...

Danielle took a few more deep breaths before pulling her weight off the sink and switching on the cold water. She cupped her hands beneath it to wet them a bit before wiping off her blush as she attempted to cool herself down. She looked back up at her reflection and saw her light brown eyes staring back at her. Her pale complexion looked even paler in this light and suddenly she wished she had stayed home.

But, why? It was just a reference to Eris. It wasn't like anyone knew. So, why did she have this sinking feeling in her gut all of a sudden that something bad was about to happen?

Ugh... maybe it was a bad idea coming, she thought to herself as she turned off the sink and dried her hands off on her dress skirt.

Just then, one of the doors to the stall opened and Betty stepped out. She looked cute in her short baby blue and white dress, her straight blonde hair finally out from beneath her iconic headband she always wore. She seemed to perk up immediately at the sight of Danielle. "Ellie," she beamed. Danielle fought the urge to groan at her peppiness. "You look cute. Oh, I can't tell you how happy I am that you withdrew your nomination for Homecoming Queen. That was so nice of you to give up the title for Liz's last year," she exclaimed, but Danielle was trying to block her out as she continued to steady her breathing. Betty definitely wasn't helping as she continued to talk.

"You would've won, too. Apparently the girls from the soccer team were planning an entire campaign for you. But... you backed out and they figured they'd just get behind Liz instead," she muttered glumly as she washed her hands a couple sinks down from her. "But, at least you still showed up. Great sportsmanship," she smiled as she dried her hands and started to walk off. And as she passed she added, "See you on the dance floor."

Danielle waited for the sound of the music outside from when Betty and opened the door again to stop before rolling her eyes. What was with that girl? Danielle thought she had already gotten over the fake-friends stage with her during soccer season. Maybe she was just mad because she felt Danielle was closer to Liz than she was. Either way, Danielle was over Betty's behavior AND this dance.

She eventually mustered up the courage to leave the restroom, but stopped as she surveyed her surroundings. God, it was loud... and crowded.

She spotted the punch bowl and decided to pour herself a cup. When she chugged down a few gulps, she was disappointed when she didn't taste any hint of alcohol. She'd hoped for a moment someone might've spike it, but apparently they hadn't. Maybe if they had, it would've taken the edge off of her for a few hours or just enough to enjoy what was supposed to be a fun night that was already regretting coming to.

Finally, Danielle had made her way back to where the group had been standing earlier only to find most of them had gone to go dancing, leaving behind only Ned and Michelle who seemed to be... panicking... or maybe arguing? Michelle looked upset, but Ned looked concerned. "What's going on?" Danielle piped up as she approached.

The pair turned to her with wide eyes, clearly not expecting her to be out of the restroom after so long. They quickly composed themselves and eventually Michelle spoke up. "Peter just ran off and now Ned's trying to convince me that he just left to the restroom," she exclaimed angrily, pointing an accusatory finger at the teenage boy beside her. "But I'm telling him he ran the opposite direction of the bathrooms. Please tell him you didn't see Peter when you were leaving the bathroom."

Danielle looked at Ned with a questioning glance and saw his wide eyes filled with panic. Something was wrong. Shit.

"Yeah, I saw him run in there," she lied as she quickly set down her cup of punch. "Ned, maybe we should go check on him."

"Yep. Let's go." Ned nodded eagerly and moved around the table to start to rush in the opposite direction of the bathrooms towards the hall. "Don't rush, don't rush, don't rush, don't rush," Ned whispered to her through gritted teeth. Then, when they eventually made it around the corner into the dark hall of the school, he shouted, "Rush!"

The pair broke into a dash as they ran down the hallways, through the maze of lockers. Daniellewssnt sure what Peter was running towards or why, but she knew she had that sinking feeling in her gut for a reason. Her and Ned slid around the corner going towards the back exit of the school. Danielle caught herself, as did Ned, and he managed to kee up with her pace in heels and a dress. Eventually, they made it towards the back door and saw a flash of bright light.

"Shit!" Danielle pulled Ned down beneath the door window. Someone was out there with Peter. He was getting attacked and for some reason they knew where he went to school. They knew who he was. Shit!

Shit!

Peter groaned as his chest hit the asphalt with a loud crunch, his body surrounded by small shards of glass from the broken bus he'd just fallen out of. His body felt sore but her could hear the Shocker behind him, the crunch of his shoes on the shards of glass and the loud buzzing noise from the electric gauntlet on his hand as it charged up.

Shit! How did he get here? Of all the people that had to be the Wing-Guy and the leader of the weapons dealers that him and Elle had been hunting down, it HAD to be his girlfriend's (Is that what they were now? He wasn't too sure, it was complicated now) dad. He could still here Toomes' voice from their talk in the car.

"And if you ever, ever interfere with my business again, I'll kill you and everyone you love... That cute little partner of yours included. What was her name again? Liz's friend... Danielle. I'll kill you both dead."

Peter grit his teeth in anger at his threat. His arms reaching out towards the web shooter just a few feet away that he had dropped when the Shocker had initially attacked him. "Why did he send you here?" Peter groaned as he continued to try and pull himself further towards the shooter. Just a few more inches-

It was then that he heard the gauntlet charging up as the Shocker spoke from above him. "Guess you'll never know." Shit...

"Hey!"

Just then, Peter turned his head in fear at the sound of a familiar voice. Standing a few yards away looking like a deer caught in headlights was Ned... SHIT. "No, no, no," Peter called out as the Shocker slowly turned his attention towards his helpless friend. Jesus, what was he doing?! "Ned, no-!" Peter called out just as the Shocker raised his charged gauntlet in the direction of the bus beside him he was aiming to launch at Ned. Then it all happened in slow motion.

Before the charged gauntlet could even touch the surface of the bus, an invisible force of massive power suddenly launched the Shocker into the air, across the yard, and into the bus just above Peter's sprawled out body. Peter looked up to see who could've possibly done that, and his eyes fell upon a small figure standing tall in a pale pink dress that blew gently in the wind with her long curly hair and a mask made of the same fabric as the dress covering her face. Just above the mask were her eyes that were glowing gold.

"Elle," Peter breathed a sigh of relief.

He watched as she kicked the other web-shooter beside her towards him. He jumped to his feet and caught it. With alarming speed, he slapped it on his wrist, spun around, and shot a large web at the bus beside him, sticking the Shocker to the side of it. "Yes," Peter whispered to himself victoriously.

"Peter?" Danielle called as she rushed over towards him. She slowed to halt when she took in what he was wearing. It looked like a baggy set of sweats, but painted blue and red and he had weird goggles on his face.

"What are you... Is that your old suit?" She asked at the same time he looked down at what she was wearing and asked, "Are you wearing a dress?"

"Woah," Ned gasped in amazement from beside them, his body still frozen in place from the shock of almost getting plowed by a bus that was going to be SHOR at him by a guy with a crazy gauntlet. "That was... epic."

Danielle turned her attention back to Peter then. "Peter, what's going on? How did he know where to find you?"

"Elle, listen to me– the guy with the wings is Liz's dad!" He exclaimed in a rush of words.

"What?" Both Ned and Danielle asked in bewilderment, their eyes wide with shock.

"I know," Peter quickly acknowledged how crazy, yet true the concept was. "Elle, we gotta tell Mr. Stark!"

"I left my phone in my purse back inside!" She exclaimed.

Peter turned to Ned. "Go get Elle's phone and call Mr. Stark. If he doesn't answer, call Happy Hogan. He's Mr. Stark's head of security! And, uh, get a computer and track my phone for me! Come on, Elle!"

And with that, the pair went dashing off to gain distance with Ned calling behind them, "Are you guys gonna be okay?!"

"Just go, Ned!" Danielle shouted as Peter added, "Hurry before he leaves town!"

Just then, Peter shot a web out onto a nearby building and turned to his partner. "You ready?"

"Always," she replied as Peter wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her up with his webs that carried the pair off the ground and into the distance.

A/N: Epic cliff-hanger and now we get into the action. MWHAHAHAHA. Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed it. Lmk whatcha think and your predictions for the big show down.
