PREFACE

SEATTLE UNDER SIEGE – DEATH TOLL RISES AGAIN.

That was what the newspapers have been telling us for the past months. I didn't think about it much. I just saw this as a way to grab their attention; it did a great job than I could have. Unlike the newspapers, they can't notice me.

Being invisible – well, metaphorically – had always been a part of my life for as long as I could remember. When I spoke up or did something, like raising my hand, people would turn their heads and say things like "where did you come from" or "I didn't see you there". Even though I was near them at the time.

Then, I was chased by three male bikers and I tried to get away from them. Until something landed between me and the bikers: a woman with flaming red curly hair. And she killed them one by one with her hands and teeth. It was like watching a bear tearing the flesh of three fishes. After her attack, she turned around slowly, revealing the blood on the corner of her mouth and her eyes matched the blood. Her red eyes widened as if she was surprised by my presence. Then, she smiled creepily at me.

"I didn't see you there, didn't I?" The woman spoke pleasantly to me.

Usually, I would have been annoyed by her response, but I was scared. I couldn't move my body. Suddenly she ran to me fast and grabbed my neck. She pushed me against the bricked wall and forced my head to face right. My breathing was rapid as my nerves quickened in fear.

"You would be a great addition to my army." She snarled in a whisper and her teeth collided with my neck. Her sharp teeth bit my flesh and I felt something burning inside me. It was like acid travelling through my veins and body.

She threw me onto the ground as she watched me suffer.

It burns. It burns so bad.
