AN: I do not own Bloodborne or The Fate Series, they're owned by Fromsoftware and TypeMoon respectively. I do own the plot though.
Alright, enjoy.
Blood Bound Night
Shirou awoke with a jolt, as the caravan bumped over the rocky road. He groaned and roused himself from the comfortable embrace of sleep, there were no nightmares this time as well. Sighing, Shirou thought back on why he was here in the first place.
Five Years ago
'More people are getting sick.' Thought Twelve year old Shirou as he made his way through Market area of Miyama, it had been half a year since Shirou's adoptive father Kiritsugu Emiya had passed away leaving Shirou in the hands of his guardian and surrogate sister Taiga Fujimura and since then a mysterious plague had taken a hold of the population.
It had started three months ago with people gaining a painful rash and spasms that occurred randomly with worst cases having rotting skin across the body giving a putrid smell to those infected.
The sickness had spread like wildfire, causing many to take extreme measures to secure their safety, richer families such as the Tohsaka and Matou had left the city while less fortunate ones had to stay and whether storm, people had attempted to isolate those infected, burn things believed to be contaminated and even so far as execute those infected.
With the rate of which the disease spread it was a wonder how some were still standing such as Shirou himself. Shirou could not recall the last time he'd been sick and even if had ever been it was not for long. Perhaps it may be one of the things he could be considered lucky for, Shirou thought to himself.
Then something caught Shirou's eye, people had begun to gather round a large horse driven caravan which had a foreign aesthetic depicting robe holding small bowls to the sky, it was lined with gold and was painted black and from within it came a tall man dressed in black garbs.
The man gazed across the forming audience and spoke "People of Miyama, I am Kirei Kotomine. A cleric of the healing church who along with my fellow members have come to cure you all from the sickness that plagues you."
Murmurs spread through the now large audience, doubting what Kotomine had declared. Shirou saw this and so did Kirei.
"I see you doubt my words. Worry not. For we shall give the cure now!" Kotomine spread his arms widely to the sides as an ornate chest was place in front of him by his compatriots. They opened it, revealing vials upon vials of red liquid.
The Cure.
"Rejoice, for the blood of the gods will cure your sickness!" Kotomine declared.
This had compelled people to try it and seeing as it was charity, saw no reason not to. As they did so those who were sick or injured began to quickly heal, causing more and more people to come and try. It was at this time Kotomine had noticed the redhead boy who was watching the scene.
"Child, tell me do you wish to be healed?" Kotomine questioned. Shirou simply shook his head
"No, it would be wasted on me. I don't have the sickness or an injury so it's better spent on someone who needs it." Shirou told him.
Instead of pestering or simply leaving Kotomine looked intrigued, as if trying to solve a puzzle.
"Tell me boy… what is your name?"
Shirou warily responded "Emiya Shirou."
"Hmm… Emiya…" Kotomine pondered, then suddenly his eyes widened for a millisecond and he began to grin widely.
"Emiya yes… it's best to let the sick be healed by the holy medium no? However, if you're in need of healing, go the church at the top of the hill. It is land I inherited from my father and will now be the healing churches base of operation for the area, feel free to come whenever you like. But let me warn you… the blood of the gods should not be taken carelessly." Kotomine advised in a way that sounded more ominous than it should, sending chills down Shirou's spine.
He quickly nodded and left without looking back. 'No way on earth I'm going to that place, that Kotomine gave me the chills.' Shirou thought as he reached his house and went to sooth his nerves through the art of cooking.
Despite the creepiness of Cleric Kotomine, the blood did work. Ridding Miyama town of the plague. This caused many who had fled to return and all seemed to return to normal.
Until that happened.
One Year ago
"And have I mentioned how euphoric to have that witch gone?" Said the student president of the prestigious Homurahara academy, Issei Ryuudou. Shirou sighed "Yes Issei, you have told multiple times today that you are happy that Tohsaka-san is away on a trip and witch? Really? I know you hate her and everything but isn't that a bit… much?" Tohsaka Rin had gone on a trip to attend family business in some foreign land and Issei had been positively ecstatic with her gone.
"Sides Issei, she isn't the only one who is leaving Sakura and Shinji are and even Kouichirou-sensei are leaving." Issei stoically nodded, then pondered "Yes, while I do know that sensei leaving is due his betrothed wanting to marry in her homeland, I do not know why the Matou siblings are. Even if it is only for a short period."
"Well I asked Sakura last night and she said it was nothing to worry about only that her gramps was ageing and didn't know how long he had left so they decided to go to his homeland for his wellbeing. She said the place was called…" Shirou paused trying to sound out the foreign word, mind you he had decent English but the name was quite the unusual one "Yharnam I believe." He finished.
"Yharnam? Hmm… strange so were the witch and sensei… well, it understandable. Even such a place so far west is legendary here as the central city of the Healing Church, people go there from all over the world to witness their miracles. Well not that I don't respect them but I don't entirely trust their holy blood, ironic coming from me who wishes to be a Buddhist monk I know but… that blood feels uncanny in way I can't describe." Issei shivered, Shirou nodded in agreement
"Yeah, I get that feeling too. But it's the strange smell that gets me." He said. Issei questioned "smell?"
Shirou explained "The blood smells like iron much like it should, but there's another smell to. One a lot more… old is the best the describe it."
Issei hummed in thought "Well, as much as I'd love to continue the conversation the bell will ring soon so we best be off." Shirou agreed and they packed up and went to class.
The school day went uninterrupted and was in all ways, just another normal school day. After leaving school and walking the direction of his house hear started hearing wet, sickening, crunching noises from within the woods. Against his better judgement his heroic side one in believing someone maybe in danger.
Well he was right about the danger.
But not to whom…
As he made his way inside the woods he started to see a hunched figure bending over in what looked like to be pain. As Shirou got closer he could see that it was a man, he had the common clothes of the area but they were hardly recognisable as they had been torn to shreds. The man began to violently shake and wail something he could not quite catch.
"Sir what is wrong! Are you in pain? Is it an injury or a disease or condition of some kind? Sir?" More wailing and wet cracking noises "Sir!" Shirou finally shouted. This had the man pause and slowly stand to full height, it was then Shirou realised that the man was tall. Abnormally so, standing at around five meters high and was incredibly lanky. The hair on his body was long and thick like fur and when he turned around to face Shirou he wondered if he was really human as a wolf like head with razor sharp teeth glared back at him. It was only then Shirou realised what the man had been wailing about.
"Blood."
Then the beast jumped an-
"Hey boy! Wake up, we're there." Said the driver as Shirou jolted back awake again. He must've fell asleep again.
"Where?" Shirou sleepily asked.
The man snorted "where else do you think?" he said sarcastically
"Yharnam."
