Kim Possible: Invisible

BY LJ58

Ron Stoppable eyed his watch again as he stood outside his house and looked up and down the street.

Kim was supposed to be coming to pick him up for his date, and she usually wasn't late. If anything, she was often early. He frowned again, looking up and down the street even as he heard a car door, and looked to one side to see Kim's Roth suddenly starting to materialize like one of those optical illusions.

"What….?"

"Ron. It's me," Kim's voice came out of nowhere, making him yelp, and waved his hands around as if trying to ward off something.

"Ron," Kim sighed, and he frowned as he turned now, tracking her voice.

"KP? Uh, you're not dead, are you? I mean…."

"Stealth suit accident, Ron," she told him. "So I don't think we should go out tonight. Not unless you want people to think you're talking to yourself."

"Uhm…."

"Ron, I can't turn off my stealth. Lately, I have to eat more, too, or I start getting sick. Really sick," she grimaced.

"What about Wade…"

"Wade screwed up," she muttered. "Worse, he used GJ help to screw up. I get the feeling I'm stuck unless I can figure this out myself."

"But…. Doesn't Wade always fix things?"

"This time he's the one that screwed me up, Ron," she spat. "This was his doing. He used the PDVI power core to power my suit's stealth mode, and it somehow….overwhelmed by own cells, and infused me with the same energy."

"You can't just….turn it off."

"It's in me, Ron. In my cells. You tell me, how do I turn myself off?"

"Oh, man. That's…confusing," he said as he kept surreptitiously looking around but seeing nothing.

"Ron, I'm completely invisible. Look, can we go inside and talk about this. I'd rather not have this conversation on your front lawn."

"Yeah, the neighbors already think I'm a little nuts at times anyway," he sighed.

Kim didn't comment.

Ron led the way, and said, "So, uh, if you eat something…. Can you see it going down," he asked out of the blue as he opened his front door.

"Apparently, everything I touch vanishes, too. You must have seen my car appear. If I'm touching it, it vanished. If I change clothes, they vanish. Anything I touch….completely fade," Kim said in disgust.

"So….you could walk around naked, and no one would even know," he gasped.

"Ron," she groaned. "No, I'm not naked."

"Oh. Okay. I was just….curious."

Kim sighed and shook her head at him.

"Your room," she asked.

"Ah, mom is home," he murmured.

"She won't see me," Kim reminded him.

"Oh, right. Right."

"Ron is that you," Mrs. Stoppable called out from the kitchen. "I thought you were going on, sweetie."

"Uh….. Still waiting on Kim, mom. She hasn't….showed yet."

"Right. Knowing her, she's off running around again. Honestly, that girl can't sit still for a second. How you two ever plan on making a family is beyond me. When I was a little girl….."

"Quick, upstairs. She won't be stopping for at least twenty minutes."

"And I thought dad could be silly."

"Mom's not silly. She's serious. You never heard the lecture I got for being born male, and not a very good male, either."

"O-kaaaay," Kim murmured and followed him into his room.

"Where's Rufus," she asked.

"Probably with Hana. She had a sleepover, and lately, Rufus has been hanging with her. With work and college, I can't carry him around as much as I used to, so he likes playing with her."

"I can see that," Kim said.

"So, you're saying Wade knows, but….he hasn't fixed you yet?"

"I don't think he has a clue. I plan on talking to the guy in GJ that gave him this stupid idea next, but I'm not feeling real hopeful just now. Frankly, if he doesn't have any clues, I'm not sure what to do."

"Surely Wade is working on something."

"Well, I hope so, but the last time I saw him he wasn't sounding real hopeful either," Kim muttered sourly.

"Oh," Ron said and dropped on his bed.

Then jumped up, and looked around wildly.

"Ron, I'm at your desk. You're safe. Your mom can't see me anyway. Remember?"

"Oh, right. Right. So," he said, eyeing his empty desk chair. "You really….?"

Even as he stared, his desk chair began to slowly fade.

"Whoa," he gaped and stared at the chair. "My chair."

"It's still here, Ron. Like I said, if I touch something, it vanishes, too."

"Weird."

"Weird," she sputtered. "Try being invisible and not even able to see yourself without this stupid visor I have to wear," she complained.

"Oh. So, how did this happen," he asked.

"Well, as I said, Wade sent me a new battle suit with a new stealth system. One that apparently used the same power core as the PDVI. Something he called multi-phasic energies."

"Weird," Ron said again as Kim went on with her explanation.

Fifteen minutes later they were sitting in silence as Ron absorbed her story, and then Kim sighed audibly when he had yet to say a word. Ron jumped at her sighing, looking around, and then grumbled, "Oh, right."

"Ron, you knew I came in with you twenty minutes ago," she complained.

"Ah, can I say I forgot for a moment without sounding…."

"Sounding what," Kim's indignant response demanded.

"I'm thinking," Ron said with a familiar tone of desperation.

"Ron, I'm scared. What if Wade can't fix this," she asked him.

"KP, I'm still here. I'll always be here. Even if you're not."

Kim sighed again.

"Hey," he said, holding out his arms. "Need a hug?"

He felt unseen arms slide around him a moment later, and from the corner of his eye saw his chair slowly appearing even as he realized he was starting to slowly vanish. Howling, he jumped up away from her, and yelped, declaring, "I'm melting!"

"Ron," Kim groaned as he backpedaled now. "I told you, whatever I touch disappears."

"But….it comes back," he said, looking down to see his body restoring itself.

"Yes," she sighed. "So far," she added.

"So far. So far. Then it might not come back if you wait too long, or something? Oh, man, are you going to be invisible if you wait too long. Oh, man, KP, what about college? How will you attend classes? How will you do anything if you're invisible?"

"I don't know," Kim said quietly as she stood there, and then heard footsteps on the stairs.

Then the door burst open, and Mrs. Stoppable looked around with a glower as she demanded, "Is someone in here with you?"

"Uh, well, no, mom. Of course not," he sputtered. "I mean, do you see anyone," he smiled wanly as he gestured around, and his mother eyed every corner of his room.

"Who were you talking, too?"

"Uh, just hung up from talking to Kim. She….couldn't make it tonight. Secret mission stuff, or something."

"And you didn't go?"

"Uh, secret personal mission stuff, I guess. Anyway, she didn't need me this time."

"Just as well. You need to focus on your classes, young man. This isn't high school. If you don't pass, you may never get a decent job."

Gina Stoppable closed the door behind her, and Ron grimaced as he looked around again.

"Kim?"

There was no reply. Then he realized the window was open, and he went to look out at the street and noticed the Roth was gone now.

"Kim," he murmured and reached for his communicator. "Wade," he called as the young genius appeared on his screen. "What happened to KP? And why haven't you fixed her yet?"

Wade only grimaced at Ron's very earnest expression.
