Kim Possible: Invisible

Kim didn't go to Dr. Director first.

She crept into GJ, finding it surprisingly easy in spite of all their security, and then went to the research labs where Dr. Fyne was working on something that looked like he was trying to infuse cells with some kind of nanite cell.

She shook her head as she realized he was still working on perfecting nano-morphing even after all the research suggested it only created mental instability in the end. If Camille Leon didn't teach them that, nothing would. Because anyone else was just as loony, but they had been smart enough to rid themselves of the biotech once they realized how it was affecting them.

Not Camille. She still thought she was better off as a shapeshifting loon slipping through life using masks to hide from the law.

Of course, Kim had long felt Camille had already been more than a little wacky long before Dr. Beaufox had ever offered her his dubious treatment. Still, from what she did know of cellular infusion….

"You're making a mistake," she murmured from behind the eccentric scientist that led Global Justice's research teams.

The man yelped, spun around, and frowned as he saw no one in the lab.

"Hello," he asked, looking toward the door that remained slightly open.

"I was afraid of this," Kim said. "You're really an idiot, aren't you," she asked as she scooped up several of his cell samples, and dropped them into her equipment pouch. She was more than certain that knowing Alyn Fyne's reputation he was not using backups. He rarely did. Which meant confiscating the nanite cells he was intending to use in his experiment would end this particular debacle.

She would bet money he had some dupe ready for an experiment they didn't even realize could be more than harmful to their health.

"What is….?"

"Did you warn Wade about using the PDVI modular power cores in stealth tech," Kim demanded now, glaring at the man as she looked around, hunting his laptop he often used for his private notes and research so no one could find out what he was really up to at times until after the fact.

"Possible? Then it worked! The power cores do create perennial stealth that uses the host's own body to maintain the effect? Wonderful!"

"Wonderful," Kim hissed. "And did you consider how to turn it off, you short-sighted imbecile," she hissed, spotting his laptop under a lab table on a small bench, and snatching it up now.

The small laptop vanished almost instantly the moment she lifted it and stayed invisible as she opened her suit and slid it into her garment to close to hold it in place for now. The scientist kept looking around, actually trying to see where she might be.

"Don't you see, Miss Possible. This is incredible. No telltale shimmer or afterimage. No indication of an opaque image left to betray you. Using the dimensional phasic energies creates a genuine asynchronization that gives the user complete invisibility. We can use genuine stealth to surprise our enemies and overwhelm them with true surprise and no one will ever see them coming."

"And after? You didn't answer me, moron," Kim growled, starting to feel more than indignant. "How do you turn it off? Recall all those invisible agents you imagine having normal lives they'd like to get back to after their missions."

"Well…. That is…. I hadn't gotten that far," he sputtered as he looked around.

Kim said nothing.

"Of course not. You never think past your own insane theories. You're as bad as Drakken," she roared and punched him so hard he flew across the room, slammed into a wall lined with chemicals on a shelf, and slid down to land out cold as the shelves collapsed atop him.

"Stupid, short-sighted…. I can't believe Wade listened to you," she swore as she stalked out of the lab after wrecking what she deemed a torture chamber. Then she spat on the fallen man and left.

She didn't even bother to see Dr. Director. She could already guess that woman's reaction. She'd claim to get her best people on the matter, and then she'd suggest a few operations that just had to be managed right away. Anything for GJ. Anything for the cause.

Suddenly Kim was thinking all of Shego's complaints about the woman might just be justified.

She grumbled, and stood in the hall, watching agents walk past her without a clue she was standing right next to her. She was invisible in more than one way. She was an idiot. She trusted those that shouldn't have been trusted.

Clenching fists in fury, she now turned and headed back to the exit as she had to do some serious thinking. Very serious thinking.

"Dr. Director," Wade said somberly as he answered her page two days later. "I was about to call you. Have you heard from Kim?"

"Strange you should mention Kimberly. She apparently paid Dr. Fyne a visit in his lab," she told the young genius as she eyed him with genuine concern. "Right before she beat him senseless, destroyed his entire lab, and left him out cold with a broken jaw."

"Oh. Oh, I…. I was afraid of this," he grimaced.

"Afraid of what, Dr. Lode. No one has seen her in three days. Not since she took down Killigan again. In fact, no one truly saw her then…."

"She was using our new stealth tech system Dr. Fyne and I devised."

Dr. Director frowned now.

"I was under the impression the prototype had not been completely tested, Dr. Lode. I certainly had not released it for trials. There were still concerns over some of the control systems on such a volatile potential of obviously dangerous tech. Or was I wrong?"

"Dr. Fyne assured me he had perfected the system's control mechanisms, and GJ had released it for field trials," Wade frowned now. "I even went over the systems myself, and everything looked…."

"And," Dr. Director demanded, cutting off his protests.

"And….Kim said when she switched it on she couldn't shut off the stealth," he grimaced.

"What are you saying, Dr. Lode," Dr. Director demanded.

"Even removing the suit doesn't cancel the stealth effect," he admitted. "We know because she tried. Meanwhile, anything Kim touches also vanishes so long as she holds or touches it. That's not the real problem, Dr. Director."

"Explain."

"I….learned at the start the power cores somehow infused her cells with the multi-phasic energy they released."

"You're telling me….?"

"Kim now embodies the dimensional phasing energy we hoped to exploit with the suit's tech. Only from my initial examination, it will not fade as I first hoped. It's only going to loop continually, perennially renewed by her own metabolism. She…. She will never escape the stealth shroud that now covers her because she literally embodies it," Wade said.

"I see. That may make her a valuable agent, Dr. Lode. Still, that does not suggest much hope for allowing her or anyone else using it to live a normal life."

"No. And the primary issue I was about to bring up with you is related. Based on everything I tested of late, that same energy is going to destabilize and influence her mind, too. Dr. Director, she's going to become increasingly paranoid, hostile, and….very dangerous to everyone around her."

Dr. Director scowled now.

"Suggestions?"

"I only have one at this point. Containment."

"You really have no other ideas," she exploded now, slapping her hands down on the desk as if about to stand. "You?"

"I'm sorry. I have one other idea, but…. It would be too dangerous. In fact, if I'm right, it would likely be…."

"How dangerous?"

"Lethal," he told her grimly.

"So, we need to contain Kimberly, or she may well turn into our worst nightmare rather than our greatest champion," Dr. Director said quietly as she sat back in her chair now. "Is that what you're telling me, Dr. Lode?"

"I'm sorry. I should have been more careful from the start, but…."

"Keep working on it. And if you can help neutralize Kimberly long enough for us to take her into custody…."

"I'm working on something now. I'm hoping she'll be back to hunt help before long. If she visited Dr. Fyne…."

"I did say he's in medical now with a broken jaw. I suggest you take every precaution, young man."

"Right. I'll be in touch."

Wade closed the frequency, sat back, and sighed.

"Kim," he sighed. "I'm so sorry."

There was no reply.
