Kim Possible: Invisible

Dr. Director walked into her office, nodded at Will Du, and then noted Ron was there, too, looking as grim as she had ever seen him.

"Okay, so what's the sitch as Kim says," Ron asked. "And why isn't she here. I mean, she's not, is she," he asked, looking around as if uncertain.

"She's not," Will told him as Dr. Director walked around her desk to take a seat.

"We have a problem, Ronald," she said quietly. "And it's Kimberly."

"Oh, because she got stuck in that stealth suit? Right?"

"Indeed," Will said dryly as ever.

"Okay, so what's going on now?"

"We've been conferring with Wade," Dr. Director began.

"Weird, because he hasn't talked to me at all. And I haven't heard from KP at all either. I figured they were off on some top-secret deal."

"Ronald," Dr. Director cut him off. "Kimberly is the problem. If you know she became trapped in her multi-phasic energization loop…."

Ron's eyes crossed, and he frowned.

"Her what did what," he sputtered.

"She can't shut off her invisibility," Will told him.

"Oh, right. I knew that. Didn't I say I knew that? Only why didn't you just say you knew it, too," he asked Dr. Director.

The woman sighed.

"Ronald, the stealth cloak's energy is beginning to affect her mind."

"Her mind. What do you mean?"

"She means, Stoppable," Will said, "She's growing dangerously unstable. She's attacking even friends, and behaving atypically."

"Kim?"

"She put Dr. Fyne in the hospital after destroying his lab, and refuses to speak to Wade any longer," Will Du nodded.

Ron frowned now.

"Kim did that?"

"How long ago did you see her, so to speak," Dr. Director asked.

"Ah, we had a date Saturday night. Right after she got back from Scotland. Well, I didn't see her, though, so I suppose that doesn't count."

Will sighed, shaking his head.

"And how did she seem to you."

"Well, kind of bummed out. She was pretty down. Especially since we couldn't go out. We had been planning that date for weeks, you know, since with all the college and missions, we barely had a break lately. Then when we thought…."

"Ronald, how did you part?"

"Part? We didn't part. I mean, she didn't say anything about breaking up. Wait, did she say something to you," Ron asked, looking as if he were ready to panic.

The two agents sighed, and Dr. Director cleared her throat.

"Ronald, how did she leave you that night? Did she sound hopeful? Depressed? How was she acting?"

"Well, bummed, for certain. Only, ah, mom kind of interrupted, and while I was telling her nothing was going on, you know, because we were in my room. But seriously, nothing was going on because KP really was down. Anyway, she blazed on me. Just….vanished. I mean, after she had already vanished, she really vanished. I think she went right out the window."

"Have you tried to call her since," Will asked him?

"Well, I tried to call Wade…."

"And Kimberly," Dr. Director asked.

"What about her," he asked.

"Did you try to call her since your…nondate," Dr. Director asked in an exasperated tone.

"Well, no. I mean, she's invisible? How would I know if she answered? Or not. It would be useless without knowing. Right? That's why I called Wade. Or tried to call Wade."

Both agents sighed now, and Will only shook his head.

"Why don't you try calling her now," Dr. Director asked. "Tell her to meet us here. In my office. Tell her it's important."

"Sure. No big, as Kim says," Ron smiled now and pulled out his communicator.

The two Global Justice agents seemed to tense as Ron tapped the device, and then eyed it as nothing seemed to happen.

"What is it, Ron," Kim's voice came a moment later even if the screen remained blank.

"Uh, so, I guess you're still invisible," he asked, "Because I don't see you."

"Ron. What is it," she asked in the same exasperation Dr. Director had voiced.

"Oh. Right. Well, I'm at GJ. You know, with Dr. Director. The woman with the eye patch," he explained as Will gave him an incredulous expression.

"I know who Dr. Director is, Ron. What do you need? I'm kind of busy just now."

"You are? I mean….doing what," he asked.

"Never mind. What do you need," Kim demanded.

"Oh, right. Well, Dr. Director would like you to come down to her office. She has some kind of….ah, an important deal she wants you to help with. So, you in," he asked brightly.

"No," Kim growled. "And tell that lying hypocrite if she thinks I'm putting myself in the care of those idiots that helped do this to me in the first place, she's the one that is insane," Kim spat, and the device went dead.

"Whoa," Ron blinked, staring at the now blank screen that indicated the channel had been cut off. "What did you do," he demanded, looking less comedic now, and more determined.

Dr. Director, more than familiar with Ronald, chose to tell him the truth.

"Dr. Fyne apparently convinced Wade to use untested tech in Kimberly's new battle suit. That's what malfunctioned and turned her invisible. Only it's affecting her mind, Ronald. Right now, she's feeling hostile and increasingly paranoid. From what Wade suggests, she's only going to get worse."

"Let me get this straight," Ron asked. "You knew Fyne was a loopy moron that gets his idea from cartoons, and you still let him work on experiments in your labs? On people," Ron exclaimed as if beyond shocked.

"He does have some very good ideas," Will pointed out.

"He's as crazy as Dementor," Ron sputtered.

"Ronald…."

"You do recall Kimberly put him in the hospital," Will Du remarked.

"Good," Ron quipped and walked out without looking back.

"That….could have gone better," Will Du commented only after he was gone.

"Obviously. Still, it implies Kimberly is definitely keeping him out of the loop. Whatever she's doing, she is apparently still reacting to her new state on her own. Hopefully, that will allow us to track her and contain her more easily since we do know her usual methods, and her typical sloppiness you decry may aid us in taking her into custody. As of now, make sure all our people have standard tasers and containment spheres as part of their equipment."

"I'll order the changes at once," he nodded. "Still, I am concerned."

"Over what," Dr. Director asked.

"Possible said she was busy," Will Du remarked with a thoughtful expression. "Doing what," he asked her.

"That, Agent Du, is a very good question. Make the equipment changes, and ensure every agent knows what is going on. We cannot risk her doing anything in her current state of mind."

"I suggest we keep Dr. Lode's residence under observation, too. She's bound to go back after him in due time."

"I have Agent Burnham's team on assignment there now," Dr. Director told him.

"Smart," he nodded.

"If I was clever, I could have prevented this fiasco," Betty Director swore. "Even I didn't expect Fyne to actually sway Wade into using that untested tech."

"They both have sizeable egos, Dr. Director. I wager they both thought they could manage it."

"Indeed," the woman said in a dark scowl. "Just carry out your orders. And put a team on Ronald. Sooner or later Kimberly may try contacting him again. Out of our ability to contain."

"Of course. What about IFR or thermal imaging glasses to aid our search?"

"Useless," Dr. Director admitted. "I had already asked Dr. Lode about that one. Apparently, Kimberly has the only pair of special glasses attuned to the special energy frequency that would let us detect her. Since you would need the specific energy core in her suit to tune another pair to the exact asynchronous dimensional frequency band he cannot replicate those glasses either. He slipped up with that one because even he didn't consider we might need more than a single pair."

"That does not ease my anxiety over this operation."

"Just do your best, and stay alert. Just now, it's all we can do," Dr. Director told him firmly.

"Understood," he nodded and left the office.

Dr. Director shook her head and noted Kim's frequency didn't reply even if she had been calling it after Ron had left. She was definitely growing hostile. Increasingly hostile. That did not settle her mind if Kim reached a point where she might decide to genuinely turn on them.

~KP~

"You called it, KP," Ron said quietly as he drove back home in his borrowed car he had used to visit GJ. "They were setting a trap for certain. I pretended not to notice, but the entire floor was lined with a taser grid, and they were both wearing insulated footwear."

"I guessed," the unseen figure said as the communicator still showed no one onscreen as he spoke with Kim. "And it confirms my suspicions. They're not trying to help me. Just grab me for their own use."

"You really don't think they could help?"

"Ron, Fyne admitted it himself before I left him….."

"With a broken jaw," he asked just as quietly.

"Ron, he was happy. He was happy he had proven his stupid theory. He told me I should be happy I could be so useful now. Who needs a normal life so long as I could be his stupid invisible super-agent," he swore. "He didn't even consider a cure, because all he and GJ wanted were special agents they could use for their own plans."

"Uncool," Ron said. "So, what will you do now?"

"I already know Wade won't help."

"Seriously," Ron gasped now. "I thought he was on our side?"

"Lately he's on GJ's side, Ron. Haven't you noticed? He's been working for them more and more these days, and even works with their loopy experts a lot lately. Like Fyne," she grumbled. "Even Wade told me I should be glad I can at least do more good like this. Then he claimed he couldn't fix this because it might be too dangerous. Too dangerous to even try," she spat in disgust.

"You don't think he's right?"

"What I think, Ron is this is exactly what Wade and GJ wanted. Why would they help if it didn't give them what they wanted," she demanded.

"Oh. So, what now," he asked quietly.

"Now, I have to try to fix this myself. I'm going to see someone that….might be able to help. Don't tell anyone."

"I don't even know where are. I sure don't know where you're going," he declared.

"And, Ron. For now… I guess Team Possible is in your hands. I can't work like this," she told him. "I won't give them what they want. It's up to you if you want to keep helping GJ, but I won't. I won't be what they want."

"Sure, Kim," Ron said quietly. "I get that," he told her. "Listen…. Take care of yourself. Okay? I'm still here if you need backup."

"I know, Ron. Just watch your back. If they come after me, you can bet they might decide to use you, too. For bait, if nothing else."

Ron's eyes glittered with blue for a moment.

"Let them try," he murmured even as Kim's channel went dark. "Let them try," and he drove home.
