I'm new at this, first fanfic. Reviews will be greatly appreciated! Sorry it has to be such as sad topic, but I hope its a way to say goodbye.
The Final Goodbye
He slowly opened his eyes. Around him, was nothing but white, penetrating blankness. With no idea where he was, he stood up, and blinked a couple of times. It felt like he had been hurdled through a wall, but now, he just felt completely free.
What happened?
His thoughts seemed to echo inside his head, repeating over and over again.
Squinting, he could see a small figure coming closer and closer. As the figure approached him, he could make out certain features: long, silky curls and a beautiful, smiling face...
Suddenly, his heart melted. It was the woman he thought he would never see again, the woman he had loved more than anything he could ever imagine. His Michelle.
She was wearing what she had been wearing that morning. That awful morning, that seemed years away. But the scratches and tears were all gone. She was again, flawless.
She was within touching distance of him, and all he wanted to to was to take her in his arms, and never let go. But he wasn't sure if she was real, or if any of this was real. Instead, he just stared at her.
"It didn't take very long, did it?"
She grinned, and gently asked, "Were you eager to see me?"
It didn't make any sense. How could this be happening? Just hours ago he had been told she was gone, gone forever. How could she be standing right before him?
"B-but.. Y-your'e.."
Memories of the past day flooded into his brain. The nerve gas.. Henderson.. The needle... And then..
Blankness.
His heart began to beat rapidly. He suddenly realized that the sharp piercing pain in his chest was no longer there.
"Michelle, are we..?"
She took his hand, and gave it a tight squeeze. "Yes Tony, we are."
He thought it would break his heart. He thought when he knew he was.. well.. gone, forever, he would be disappointed, that he couldn't live the rest of his life.
But living without Michelle? He could have never done it.
So, instead of feeling grief, all he could do was grin. And kiss and hug the woman he though he would never see again.
At this moment, he was ready. Ready to face what came ahead of him, with his wife, always at his side.
This time, he took her hand, and began to lead the way. Where was he going? He had no idea, but wherever it was, he knew it was the right way. As he walked beside her, he put his lips right up to Michelle's ear and whispered, "I missed you."
The two held onto each other tightly, becoming fainter and fainter, disappearing into the blankness. They had no idea what was in store for them, but this time, they knew they would always do it together.
