Dot.Hack/Vagrant Fragments
Prologue
Christmas Eve, 2005
'No matter where you were on the planet, you know this date if you've lived it. Can't remember? Well here are two words, Pluto Kiss. Still nothing? Well Pluto Kiss, a virus, is considered to have been the ultimate virus, put its mark on the world by showing how vulnerable we really were.
'The virus knocked out every pc system on the planet, almost starting a nuclear holocaust when the virus knocked out the mighty US defense system. When the computers went offline the system thought that Washington DC had been destroyed, and was ready to launch nukes all over the world if the system hadn't come online when it did.
'The thing is all this damage came from a ten year old kid in LA, and it would have been the greatest act of terrorism too if it was an actual terrorist operation.
'After that, for a year and a half the internet was under constant surveillance and strictly regulated. Though this didn't stop news from circulating that 1024 users were being given unrestricted internet access, the thing was there were many questions as to what the reason was.
Many speculated that it had something to do with the game C.C. corp. was developing, but still, even today it's unknown.' I clicked the save entry of my blog as I went to the door after a knock a few minutes ago.
A package was delivered, and as I opened it while I was standing outside, my eyes widened seeing what it was. Hurried by the surprise I closed the door and headed back to my office room in my apartment.
As I pulled the contents of the box out, I set a copy of The World, Fragment on my desk as I sat staring at the box for a while awestruck. With the game that meant only one thing, I'd been chosen as one of the beta testers for The World.
I quickly got to work setting things up.
