Note: I really couldn't decide what I wanted to do in this chapter, but after some thought, I chose to just do a simple Star Fox story (I know, I should take a break from doing Star Fox stories). Consider this a sequel of sorts to chapter 4.

Chapter 15: Katt Monroe: Assistant

At the Corneria City Theater, Katt Monroe was getting dressed for the show that was about to begin. While she preferred to fly in her ship, the pink cat also liked to partake in stage shows. At times, she would star in plays, including some of the most popular ones in Corneria. But tonight, she was doing something different: she was a magician's assistant.

"Miss Monroe?" Someone knocked on the door.

"Yes?" Katt asked.

"Risotto is waiting for you." The person behind the door said.

"Tell him that I'll be there shortly." The feline said.

When the unidentified person was gone, Katt got finished dressing up and found herself walking out the door. Down the hallway was a black cat wearing a silver velvet suit and tie. Katt herself was wearing a pink and black leotard and ballet slippers.

"Mr. Risotto." Katt greeted the cat.

"Are you sure that you want to do this?" Risotto asked, "I mean, you haven't been in a magic show before."

"But I've been on stage," The pink cat stated, "so I'll be fine."

"Yet, you fly a starship." Risotto noted.

"Let's just get this show on the road," Katt sighed, "I want to have a good time."

Walking on to the stage, Risotto was followed by Katt. The two cats then looked at the audience with smiles.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen." Risotto spoke into a microphone, "I am Risotto and the cat standing next to me is my assistant: the lovely Katt Monroe."

The audience applauded.

"For my first trick," Risotto announced, "I will give Katt a pretty scarf."

Katt couldn't help but giggle, seeing as the feline magician had began to pull a multicolored scarf out of his mouth. When he was done, Risotto put it around the pink cat.

"Thanks." She smiled.

"Why, you're welcome!" Risotto slyly grinned.

The audience applauded again.

"Say Katt, what's that behind your ear?" The black cat asked as he tilted his head.

"I don't know," The pink cat played along, "what is it?"

Risotto put his hand behind her ear and pulled out a small coin.

"It seems that you have been hiding money on your head!" The black cat stated.

"It seems I have!" Katt said with fake surprise, playing along with the magic trick.

The audience laughed and applauded.

"Now then," Risotto said, " can you go get my hat?"

"Sure." Katt nodded her head before walking off the stage. When she came back, she handed the feline magician a top hat.

"Since you've brought it to me," Risotto stated, "you get the honor of reaching into it."

Katt put her hand into the hat, where she felt something plush and silky. The pink cat recognized that feeling from when she visited the petting zoo as a child. Bringing her hand out, she held a bunny by its ears. In response to that, the audience gushed over the rabbit.

"Look at that," Risotto said, "you've made a friend!"

Blushing madly, Katt handed the rabbit back to the black cat.

"I really couldn't take care of him," The pink cat sighed, "even if I wanted to."

"What a shame." Risotto stated, "I think that you could make a great pet owner!"

The audience applauded.

"The next trick is a simple escape trick!" Risotto said as he brought out a big cardboard box, "I will have Katt lock me in here and cover it with a blanket!"

When the black cat went into the box, Katt threw a blanket over it. After taking the blanket off, the pink cat saw that the box had disappeared.

"Oh my!" She said, "Where did he go?!"

"I'm back here!" Risotto's voice called out.

"Where are you at, Mr. Risotto?!" Katt called, pretending not to know.

"I'm in the audience!" Risotto said as he walked towards the stage, the spotlight showing him in full view.

"And now, you're here!" The pink cat stated.

The audience applauded as Risotto walked onto the stage. The black cat then brought a magician's box out and opened it up.

"Now Katt," Risotto said, "I ask for you to get in the box."

"You're the magician." Katt said as she crawled into the box, her head and feet sticking out. Risotto then closed the box and pulled out a handsaw.

"I will now saw my assistant in half," The black cat announced, "but I want to be careful so that I do not hurt her!"

Risotto sliced down the middle of the box with the saw. All of this happened while Katt waited patiently. When he got done, he pushed the halves away from each other.

"Looks like you'll have to pay half of your bill!" The black cat joked.

The audience laughed at the magician's corny joke.

"Very funny," Katt snarked, "can you put me back in one piece?"

"Anything for a lady!" Risotto smiled as he pushed the halves back together. After doing that, the black cat opened the box and let Katt out.

"Thanks, I guess." The pink cat rubbed her back.

"And now for the big finale!" Risotto announced.

"What is the big finale?" An audience member asked.

"This!" The black cat said as he pulled on a rope that was near him. After the rope was pulled, an explosion went off, causing pieces of hard candy to rain down. The audience applauded wildly as the magician and his assistant walked off the stage.

"Thank you! Thank you!" Risotto said.

"You've been a wonderful audience!" Katt smiled at the crowd.

"That was fun!" Katt said as she and Risotto walked down the hallway.

"You did better than I thought you would!" Risotto said in appreciation.

"I think that I would do better as an actress!" The pink cat giggled.

"Honestly," The magician stated, "you would make a great magician as well!"

"Oh," She said, "I don't think that I could get on your turf!"

"You wouldn't really be getting in my way," Risotto said, "you would just be another stage magician!"

"I guess that I'll see you again some time!" Katt said.

"As will I!" The black cat said before the pink cat walked into her dressing room.

When she entered the dressing room, Katt saw that someone had left a flower bouquet with a note on it next to the mirror.

"If it's from that Panther guy," She ventured, "I'll keep the note and tell him that I've already got a guy."

The pink cat picked up the note and saw that it wasn't from Panther, but rather Falco. The note read like this:

Dear Katt,

Sorry if I couldn't come to your show. To make a long story short, Slippy was an idiot again. He messed with a sample of the stomach bug when he walked with the lab. As a reward for his ignorance, he got the bug and spread it to Fox and Peppy. Krystal and I are trying to take care of them. As an apology gift, I got you some flowers from the florist. I hope that you're not allergic to any of them.

Take care Kitten,

Falco Lombardi

Katt smiled, accepting the avian's apology. Even though he didn't come to the show, he was still nice enough to get her a gift.

"I love that beak-faced idiot." The pink cat said to herself.

Note: Since I have been giving Krystal a lot of unwanted attention (or what would basically amount to it if I didn't like her as much as I did), I decided to make this chapter Katt-centric. I didn't know whether to have Star Fox cameo at the end or to just mention them. However, I decided to just mention them going through a medical emergency (no thanks to Slippy, even though he's brilliant at times). I hope that everyone is doing okay. What did you guys think of this chapter? I wrote it because I saw that there actually saw a picture of Krystal being dawn in half and wondered "has anyone done a picture of any of the other characters doing a magic trick?" Not that I mind Krystal art in the very least. Let me know what you think of this chapter when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
