Chapter 5

Frisk was walking on a large grassfield. He saw Jack running towards him. It was the grassfield that both Jack and Frisk played when they were little.

""Hey hey. Are you listening?" Jack asked. "Frisk! Are you listening?"

"Oh! Sorry, what were you saying again, Jack?" Frisk asked. Frisk was lost in thought and could not hear what Jack said at all before.

Frisk looked around. "Maybe getting stuck in the monster realm was just a dream. I am glad it was a dream." Frisk thought.

"I was saying." Jack continued. "We are going to be late to the football game. We will be late if we stay here longer. Let's go!"

And then the two of them started running very fast. Jack was a lot faster than Frisk and then all of a sudden, Jack's body slowly broke down into fragments and disappeared. And soon, the same thing happened to the surrounding places. Frisk was scared. And before he knew it, Frisk was in a dark and empty space. Frisk then felt something poking the back of his shoulder from behind. He turned around to see what it was. It was Flowey. Flowey threw two swords that impaled Frisk at the same time. Frisk screamed as loud as he could.

When Frisk came to, he was sleeping on his bed in his room at Toriel's house. "Oh phew that was just a dream. Thank god." Frisk thought. He was relieved that the whole thing that just happened was just a dream. "I guess I will go downstairs to see if Toriel is there." Frisk thought.

Frisk then made his way downstairs. He saw two other doors, each leading to different rooms as he was on his way to the stairs. It did not take long for him to reach the ground floor. He looked everywhere on the ground floor. He checked the kitchen, dining room and the living room. Toriel was nowhere to be found. "Well, she mysteriously disappeared. I guess I need to go outside to see if I can get any information on how to get out of this place." Frisk thought. He was still unsure if he could trust Toriel. So, he made his way out.

Frisk finally got out of Toriel's house. "Judging from the light level here, it seems to be morning time." Frisk thought. He was surrounded by beautiful scenery. He could not believe his eyes. There was a garden around the whole house. This garden had very unique and beautiful flowers blooming. Frisk fell in love with the beautiful scenery around him. "Wow, I have never seen such a beautiful thing in my whole life. This is amazing." Frisk thought. Frisk then looked at Toriel's house. Her house seemed more like a mansion when he looked at it. "Wow, I didn't realize that her house was this big." Frisk thought.

As Frisk was staring at Toriel's house, he heard something in the garden. He went to check what it was. He was looking around in the direction of the sound. A few moments later, a nearby bush started rumbling. "Looks like something is in there. I hope it's not Flowey again." Frisk thought as he went towards the rumbling bush. And then, all of a sudden, a giant fly popped out of the bush. Frisk could not believe his eyes. The fly was half the size of Frisk. "What's with the size of this fly? It's half my size." Frisk thought. The fly stared at Frisk for a few moments.

"Hmm, a human I see." The fly started speaking. "What are you doing here?"

"Umm." Frisk was very shocked to see that the fly can talk. "I have been searching for a way to get out of here. Do you know a way that I could get out of here?"

"Oh, I see. Well, you better give up on that. Because there is no getting out of here once you are in here. At least not someone at your level." The fly explained.

"But.." Frisk did not believe what the fly had said to him. "There has to be at least one way to get out of here."

"Well, to be honest." The fly said. "You can't get out of here if you can't break the barrier that kept holding us monsters in here for such a long time."

"There is a way to break the barrier. I am sure of it." Frisk replied. "I can break that barrier that you are talking about."

"You are taking the barrier too lightly." The fly said. "A lot have tried to break it, but no one has ever succeeded in breaking it."

"You never know until you try." Frisk said with confidence. "I still believe that there is a way to break the barrier."

"What do you know about the barrier?" The fly said angrily. "We have been studying it for hundreds of years but no one has ever been able to successfully break it. You should give up on getting out of here."

"Oh well." Frisk sighed. "I'll have to study it too, I guess. I want to find a way to get out of here as soon as I can."

A few minutes later, a frog-monster wearing a leather jacket appeared. It did not look anything like the frog-like creature that Frisk saw earlier. It looked more humanoid. And it was standing on two legs, unlike the frog-like creature that Frisk saw earlier.

"Daz!" The frog called out. "I have an urgent report to make! It is very important!"

"What is it, Dolo?" With that, Daz was trembling with fear. "Tell me now!"

"It's Flowey." Dolo said. "He has come back again. And it looks like he had attacked someone."

Dolo then glanced at Frisk. And his eyes became wide. Dolo pointed his finger at Frisk.

"Isn't this a human?" Dolo asked.

"Yes, it is a human." Daz explained. "The guy that Flowey was fighting is probably him. Flowey might still be here! Let me know if you see him."

"I see." Dolo said, filled with anxiety. "This happens every time that a human falls down here. This human must be the new target then."

"Yeah, he probably is." Daz said. "Looks like Toriel helped this fellow as well. Just like she did with other humans who fell down here. She never changes."

"Umm." Frisk said, interrupting the conversation between the two monsters. "What do you mean I am the new target?"

"It means…" Daz started explaining. "That you are the next 'sacrifice'."

"What do you mean 'sacrifice?'" Frisk asked. "Explain everything to me!"

"Well," Daz continued on. "In simple terms, it means that you are going to be killed."

"What?!" Frisk screamed. "What do you mean I am going to get killed? What did I do to deserve that?"

"Calm down and let me explain." Daz stated. "For the past 10 years, the king and the royal guard have been collecting human souls. Most of them were like you, innocent and pure. All for the sake of breaking the barrier."

"Breaking the barrier you say?" Frisk was surprised. "I thought it was unbreakable."

"It is possible to break the barrier." Daz explained further. "It requires 7 special human souls to break the barrier. Any other way is not possible."

"So those are…" Frisk said.

"Sacrifices, yes." Daz interrupted Frisk. "Special human souls have hidden power within them. If the human is not able to harness this power, then they should be put in a half-dead state, and the power would be brought to the surface. However, doing that will most likely kill the human. 7 human souls with special hidden power will most likely destroy the barrier."

"I can't believe this." Frisk said. "What do they do to humans who do not possess the hidden power?"

"They kill those humans, obviously." Daz said with a disgusted expression on his face. "They kill those humans, saying that they were a threat."

"Oh no." Frisk said. "So I am going to die no matter what if they capture me huh? You have got to be kidding me! Why do I have to die?! For that stupid reason."

Daz seemed to be distracted by something. Frisk noticed it. A few moments later, Daz flew into the air. Frisk looked closely. Frisk thought that it was strange for Daz to suddenly act like that, but then Frisk saw seed bullets flying towards Daz, who dodged all of them.

"So he's here right now, huh?" Daz said.

"Looks like it." Dolo replied.

Frisk felt like he knew this attack from somewhere. "This seed attack. Don't tell me its…" Frisk's thought process was halted by the sight of Flowey near a nearby ruined wall.

"So you came back, huh." Frisk was filled with anger. "I won't lose this time!"

"No, human." Daz shouted. "Leave this to me and Dolo and go hide somewhere. You can't take Flowey on at your current level."

"He's right, human." Dolo agreed with Daz. "You would just die very quickly if you try to fight Flowey. Leave this to us."

Frisk was indecisive. He knew that if he tried to fight Flowey, he would just get in Daz and Dolo's way. He knew that they were telling the truth. "They're right. He managed to injure me last time. I was only saved because Toriel was there. I want to act brave and save these two as well, but I lack the power to do it." Frisk thought. Frisk did not want to hide or run. He wanted to fight. But he was too weak to do so.

Both Daz and Dolo jumped infront of Frisk in order to prevent Frisk from charging towards Flowey.

"We will take it from here." Daz yelled. "You go somewhere safe, human."

"But why are you protecting me? You don't even know who I am." Frisk asked.

"We can't answer that right now." Daz told Frisk. "I will explain when this is over. It looks like Flowey is not going to give us a chance to talk. Now, escape!"

"Okay, I understand." Frisk said, even though he did not want to run away from the fight. "Don't die."

Frisk ran as fast as he could to a safe place. "I need to see what kind of a fight this is. I am not going to miss such a chance." Frisk thought. Frisk finally found a safe place to hide and watch the fight at the same time.

Flowey launched an onslaught of seed bullets towards Daz and Dolo, who dodged all those bullets with ease. And then, Daz and Dolo started their counter attack. Daz sent small flies towards Flowey and when the flies got close enough to Flowey, they all exploded.

"Hah! That was too easy!" Daz laughed. "That was a piece of cake."

"I wouldn't be too sure about that." Flowey replied. "You need to do a little better than that if you want to kill me."

"I should probably move away from Toriel's house. I don't want it to get damaged." Dolo thought as he ran further away from Toriel's house. Daz and Frisk did the same. Flowey went after Dolo who was with Daz. Frisk was moving through the ruins undetected by Flowey.

"Where are you running to?" Flowey laughed. "I thought you were going to fight me. Yet here you are, running with your tail between your legs. What a coward."

When they got far enough from Toriel's house, Dolo stopped running. Daz did the same. "This should be far enough." Dolo thought as he was getting ready to attack.

"Phew! Now I can finally fight to my fullest." Dolo declared. "You're going down, Flowey!"

Dolo summoned and oily substance and shot it at Flowey. Dolo then took a match out of his pocket and lighted it and then threw it inside the oily substance which was very close to Flowey. The oily substance got ignited in no time and the whole place was covered in flames. Daz and Dolo were barely able to escape from the flame that scattered everywhere.

"Did it get him?" Dolo said.

"Don't get ahead of yourself!" Flowey said as he laughed loudly. "Did you really think that something of this level could get me?"

"Damn it! It didn't work." Dolo thought. However, he knew that he should not give up just yet. Both Daz and Dolo knew that they could not even hope to defeat Flowey.

There was a lot of smoke in addition to the blazing fire. Neither Daz, Dolo nor Frisk could see Flowey. The fly and the frog duo stayed alert in case Flowey decided to attack.

And then, all of a sudden, a barrage of seed bullets came flying towards Daz and Dolo. The seed bullets seemed to be bigger this time. "This is weird. How could he unleash an attack like that?" Daz thought.

"Hey Dolo." Daz called out. "Isn't it weird how he is able to use an attack of that level here?"

"Yeah it definitely is weird." Dolo responded. "It seems like the seal has been weakened. Why now, of all times?"

"I don't know yet." Daz said, filled with worry. "He is too much for us to handle. We better renew the seal as fast as possible. Otherwise, no one in the ruins can beat him. And he will take the human away."

"Renew the seal, huh?" Flowey said with full confidence. "I am not letting you renew the seal. I am going to take Frisk with me to the king."

Daz, Dolo and Frisk began to see a little more clearly. They saw that Flowey had huge green coloured petals covering his entire body. In a few moments, he threw the petals away. Flowey was completely unharmed. None of the things that Daz and Dolo did had any effect on him.

"You got too overconfident because you thought that you had the help of the seal." Flowey laughed. "But now, look at your surprised faces. You know that you both are going to die meaninglessly. Honestly, dying just to protect someone is stupid."

"You judge everything by your standards." Daz said. "We failed to protect all the other humans, but we will make sure you don't get your hands on this one. Someone like you would never understand."

"True, I don't understand at all." Flowey laughed. "And I don't even want to try. Why should I try to understand the words of people who are going to die?"

Flowey then created seed bullets that were around the same size as him, which were a lot bigger than his normal seed bullets. Flowey then aimed all of those seed bullets at Daz and Dolo. "Oh no. This is bad. Is there any way to escape?" Daz thought as the seed bullets exploded and turned into smaller versions of it and flew towards both him and Dolo. There were so many that dodging all the seed bullets seemed impossible.
