It had been almost two weeks since I had been to work or even stepped foot outside and on the day I was better enough to go out was the day there had been snow, I should have known then something was up because when Collins discovered there had been snow he suggested a walk in the park.
My mother, who was staying with me, happily agreed. I didn't protest because it would be nice to get out of the apartment so dressed in jeans, a black turtleneck and my black jacket we all went out for a walk. Although I much preferred, spring and summer, the city always looked so pretty covered in white.
I walked arm and arm with my mother, Collins with next to us. We talked about this and that, whatever came to our minds. I never noticed Collins stop, something going on in his mind, but when it hit me that he had stopped was when he put the cold snow down the back of my jacket, he couldn't get it down my shirt luckily. He could only laugh at me as I jumped in the air not prepared for the sudden coldness.
"Collins! Your a four year old! Why would you do that?" I asked him with a sudden chill taking over, thinking to myself Your going to pay.
He laughed "Oh come on Joanne have a little fun!" He yelled back at the uptight lawyer who looked at him plotting to get him back.
"I will but not when cold snow is shoved down my back!" She exclaimed not sure how to get him back. He just let out another laugh, probably picturing me jump at what he had done.
I rolled my eyes but found that I to wanted to have fun after being couped up, grabbing a snowball I noticed that his attention had become drawn to something. Perfect! He never saw it coming as I smothered the snowball in his face. The battle was on as we threw snowballs at each other, my mother just sat on the park bench and watched laughing at us.
I grew tired of the snow and ran "Oh no you don't!" He chased after me like we were children playing tag. The chase ended with both of us on the ground laughing. After silly chit-chat and snow angels he helped me up and we made our way back to where my mother was sitting
"You two have fun?"
She asked with a chuckle. I smiled and gave a small nod as Collins
hugged me from behind.
"Yeah, nice to get this uptight
lawyer to loosen up and have fun." I would have protested any
other day to his comment but just whined
"I'm cold now, lets
get something warm to drink."
"Life Cafe?"
"Sure!" The three of us headed off for drinks at the
Cafe.
