Note: Here's another Loonatics OC-centric chapter.
Chapter 56: Spineless
Spineless, that's what everyone called him as a child.
He was never one to get into fights when he was a child. In fact, he often avoided conflicts by simply talking down to bullies. However, everyone, even his closest friends, called him spineless because of that. While some considered him brave for standing up to bullies with his words and not his fists, many considered him weak for never getting into a fight. Throughout all these years, he managed to avoid conflicts and simply talk to those around him. That was until that fateful day.
While on his way to his job, the man who many considered spineless was caught in the middle of a shockwave. That shockwave came from the meteor that struck Acmetropolis. He suffered horrid injuries, to the point where he had to be rushed to the hospital. Once he was at the hospital, the doctor told him that he would be back with food. However, as soon as the doctor left, he could feel something sticking in his body. Looking in the mirror, he saw something frightening: his body was covered in spikes made of his own bone marrow!
A year after the meteor strike, he managed to keep his new abilities hidden. That was until he was discovered by Acmetropolis' loyal protectors: the Loonatics. After getting to know them, he was drafted into an offshoot of the team known as "The Mighty Loonatics". Once he joined, he began to train. Despite that, he wished that he would just talk the villains out of their crimes. Even if they wouldn't listen, he figured that he wouldn't have to use his bone marrow manipulation in a battle.
The person that many considered spineless is actually a dog. He was never spineless to some, and, after joining the Loonatics, he would never be spineless. Due to everyday being a fight for survival against supervillains, he had a chance to show that he had a spine. Even if he was ashamed of his bone marrow manipulation, he could still use it on certain occasions. After all, he could turn the marrow into spikes and have it form armor around him. In addition to that, he was training in fighting, which proved to be helpful.
His name is Simon Grey, and he is not, nor will he ever be, spineless.
Note: I've got a good feeling about Simon, how about you? I did name him after Bill Grey. As for his powers, they're based on a little known member of the X-Men named Marrow. I hope that everyone is doing okay, given how the COVID-19 vaccine has been released. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism stating what you like and what you don't like. Until next time guys, peace!
