Chapter 7

Frisk was in a hurry. "Please make it on time." Frisk thought as he charged towards Flowey at full speed. Once Frisk got in range where he could throw the ruined piece of wall at Flowey, he threw it towards Flowey with all his might. Before the ruined piece of wall could hit Flowey, a green coloured vine crashed its way out of the ground, smashing it to pieces. However, thanks to that, Flowey's aim was thrown off and the three huge seed bullets missed Daz and Dolo.

Flowey then looked at the direction where the ruined piece of wall came from. He then saw Frisk standing there. Flowey smiled at Frisk in an evil way.

"Well, well, well." Flowey said. "If it isn't Frisk. You have saved me the trouble of looking for you."

"Flowey!" Frisk yelled. "How dare you try to kill both of them! What right do you have to take their lives?"

"Hah…" Flowey laughed. "I am only tormenting them because they tried to protect you. I wouldn't have done anything to them if they didn't try to protect you."

"Even then, you should not have tried to kill them!" Frisk replied in an angry tone. "What do you take life for?"

"Oh gosh, you're so naïve." Flowey said as he laughed. "In time, you will learn that heroic actions can only get you killed faster. It's kill or be killed in this world. If you can't kill someone, then you will be the one getting killed."

"I really don't agree with you after all!" Frisk screamed. "I am going to get rid of you right here and now!"

Frisk then took medium sized rocks and threw them at Flowey, who easily broke them to pieces with his vines. Flowey then summoned medium-sized seed bullets and prepared to fire them at Frisk.

"Don't get carried away, human." Flowey said. "You're 100 years early to be able challenge me."

Flowey then launched the seed bullets directly at Frisk. Frisk managed to dodge all of them before any of them could hit him. Frisk gave Flowey an arrogant smile. Flowey then slowly smiled at Frisk.

"It's not over yet, stubborn human." Flowey yelled. "I am gonna to end you right here and now!"

Flowey then summoned three huge seed bullets, just like he did before.

"You're not getting away. Don't get so overconfident." Flowey declared confidently. "YOUR SOUL IS MINE!"

A cold shiver was sent through Frisk's spine. He knew that Flowey was not playing around anymore. It was like Frisk could sense the killing intent coming from Flowey. Frisk was frightened, as there was not anything that he could do to fight back against Flowey.

"D-dont… Don't fight… him." A gravely injured Dolo spoke out. He could barely speak. Frisk looked at him. "You… Can't…. Win"

Frisk knew that Dolo was speaking the truth. What could he, someone who could not make anything out with his soul energy defeat a formidable foe like Flowey?

But he had to try. Because it was too late. Because they would all probably get killed.

"Why are you doing this, Flowey? What have I ever done to you?" Frisk inquired.

"It's simple." Flowey answered with a smug expression on his face. "I just want your soul. That's all."

"Why do you want my soul?" Frisk was filled with questions.

"You don't need to know that. Since you're gonna die anyway. What benefit could there be in revealing a secret to someone who's about to die?" Flowey still had the smug expression on his face. "Look here, Frisk, I have killed COUNTLESS humans in the past. So… I am not new to this. They all asked the same thing and I would give them the same answer. There was nothing, literally NOTHING that they could do with knowing the secret, seconds prior to their deaths."

Frisk did NOT believe that Flowey even met humans before. It sounded more like Flowey was exaggerating his words.

"You… You honestly are sadistic, you know that? And you… You just killed all of those humans without hesitation?" Frisk was visibly disgusted at how Flowey could do these things.

Flowey burst out laughing when Frisk had said that.

"Yeah I am pretty 'sadistic' when it comes to humans. I feel the same way about monsters who get in my way." Flowey said as he concentrated on keeping the three huge seed bullets in check. "Humans are nothing more than sources of energy to me. I don't know what you think about us monsters, nor do I even care. Now, PREPARE TO DIE!"

Flowey launched the huge seed bullets that he kept in the air the whole time they had been conversing. Frisk was frozen, unable to move. He knew that he could not move fast enough to dodge Flowey's huge seed bullets.

Frisk was facing the fear of death. It was much more overwhelming than he had ever imagined. He was literally frozen. With the memories of his life flashing right through his face. "Ah, so this is what overwhelming fear feels like." Frisk thought. As the seed bullets came closer towards Frisk, he slowly closed his eyes, simply accepting his death as there was no way for him to escape anyway "Lara, I will be joining you soon!" Frisk thought, remembering the memories that he shared with his dead sister Lara.

Flowey grinned as the seed bullets closed in on Frisk. Flowey was visibly excited and eager to see Frisk die.

It was taking a bit too long for the seed bullets to hit Frisk. So, he opened his eyes, and he was a very mad Flowey. Flowey was fuming. Frisk's eyes then quickly scanned for the seed bullets that Flowey sent towards him. He saw the three huge seed bullets break apart as if they were turning into dust-like particles.

"Damn it! I wasted too much time!" Flowey screamed as he launched his vines at Frisk, who managed to dodge them easily.

"Not so tough now, huh?" Frisk said mockingly while being relieved that his life was spared. "Must suck for you, huh? Not being able to kill me. Not to mention that your power has dropped really low. So, your vines are not fast enough to hit a snail."

Flowey knew that the seal was active again. Even after all his effort to destroy it. Flowey had expected that it would never gain its power back. He could barely use any magic. He did not even have the power to make a single seed bullet.

Frisk finally saw the opportunity to fight back and grabbed a small piece of wall that was lying around at a close distance. As he was about to throw it at Flowey, he was caught by Flowey's surprise attack, which came from below. He did not have any time to react. Frisk did not expect Flowey to use his small amount of magic to sneak attack him. Frisk thought that Flowey's magic was completely gone.

"Frisk, duck!" A familiar voice yelled. Frisk got startled and instinctively got down.

The next second, Frisk spotted a fireball that came from behind him that had directly hit the approaching vine and burnt it to a crisp. Flowey's expression worsened. It contained pure hate.

Frisk turned around and looked behind him and saw Toriel standing there at a close distance. Toriel looked very mad.

"It looks like you took care of my friends very well." Toriel said sarcastically as she pointed to Daz and Dolo. "I will be making you pay today. You are the one person who I will never forgive."

Flowey knew that he had no chance against Toriel since he was sapped of power. So, Flowey decided to flee the scene. Two other monsters appeared as Toriel started chasing Flowey.

"Tend to them. Get them to Doctor Rod as soon as possible." Toriel ordered referring to the two monsters who had tagged along with her as she ran after Flowey. Both of the monsters wore black hoods with a cross pattern so, Frisk was not able to tell what kind of monsters they were.

Frisk ran after Toriel. "I must get him for sure this time. This is a rare chance. I can't let this chance slip through my fingers." Toriel thought as she chased Flowey at full speed.

Flowey was a bit slow in running away because he had no legs. And he could not use his technique where he goes into the ground because he did not have enough soul energy to do that.

Toriel created a small fireball in the palm of her hand and shot it at Flowey when he was in the range of her attack. Flowey tried his best to dodge the fireball, and was barely able to dodge the fireball. Flowey was feeling tired as he gradually kept losing his soul energy.

"The next one won't miss." Toriel warned Flowey.

Flowey felt a shiver down his whole body. "Am I just going to die here? Like I am nothing?" Flowey thought.

Toriel quickly caught up to him as he reached a maze-like area with destroyed pieces of walls. The walls seemed to belong to ruined houses.

Flowey was too tired from running away from Toriel. So, he decided to face Toriel. He knew that he should not fight Toriel. So, he thought of possible openings that could potentially allow him to escape.

"Finally gave up on trying to run away, huh?" Toriel asked, filled with confidence in her abilities. "This time, I will make sure you die!"

Frisk was a bit behind the two of them, but caught up just in time.

Toriel formed another scorching fireball in the palm of her right hand. But, this one was a lot bigger than the ones that she had created previously. Frisk could feel the heat even from the distance he was at.

Flowey was trembling with fear. Flowey knew that even an indirect hit from that could lead to him getting burned to a crisp. His best bet was to successfully dodge the dangerous fireball.

"Any last words, Flowey?" Toriel inquired with a satisfied smile on her face.

"I will get you next time, caretaker!" Flowey yelled. "Mark my words. You will regret standing up against me!"

"Bluffing even when you're near death's gate. How pathetic!" Toriel mocked Flowey as she shot the dangerous scorching fireball at Flowey. When the fireball hit, it exploded into the hot scorching fire that not only covered a wide area in flames, but destroyed some walls as well.

Toriel was sure that she had finally killed Flowey and was very satisfied with that. Toriel then turned around.

"Let's go home, Frisk." Toriel said as she held Frisk's hand.

Frisk followed Toriel towards her house again. Frisk was filled with surprise. He had thought that Toriel was a very kind monster who would not even harm a single soul. Especially her own kind.

Frisk doubted Toriel now. He did not know if he should trust Toriel or not. "Hopefully, she is not a monster that was capable of deceit." Frisk thought as he gulped.

"By the way." Frisk started. "Why are you not putting the fires out? Won't it spread all over here?"

"Don't worry, Frisk." Toriel reassured him. "Magic flames don't spread uncontrollably. Only real flames do."

Frisk looked visibly confused. Toriel took notice of this quickly and continued.

"Flame magic does not spread on it's own. Even though it does burn actual matter. But unlike regular flames, they need fire-natured 'Soulites' in order to spread. " Toriel explained.

"Soulites?" Frisk inquired, clearly not knowing what the word meant.

"Well," Toriel cleared her throat. "Soulites are magic particles that exist in the air that we can manipulate. We can release Soul Energy to manipulate the Soulites like we want to. And when we release enough Soul Energy, the Soulites can take the shape of our magic. Like fireball in my case, and seed bullet in Flowey's case. Our Soul Energy changes the Soulites from the very core to match the material which it had been transformed into. Like if I release enough of my Soul Energy, the nature of the nearby Soulites transform into fire-natured Soulites. In Flowey's case, it transforms into solid natured Soulites."

"Oh I see. I actually never knew that." Frisk nodded while thinking. "So, that's how you were able to summon objects out of 'thin air'?"

"Yes, exactly." Toriel answered. "It becomes visible when the manipulated Soulites are joined together and form a shape. This process usually takes less than a second to do so, which is why you see stuff appearing out of 'thin air.'"

"Oh I see." Frisk muttered. "Explains why there were so many of my peers back at school who can create objects out of thin air. The only difference that I am seeing from monsters is that they are able to form objects that are not touching their hands."

"Yes, that's correct." Toriel explained. "Humans can't create objects that are not touching their hands. But, monsters are able to create objects anywhere within a small area. I think this is due to the magical differences between humans and monsters."

"Yeah, I haven't seen a single human create an object that isn't touching their hands. I always believed this to be the limitation of human magic. But I, for some reason, did not have magic at all. Not even a small amount. Even though magic manifests in humans when they reach the age of 12. And yet… I can't...I can't use any magic. Even to this day." Frisk declared sadly.

Frisk remembered his earlier days. Back then, he would get bullied for not having any magic and he would get called weak and looked down upon. It was mostly Jack and Rachel who helped him through his rough time at school. It was a bittersweet memory for Frisk.

There was an awkward silence for a moment. Before Frisk could say anything to break the awkward silence, they reached Toriel's house. Frisk decided to keep his unspoken words in his mouth. He could not get his past days with Jack and Rachel out of his mind. He missed both of them greatly.

There was nothing he could do, with his lack of information. He wanted to ask Toriel how to get out of the monster realm, but he was too afraid to ask. Seeing as how she hid all the information from him the last time he had asked her that. "I really need to get out of here. There's absolutely no time to waste here." Frisk thought.
