Chapter 66: The Student and the Widow
A pink cat was walking through the graveyard, a backpack hanging off her shoulder. She was standing near one of the graves, placing a bouquet of flowers next to the tombstone.
"Those are for you, grandma." The feline calmly said, addressing the grave. She then sat down on the bench, laying her backpack on her lap. Opening it, the young woman pulled out a text book and a pencil. Little did she know, there was someone sitting next to her.
"Homework?" A man asked.
Looking up, the pink cat saw another feline. This tomcat had teal and white fur, and was wearing a black jacket, white shirt, dress pants, and boots. He looked older than her, being roughly in his thirties. As for the young woman, she was a college junior, being twenty-two years old. After a minute of silence, she cleared her throat.
"You okay?" The tomcat asked.
"I'm just clearing my throat." The young woman said. "As for the book, I have homework, but it's not due until Friday."
"Good to know." The older male said.
"What's your name, hon?" She asked.
"Avocato," he answered, "and you?"
"Katt Monroe." The younger female introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you." Avocato said as he shook her hand.
"So, what's a handsome tom like you doing in the cemetery?" Katt asked.
"I bring my boy here so that we can visit my wife." He sadly stated.
"Where's your boy at?" The younger female asked.
"Over there." The older male pointed over to a younger tom. The younger male was roughly fourteen years old, and he had orange fur. The boy was wearing a t-shirt, jean pants, and boots.
"I'm doing fine, mom, I hope that you can see me." He sighed, looking down at the grave in front of him.
"It's been three years since my wife died, and Little Cato's doing better than any kid in mourning would." Avocato said. "I still miss her, because she made me feel happy on a bad day. We met when I got done serving in the army. A year later, and we got married, with Little Cato being born six months later."
"Have you considered getting back out there?" Katt asked.
"No." The older male said.
"Well, I have." The younger female said. "My love life isn't that great. I have tried to get with a guy named Falco Lombardi, but he told me that he didn't want to start a relationship with anyone."
"Sorry to hear about that." The tom said.
Little Cato came up to the two, standing near the bench. He got a quizzical look on his face the moment he saw Katt.
"Ready to go, son?" Avocato asked.
"Dad, who's that?" Little Cato asked, gesturing towards Katt.
"I'm Katt Monroe, sweetie." Katt shook the boy's hand.
"Nice to meet you." He said.
"We we're just talking, and Katt's been a delight." Avocato said.
"Want to keep talking?" She asked.
"Actually, we should get going, it's getting late." The tom said as he got up from the bench.
"Maybe you guys could talk some other time." Little Cato suggested.
"How about on Saturday?" Katt asked.
"Saturday?" Avocato was puzzled, but composed himself. "Sure, I've got nothing going on."
"Great, I'll see you then!" The pink cat said as she walked off.
"See you later!" Little Cato said.
"Son, what are you doing?" Avocato asked.
"I think I just set you up on a date." The boy said.
"I can't go on a date with her, she's a college student and I'm in my mid-thirties." The older male said.
"Dad, she's above the legal age of consent, so no one will judge."
"I don't intend on getting her in bed with me."
"Other than that, it's great to make new friends. Besides, Katt seems like a nice lady."
"I guess that I can take her out. Looks like I have to get ready on Saturday."
When Saturday came, Avocato got dressed in formal clothing. Before that, he had taken a shower and put cologne on. After getting dressed, the feline gathered his wallet and his phone, putting them in his pockets. As he was getting ready to leave, he was greeted by Little Cato.
"Dad, do I have to be watched by a babysitter?" He asked.
"Yes, it's to keep you safe." Avocato answered.
"But I'm fourteen." The younger feline protested.
"I know, but I don't want to come home and find you dead." The older feline said before he left. "Get to bed on time and do what you need to do before then."
After closing the door, Avocato walked away from his house. Upon doing so, he could see the babysitter enter the house. The feline continued to walk down the street, heading towards Katt's apartment. She had told him the address, so he couldn't miss it. The moment he got to the door, he knocked on it.
"Coming!" A feminine voice said in a singsong tone.
The door opened and Katt stepped out. The pink cat was wearing a pretty black dress and high heel shoes.
"Ready to go, Katt?" Avocato greeted.
"You bet, I am." Katt smiled as she left with him.
Katt and Avocato's date was at a restaurant, where they ate enough to fill their bellies. After dinner, the two got down to talking.
"So, how is college going?" Avocato asked.
"It's going pretty smoothly." Katt answered. "Pretty much the only class I'm having trouble in is Chemistry."
"Sorry to hear about that." The older male said.
"It's okay." The younger female said. "Besides, I've got other classes to do."
"I'll take your word for it."
All of a sudden, the band started to play a slow song.
"Do you want to dance?" Avocato asked.
"Let's do it." Katt said as she walked to the dance floor with him. The two danced to the music, joining everyone else as they did so. As they danced, the two felines felt closer. Without warning, Katt shared a kiss with Avocato. They were in a passionate embrace for thirty seconds before breaking apart.
"What was that for?" Avocato asked.
"I like you." Katt said.
"So do I." The older male said.
As they went home, Katt and Avocato spoke to each other.
"What shall we do for our next date?" Katt asked.
"We can do whatever you want." Avocato answered.
"Can we go stargazing?" The pink cat asked.
"Sure, see you later." The teal and white cat said as he walked off.
"See you later!" The younger female said as she walked away.
Katt and Avocato continued to go on dates, occasionally being joined by other couples as they did so. The two felines went on one-hundred-and-fifty dates, with almost all of them going perfectly. However, their recent date would be different. In fact, Katt found herself being escorted to the lake.
"What are we doing here, Avocato?" Katt asked.
"I've got something to ask." Avocato stated.
"What is it?" The pink cat asked.
To her surprise, Avocato took her hand and got down on one knee.
"Katt," he spoke, "will you marry me?"
"Yes!" Katt squeaked, a few tears running down her face. She kissed her boyfriend on the cheek, hugging him as well. The pink cat slipped the wedding ring onto her finger.
A few months later, Katt and Avocato got married. They were surrounded by their friends and family, who all supported their relationship. After the wedding, the couple was escorted away from the church in a limo. The two then had their honeymoon in England, where they had agreed to go. While they were there, Avocato got passionate with Katt. As such, the couple spent a few days indoors in order to share such passion.
Eight months later, Katt had given birth to twins. The twins were a boy with pink fur and a girl with black fur, each taking characteristics from their parents. Avocato and Katt named their newborns Kyle and Kate, those being the names they decided on. When they got home, Little Cato was excited, knowing that he had younger siblings to watch over. Upon placing Kyle and Kate in their crib, Katt and Avocato smiled at them.
"They're so cute!" Katt gushed.
"Just like you, honey." Avocato said to her.
"Oh, you!" The pink cat said before kissing her husband.
Throughout the years, Katt would graduate from college and become a doctor. As for Avocato, he would be a stay-at-home dad. His Army training would allow him to protect his family from anything, from intruders from natural disasters. Nonetheless, Katt and Avocato were happily married, and they would stay together until death.
Note: Alright, up next is EmpressLoveSiren23's second request for me. I should probably take it easy when it comes to taking requests, but I am eager to do them if they aren't really complex. I hope that everyone is doing okay, given all that has happened as of late. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism stating what you like and what you don't like. Until next time guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
