Chapter 71: Pharaoh Fox and the Belly Dancer
A long time ago, a Pharaoh ruled over his citizens in the Kingdom of Corneria. He was a proud, noble, orange fox who inherited the throne from his parents after their unfortunate deaths at the hands of his father's enemy. Those who conspired to work with said enemy were executed along with him. Despite that, the Pharaoh was told to carry on, as it was now his responsibility. He ruled over the land with an iron fist, but he felt that something was missing. That something would arrive on a day where nothing much was going on in the palace.
On that day, a hare walked up to the Pharaoh.
"My Pharaoh." He bowed towards him.
"Peppy," the Pharaoh spoke, "what do you have to say?"
"There is someone who wants to meet you, Fox." Peppy said. "Don't be alarmed, she's not here to cause harm."
"Send her in." The vulpine said.
"Come on," Peppy called out, "it's okay! You've been given permission to enter!"
A young woman walked up to Fox, taking a bow as she approached him. She was a cobalt blue vixen that looked around the Pharaoh's age. In addition to that, she was wearing little clothing. It immediately dawned onto Fox that this girl was a belly dancer.
"Good afternoon, Pharaoh." The vixen greeted.
"I take it that you're a belly dancer?" Fox asked.
"Yes," she answered, "my name is Krystal. Your servant told me that you were bored, so he had me come here."
"Well, show me what you got." The Pharaoh said, snapping his fingers shortly after.
All of a sudden, the band began to play. Upon hearing the music, Krystal began to dance in front of Fox. The Pharaoh was spellbound as the cobalt vixen did her danced. He wasn't expecting a belly dancer to show up in the palace, but Peppy had brought one.
She's beautiful, Fox thought to himself, and she's a good dancer. I wonder, would she be willing to stay for long?
After a few minutes, Krystal danced closer to Fox, smiling at the Pharaoh.
"You're really good at what you do." Fox said.
"Thanks, I've had years of practice." Krystal said.
"How have they been on you?" The Pharaoh asked.
"Not that great," the belly dancer said, "I've been surrounded by men with perverted thoughts. It's not easy to ignore any of them, to put it bluntly."
"Oh, sorry to hear about that." The orange vulpine said.
"It's okay." The cobalt vixen said. "I'm used to men like them."
Krystal continued her dance as Fox watched on. The Pharaoh felt pity for the belly dancer, knowing what she had to put up with in her line of work. He knew that, if he didn't act now, something horrible would happen to her. If she didn't get killed on the streets, one of the perverted men she talked about would either rape her or torture her. No, he couldn't let that happen.
I hope that she's okay with staying here. Fox thought to himself.
After a few minutes, Krystal stopped dancing. In response, the band stopped playing their music.
"That was fun," Krystal spoke, "I better head home."
"Wait." Fox said.
"What is it?" The cobalt vixen asked.
"Would you like to stay at the palace for a while?" The orange tod asked.
"I'd like to, but I couldn't." The belly dancer said. "My father would be mad with me."
"I'll have one of my servants send a note to your family." The Pharaoh said. "They'll tell your family that you're staying here for a while."
"Thanks for doing that. I guess I could stay in the palace."
"You're welcome."
"Would you like to have me dance for you again?"
"You don't have to if you don't want to."
"No, I insist."
"Alright, but only because I like your dancing."
Krystal began to dance again, smiling at Fox as she did so.
