Note: A request from Yamagata that just so happens to be another parody of a famous fairy tale. Enjoy!
Chapter 72: The Boy Who Cried Star Wolf
Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Billy. He worked as a sheep herder in his village, with his boss often checking up on him. However, Billy grew bored with his job, largely due to the meandering amount of work he received on a daily basis. The only amount of excitement he got was from when the sheep were acting up. Other than that, there was nothing fun for him to do. It would seem that he would have to do something in order to have fun.
One day, when Billy wasn't looking, one of the sheep got out of the fence. Upon seeing that, Billy's eyes widened. His boss would be furious when he found out that one of the sheep was missing, so he had to find a way out.
"Wolf!" Billy cried.
The boss came up to Billy, looking somewhat annoyed.
"What are you screaming about?" He asked.
"There was a wolf here and it stole one of the sheep!" Billy lied.
"I see," the boss said, "we should build a better fence around the sheep. If you see the wolf again, let me know."
"Okay, I promise." The boy said.
After the boss walked away, Billy let out a sigh of relief.
"I might have lied," he said to himself, "but I managed to keep my job. Let's just hope that the new fence keeps the sheep from running away."
The next day, a new fence was built around the sheep. Now that it was built, Billy watched over the sheep with caution, hoping to prevent a repeat of yesterday. However, when he turned around, two sheep ran out of the fence. Once those two were gone, Billy realized that he had to tell his boss the truth. The moment that he saw the boss walk out of the barn, the boy got ready to tell him what happened.
"Billy, what's wrong?" The boss asked.
"I've got something to tell you." Billy said.
"What is it?" The order male asked.
"The wolf from yesterday came back and it stole two more sheep." The boy lied.
"Billy, are you lying?"
"No, why?"
"Because I find it odd how you don't try to fight the wolf off before it steals the sheep. If you're telling the truth, that's good. However, if you're lying, you're going to wish there was a wolf."
After saying that, the boss walked off. Billy let out a sigh again, this one full of dread.
"Well, it's taps for me if the boss finds out I'm lying." He said to himself. "Okay, Billy, don't worry, just keep a better eye on the sheep."
The next day, Billy kept a better eye on the sheep. The moment one tried to escape, he immediately chased after it. When he caught up with it, however, he heard someone speaking to him.
"So, you blamed the disappearance of your sheep on a wolf, eh?"
Looking up, Billy saw a man standing near him. However, this man didn't look like anyone he had seen before. In fact, he didn't look human. The man was a gray wolf with an eye patch. He was also wearing clothing that made him blend in with the villagers. Despite that, Billy knew that this man was trouble.
"Who are you?" Billy asked.
"Wolf O'Donnell, kid." The wolf said. "If you want your sheep back, you're too late. I ate them in order to satisfy my appetite."
"Wolf!" The boy shouted, hoping that someone would hear him.
"Do you honestly think that anyone would believe you after you've lied about it?" The one-eyed lupine asked.
"No, I'm going to tell the truth!" The younger male pleaded. "I promise, I'll tell the truth!"
"So, you'll tell your boss what really happened?" The older male asked.
"Yes, please don't hurt me!"
"Not a chance, you need a punishment, you little liar!"
"What's my punishment?"
When Billy came back with the runaway sheep, his boss saw that he had gotten beaten up. The boy then told him the truth. Seeing as the boy suffered enough, the boss decided not to fire him and told him to do a better job next time. However, the villagers caught Wolf and put him in the dungeon until further notice. Nonetheless, Billy never told another lie ever again, and everyone lived happily ever. The end.
Note: I had fun writing this chapter, given how it's another fairy tale parody. I wanted to make the ending darker, but I decided not to do that. I hope that you like this, Yamagata. As for the rest of you, tell me what you think when you leave a review. Until next time guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
