Obito's funeral took place shortly after. The sky's gloomy, like it was also grieving for his death. Attendants are not as little as Team Minato thought, though. There was actually a lot of people who loved him for all the good he had done, yet he never knew that. Surprisingly, the whole Uchiha clan came as well, even Fugaku and Mikoto with Itachi in her arms. Each and every member of the clan wanted to pay respect to the fallen hero, despite whatever his father had been, he was a good kid. Isamu was grateful, to say at least.
"Fugaku-sama… send my regards to the whole clan for attending our small funeral." -He said, while stretching his right arm out, forming a handshake. Fugaku surprisingly pulled him in for a hug, Mikoto joining shortly after.
"Isamu. I have never actually been there for either of you during your childhoods. And that, I will forever regret. But I'll make it up from now. Also, it isn't Fugaku-sama, just Uncle from now." -The Uchiha clan leader whispered while holding Isamu tightly. Mikoto nodded, agreeing with her husband.
"Yeah, I'm sorry too, Isamu. I've been a bad aunt to both of you guys. Give us a chance, and we'll make this right." -She continued, tears started falling from her onyx eyes as well as Isamu's.
"Thank you… uncle Fugaku, aunt Mikoto…" -He said, reciprocating their group hug, now with baby Itachi joining. For once in his life, he felt at ease. Free from all the guilt on his shoulders. Free from grieving.
"He became the light that illuminates my future path…" -Isamu continued after parting, still facing the couple. Pushing chakra to his eyes, those Eternal patterns arise yet again, surprising both Fugaku and Mikoto.
"Now, I promise to him above, that I'll take on his legacy." -He finished, the famous Uchiha scowl on his face, eyes flaming with determination.
"Oh Kami… Fugaku, is that..?" -Mikoto questioned her husband, and he nodded.
"Yes… Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan... Isamu, make good use of them. They're really rare, you know. I'm sure Obito would want that too." -Fugaku replied.
"I know, uncle… That's why…" -Both of them and Team Minato looked at him confusedly, unknowing what he will say next.
"I'll join the ANBU."
Obito opened his eyes, still have that stinging pain from eye transferring, which took place only minutes ago in his mind. But in reality, it had been days ever since that moment. To his surprise, his right side is all patched up, looking decent enough to keep him alive. Both eyes and left side is still intact as well, along with his legs, which doesn't have any leftover scars. Sitting up properly, the young Uchiha observes the surrounding area, great confusion filled his mind.
"Ah. I see that you're awake." -A dry voice emitted from his right side. Turning around, what came to his vision is just some guy with white long hair and wrinkled skin.
"H-hey… Where am I..?" -He squeaked, sounding drier than Sunagakure's desert. Maybe it's because he hadn't drank any type of liquid in days.
"In between this life and the next one, young Uchiha." -That old man replied. Switching his glance to the guy's right side, he saw a scythe, shining gloriously with all intentions of killing. It reminded him of his own Mangekyou, and all the bad memories that took place after unlocking it. Yet, he panics because he thought that old man would finish him there and then.
"I JUST SAW SOMETHING! IS THAT A SCYTHE? PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!" -He yelled, mind filled with fear.
"MY WHOLE LIFE WAS SPENT TO HELP THE ELDERLY! SURE, I BROKE SOME RULES BUT THEY WEREN'T THAT BAD! PLE-OWW!" -Obito continued, but got interrupted by the surging pain approaching.
"I won't kill you. In the contrary, I need your help." -He said, while giving a slight smirk.
"What do you need me to do, gramps? Help you with bathroom stuff?" -Obito questioned, feeling a bit creeped out by that man's behavior. He was suddenly warped onto an empty yard, nothing unordinary except for the blood red sky.
"I need you… to break." -The old man replied, now with his full appearance, that porcupine hairstyle and red armor, Obito knew it all too well.
"U-Uchiha Madara!? B-but… you're my ancestor, right? We were supposed to be family!" -He yelled, confusion mixed with fear in every word.
"And that gives more reason for you to help me, no?" -Madara coldly said, his blood red dojutsu drilling holes onto Obito's fragile soul. One second later, he found himself strapped to a wooden cross, unable to move a single limb.
"Oh, I'm gonna love this." -He continued, a devious smirk on his face. Forming a spiky whip out of nowhere, Madara started hitting the poor boy's figure, despite any type of begging, yelling or screams. Little Obito took every hit, unable to counter or using his Sharingan, strangely. Although he knows what Tsukuyomi can do to the victim, he can't shake off that searing pain coming from every hit. Each second out there equals a full day in this illusion world, and Obito doesn't have any goddamn clue for the amount of time he'd spend here. All he'd know is : This will hurt. A lot.
(Konoha's Training Ground Seven, same day…)
Isamu took a break from ANBU missions today, and decided to hang out with his late brother's team. It was a bit empty without him, but they had gotten used to that feeling, except for Obito's precious people. Minato and his two students had tried their best to even make a crack on Susano'o - even at its most basic form, the ribcage – yet neither of them made an impact decent enough. Suddenly, Isamu felt an urge to punch someone into oblivion. He dematerialize that turquoise bone structure, right before Kakashi could land a hit.
"Stop. You all feel that?" -He questioned the three-man squad infront of him, and they all nodded.
"Yeah. I do. Feels like someone closed to us is being hurt." -Minato replied, filled with anger.
"Seems close enough to when Obito was being abused…" -Kakashi said, looking depressed yet again. When returned from that mission with a new left eye, he got the news saying his best friend is dead. Both him and Isamu fell onto a depressive state for days until when a certain bluenette fished them back up. Temporarily for Isamu, though.
"No one gets to hurt my boy..." -Isamu and Rin said altogether, which makes the brunette turns away, blushing madly. The older Uchiha just stood there with a sweat drop running down his head, unaffected from Rin's little display. This action, of course, doesn't cool down that burst of rage inside him, which he can release any time now. He decided to flush out his anger within Kamui's dimension – an ability which originates from Obito's Mangekyou. Visible to all of them, Isamu got sucked into a swirly black vortex, leaving no other trace, chakra nor physical.
"That's new…" -Minato spoke up, shock and amazement expressed clearly on his face. Kakashi and Rin can only agree.
(A year later…)
Isamu returned from his mission to Amegakure, feeling nothing more than drained. Taking down Hanzo of the Salamander wasn't an easy task, yet he walks away victorious, gaining a new ally for Konoha – the Akatsuki and ultimately, Amegakure. The mask protected him from Hanzo's venom, not his physical/summoning attacks, which left him with multiple injuries. But he never paid any mind to them, well… he hadn't been for a whole year. They'd heal the next day, leaving him a perfectly healed body, yet the broken soul remains untouched. Akari and Team Minato tried their best to cheer him up, but he'd give them a fake smile, telling that he's fine. However, those onyx eyes which lost their signature light said otherwise. That vibrant glow left long ago, and all that remains is a bottomless void, showing emotions rarely.
"Sandaime-sama. Mission accomplished." -He said with a flat tone, conveying zero feelings whatsoever. The old Hokage only gave a curt nod, affirming that he heard what Isamu said.
"Good. Because I need you on another." -Hiruzen replied, before throwing him a small scroll.
"An hour ago, Rin was kidnapped by Kirigakure. Kakashi went to rescue her by himself, yet I doubt he can make it. So I need you to be his backup. I'd send Minato, but he's on another mission at Kumo. Plus, you and Nohara are like family." -He continued, Isamu listening to every detail he can. It's true that ever since Obito passed away a year ago, Rin became closer to the older sibling. He considered her as his sister, to be honest, she could be if his little brother had confess sooner. Anyways, she lives with him for months now, staying in Obito's old room despite his offer of giving her the guest room, because it makes her feel safe. Hearing that she got abducted made him feel worried, but he doesn't express it out.
"I'll take it, Hokage-sama." -Isamu shortly answered as he puts on his ANBU mask yet again, blood stained all over that crow-shaped piece of porcelain disguise. Right after that, the 18 year old shinobi warped from his position with a familiar black swirl. Hiruzen can only sigh before inhaling again from his pipe.
'Be safe, Kakashi, Isamu…'
Exiting Kamui's dimension, the first thing that came to his sight was a bloody battlefield, About seven or eight Kiri ANBU was down for the count, by Hatake Kakashi's hands. Speaking of him, Isamu noticed his sluggish movement, getting slower as time flew by. Rin wasn't in a much better state, trying her best to defend herself from upcoming forces.
"Kakashi! Report!" -Isamu yelled as he approached the silver haired nin. As an ANBU from Konoha, he can directly order him like this, and oh boy, he'd use it whenever he can.
"Retrieval success. But there's a slight wrinkle…" -Kakashi replied, looking a bit nervous. The older Uchiha just muttered out a quiet "huh?" in confusion.
"Isamu-nii-san! Kakashi! You gotta kill me! They sealed a tailed beast..!" -Rin yelled, being interrupted only by Kiri nins. Both Konoha shinobi took no time to rush towards her place, slicing the surrounding enemies head off. Isamu's chokuto was crackling with Raiton chakra, forming another jutsu derived from Kakashi's famous Chidori, which he copied only a few months ago. Gripping its hilt tightly in his right arm, the Uchiha charges onto waves of enemy, mowing through them like they're nothing but paper sheets.
"Don't give up just yet, Rin! We'll get you outta here!" -Kakashi screamed, flying through hand seals yet again, letting one thousand bird's idyllic rips apart the black, raining sky. Seeing mentioned electric blade, a bulb went off on Rin's mind…
She'll commit suicide.
It's selfish of her, she knows. But if she sacrificed herself on this bloody Kirigakure battlefield, Konoha would evade a bijuu attack, and the bijuu itself would die alongside her. Yet, she's doing this for another purpose... To meet him again. To gaze onto those black orbs filled with affection, hearing his goofy yet cheerful laughs, touching his raven spiky hair, kissing him with all of her heart's content. She can't stand another day without him, without Uchiha Obito.
'I'm sorry, Isamu-nii-san… Kakashi… Please forgive me… I'm coming, Obito-kun!' -Were her presumably last thoughts before diving head first onto Kakashi's attack, a content smile on her face knowing that she'd reunite with her lover soon enough. Suddenly, at last minute, a black and white blur shot past Isamu with such speed that even his Eternal Mangekyou can hardly keep up. The mentioned figure stood between Rin and Kakashi's deadly jutsu, covering her from its fatal shot. He heard sounds of an ugly cough, wet and filled with what can only be assumed as blood. Looking at their direction, the image he sees made him shocked for the first time ever since last year.
Standing between his surrogate sister and fellow ninja kouhai, is Isamu's own dead sibling – Obito.
"I… made it… this time… *cough* I saved you… Rin…" -He croaked out weakly before collapsing on the muddy, blooded ground. Kakashi had a look of regret on his face, he killed his best friend… while Rin and Isamu just stood there, unmoving. Their bodies shook violently like they themselves were a time bomb, counting to detonation. And they did just that.
"I will not…" -Isamu began, the Susano'o already began to form around his bloody figure, recreating that feared turquoise warrior which made its debut on Iwagakure last year.
"..acCEPT ANY OF THISS!" -Rin finished her brother figure's sentence, her tone turning more and more devilish as each word fly. Suddenly, the brunette got emerged within a red chakra cloak, three sharp tails coming out from it. Heartbroken and drowned in rage, both her and Isamu rush forward, targeting any mortal threat that dared to touch Obito's possible dead body…
I'm gonna end it here, because it's already midnight when I finished this.
And I have a feeling that I should extend the story, instead of leaving it as a sorrowful oneshot. Also, this idea was in my mind for awhile now, so expressing it would be kinda interesting.
Hope you enjoy chapter 2 of Uchiha Siblings Gaiden! Any questions, just PM me, that's the word? Idk man, I'm so tired.
