Manhattan, New York
Vincent and Tanya moved casually through the apartment complex on their way to the penthouse. Vincent could have easily broken into the building but the last thing they wanted to do was raise a silent alarm. So he swiped a keycard from the landlord and duplicated it. This way that had access to the entire building.
To avoid suspicion they knew that they needed to act like they belonged there. Giving off all the air of a happy couple. They finally reached the top floor and slipped into what appeared to be an office their was a large desk and on it was a glass box with a strange object inside.
"Is that it?" Tanya asked.
Vincent nodded and with his bat broke the glass casing and taking the artifact. Placing it in a sack, Jacob sensed a presence behind him that wasn't Tanya, Vincent grabbed the conference station phone on the desk and without looking back threw it behind him, the phone hit something that let out a curse before a silenced shot rang out just missing Tanya. A second shot knocked the bat out of Vincent's hand. Instinctively Vincent and Tanya ducked behind a corner as the gunman recovered.
"I'll be taking whatever it is you stole," a snide voice said. "Hand it over and I'll make sure you're death is quick."
Vincent listened puzzled, "you sound familiar, have we met."
"Why don't you come into the light and find out." The gunman taunted.
As he neared the corner, Vincent grappled the hand holding the gun, several shots rang out as the two men struggled for the gun. Vincent landed several hard punches into the gunman's side causing him to grunt in pain. Vincent got the gunman's hand on the table right on top of the broken glass and slammed his elbow into it causing the gunman to drop his weapon. The Gunman staggered back and received a kick to the face. Causing him to fall on his back Vincent got on top of him his hands on his throat and his right foot pinning his left arm.
Tanya turned on the light and she and Vincent got a good look at their assailant. Vincent and the Gunman's eyes widened in recognition.
"YOU!" The Gunman exclaimed.
"Well now, if it isn't Daniel Cross," Vincent sneered, "my old punching bag, the good doctor must be desperate it he's willing to risk your unhinged neck for something like this."
Daniel's right hand found a lamp and smashed it across Vincent's face allowing Daniel to break free and scrambled for his gun aiming it at Vincent's head."
"You Bastard," Daniel snarled but before he could pull the trigger his eyes became unfocused and he pressed his other hand to his head, "No," he mumbled, "No, not now," he held his head as he began cursing in Russian.
Tanya chuckled, "It seems that little egg of yours is still scrambled deary. Though I guess you can't fix what was born broken."
Vincent drew his balisong and stabbed it through Daniel's hand causing him to drop the gun. He then threw the blonde man to the floor and slammed his foot down on Daniel's shoulder dislodging it. Daniel cried out in pain as Vincent released him. Vincent them clutched his face in a vice grip so the two saw eye to eye.
"Don't worry I won't kill you, though it would be the simplest thing to do so right now."
"Then why don't you," Daniel gasped through the pain.
Vincent smirked and shook his head, "you're not mine to kill, another's desire for vengeance needs to be sated. With that he released Daniel and stomped on his face knocking him out.
Just then Tanya came up to him, "Darling we got company and not the welcome kind."
Vincent nodded, "then it's time to leave." Before they headed out the door Vincent broke the sprinkler system and set fire to the penthouse. This tripped the fire alarm and caused a mass evacuation allowing Vincent and Tanya to blend in with the tenants. This way they were able to leave the building without catching the eye of the Abstergo guards that came rushing in. Once outside the couple made their way to their car and casually drove away.
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Michael and Jacob casually navigated around the stadium to reach the VIP booth on the upper level. To make their job easier, both men had initially taken the guise of local security personnel. As they were both fluent in brazilian portuguese, they were able to converse with the other guards without arousing suspicion. But when they spotted Abstergo agents walking around they saw an opportunity. After killing two of them in an isolated area. They stashed the bodies into bathroom stalls and they donned their uniforms. The uniforms also hid the bandana's around their necks. as well as their rather out of place armament
Michael had his maglite and tonfa, sadly Jacob was forced to be armed with a batons and a flashlight. Though he still had his hunting knife and tomahawk hidden in his uniform. They both had pistols but these would be only for extreme cases.
Thanks to their new disguises they were able to make it to the VIP Booth unimpeded. Once there they raised their bandanas over their faces and burst in the door. They knocked out the guards and pressed the barrels of the pistols to the necks of the Tycoon and his wife.
"Qual é o significado disso? (What is the meaning of this?)" the man demanded in Portuguese.
"Isto é um assalto. (This is a holdup)," Michael whispered in his native language.
"Entregue a pulseira e ninguém se machuca. (Hand over the bracelet and nobody gets hurt)," Jacob told the woman."
The frightened wife huried to obey and tossed the artifact on the floor. "Por favor, não nos machuque. (Please don't hurt us)."
"Pelo contrário, minha querida, podemos ter salvo você. (On the contrary my dear, we have just saved you.)" Michael replied. Jacob picked up the artifact and stashed it in his uniform as Holliday knocked the tycoon out.
The Wife knelt beside her unconscious husband as the two men quickly walked out. Michael radioed stadium security informing them of a man and woman in need of assistance. As they did, they saw a group of Abstergo guards headed their way. They were led by a man with dark greying hair and dark grey leather. Michael's eyes widened. he knew him as Juhani Otso Berg. He worked alongside him once during a covert joint mission to bring down a terrorist cell. "You there!" he called out, as he beckoned them over. Deciding to play the part, Michael and Jacob obeyed and headed towards them.
"Was that the VIP's Booth," Juhani asked his Finnish accent lacing his words. He gestured towards the room they had been in where security guards had rushed in
"Yes sir," Michael replied, "Evidently there was an incident and the man was knocked out."
"What kind of incident?" Juhani demanded.
"A man in a hood showed up and took the woman's bracelet. The wife claimed he had a knife on his arm." Michael lied easily. If he could sell the story that Desmond was here then they could get the Abstergo agents to waste time looking for someone who was never there.
The Abstergo guards looked at each other while Juhani snarled, "spread out and search the entire stadium." Michael and Jacob snapped at attention, "yes sir," they replied before turning and rushing towards the other end of the hall. They didn't see Juhani glare at them intently as a guard whispered in his ear.
Michael and Jacob went to an unmonitored location and stripped off their Abstergo uniforms revealing the Brazilian security uniforms underneath.
They made it about halfway to the train when they found themselves in a green area surrounded by Abstergo guards with their guns drawn. and Juhani stepped forth. "A clever ruse you pulled off." he commended. "I feel like a fool for not recognizing you sooner Michael," he gestured to Michael.
Michael smirked, "Yes, though to be fair it has been a while?" He looked around at the other templars, "So these must be part of sigma team," he grinned, "this may prove interesting."
"Hand over the artifact and give yourselves up," Juhani replied. "we've got you surrounded and outnumbered."
Michael turned to Jacob and nodded. Reluctantly, Jacob pulled the artifact out of his coat and handed it to one of the Abstergo agents. He then handed it to Juhani."
"Outnumbered? Michael asked, before chuckling, "Not for much longer."
"What do you mean?" Juhani demanded, as he said this, a dozen security guards led by a Sergeant rushed in their guns pointed at the Abstergo agents. The agents in turn aimed their guns at the guards.
"Drop the guns and get down on your knees with your hands up." The Guards yelled at the agents."
"What is the meaning of this?" The head templar demanded."
"The woman in the VIP booth claims she was robbed by men wearing your uniforms," The Sergeant replied.
"We didn't rob her" Juhani explained, He then pointed to the pair in the middle, "they did."
Michael shook his head, "we saw one of them with the bracelet and followed him. all of a sudden we were surrounded.' He in turn pointed to the artifact in Juhani's hand. "He had it in his coat
Juhani froze as his eyes went to the evidence in his hand and realized why they had given it up so easily.
"ON THE GROUND NOW!' The sergeant demanded.
Realizing they trap they were in Juhani have the signal as he shot the sergeant in the head, His agents did the same. Soon the security guards were dead though they did manage to take out 2 agents.
Meanwhile the pair grinned and raised their bandanas over their faces. Michael drew his maglite and Tonfa, while Jacob revealed his hunting knife and tomahawk. "Outnumbered perhaps, but not outmatched," he snarled. With that, the two men engaged the swarm of templar goons.
They moved so close and so quickly that the agents couldn't get a clear shot at them forcing them to engage the duo in melee combat as they drew their batons.
Jacob cut down four of them with ease before reaching Juhani as Michael dealt with the other agents. With his axe embedded in an unfortunate templars, Jacob engaged Juhani with his knife. Juhani tried to shoot him but Jacob threw his knife at juhani causing his first shot to miss and Jacob to get close enough to lock his arm and twist it causing Juhani to drop his gun. Without his knife and axe, Jacob now engaged Juhani in hand to hand. During their brutal exchange it became clear that Jacob had the upper hand. As they fought Jacob noted that the leader seemed to have military training.
"You're Finnish special forces?" he asked.
The leader smirked, "Utti Jaeger Regiment," He in turn was studying Jacob's style but couldn't place it. It was by no means ineffective but it didn't match any form used by militaries or martial arts he was familiar with. Whatever the case he was clearly proficient and each blow had a significant amount of power behind them. "What about you? I can't quite place the style."
"Combato," Jacob replied, "and Capoeira."
The leader frowned, both were known to be highly lethal and aggressive styles and because of that they were illegal in sporting events.
Juhani tried to get him in an arm lock but Jacob turned the tables, pulling Juhani up close to his face delivering and elbow crashing into Juhani's cheek, stunning him. Jacob got his knife and was about to finish him."
"STOP," Michael ordered just as he finished off the last agent. Jacob looked at him. and Michael continued. "A message needs to be sent."
Jacob nodded and pulled Juhani up till they were face to face. "Your people have my wife, Vidic knew her as 15, tell him that if she or her child are dead then I will make sure he dies slowly." With that he dropped Juhani and knocked him out with a stomp to the face.
Michael pocketed the artifact and together he and Jacob headed out. After changing their clothes, the two boarded the train. Leaving with their prize the battered Templars in their wake and a successful Mission.
Cairo, Eqypt
Kenneth and Lucy drove through the crowded Streets of the bustling city. As the nation's capitol, it was always buzzing with activity. While it made it difficult to move around quickly, it also made it easy for them to blend in. Kenny wore a balaclava and Lucy a burka to avoid any Templar agents.
Lucy noticed that her partner was on edge, "you seem nervous."
Kenneth nodded, "I've never done work outside the states before."
"I've never been to Egypt myself," Lucy confessed. "but there's a first time for everything.
Kenny nodded grimly as he looked out the window, as traffic was going slow they had decided to make small talk. "So I take it that you and Desmond are serious."
Lucy blushed hotly, "Tha-that's none of your concern."
Kenny hmphed, "I don't mean to pry, but you know how the Mentor is with this sort of thing, especially when it comes to his son."
Lucy nodded, "I wasn't meant to be like this."
Kenny shook his head, "I'm not judging, It's nothing to be ashamed about. Love knows not time or place, it just happens, like everything in life."
Lucy sighed, "yes I like to think were a couple but I don't want to take this too far until we save the world."
Kenny shrugged I guess I can see that, all the same you should take advantage of all the time you can get." His face became solemn, "I wish I did when I had the chance."
"Maybe you still can," Lucy encouraged.
Kenny shook his head, and Lucy swore she saw a tear roll down, "I lost her in the Purge."
Lucy blushed with embarrassment, "I-I'm so sorry," she said, "I didn't know."
"It's alright, you couldn't have known, Hannah and I tried to keep it a secret."
"Hannah?" Lucy wondered. "Hannah Mueller?"
Kenny nodded, "I knew that russian cabron couldn't be trusted, but I trusted Hannah's judgment and ignored my instincts. If I knew the extent of Daniel's treachery I would have killed him when I had the chance. Even it it meant loosing Hannah, at least she would still be alive. In my dreams I kill him every night, the one thing keeping me going is what I will do to him once I find him."
Lucy simply nodded, she understood his desire for revenge, though she couldn't help but compare herself to Daniel. 'Daniel was a sleeper agent, always a templar. But am I so different, I betrayed the assassins as much as he did.' She thought, 'though not to the extent as Cross I still caused the deaths of many assassins.' Yet Desmond knew and he chose to protect me, to believe in me.' She shuddered at the thought, 'what if Desmond didn't love me, what if his sense of duty outweigh his feelings for me.' She knew the answer to that, 'I would likely be dead right now.'
The address the contact texted them was an abandoned warehouse just outside the city limits. They parked the car and headed to the door Lucy noticed the Assassin logo hidden withing some grafitti. There was nobody standing guard but the door was unlocked. They were suspicions at first until another text came in stain=ting that they would be alone and that she was in a room at the far end. Heading inside, they made they way to the room while keeping their eyes peeled for anything suspicious. the Warehouse was mostly empty save for a partially built car and a scattered assortment of spare parts.
Opening the door Lucy and Kenny saw a small figure was sitting at a table in the middle of the room. Her head was resting on the table and she appeared to be sleeping. On the table was a glowing object that Lucy guessed was the item they had come for
"Halima," Lucy called to her, but no response came. Lucy strode quickly towards her, "Halima, we're here." Lucy nudged her ever so slightly and it was enough tip the delicate way she was balanced. The body crumpled to the flood and finally Lucy saw Halima's lifeless face, staring back at her. Lucy cried out in horror as she layed there cradling the body of her friend, "h-how," She stammered, "I don't understand."
"No?" a voice said behind them, Both assassins turned to see a tall man dressed in grey standing at the entrance. "It's not that complicated," he stepped forward and smiled. "Welcome Ms. Stillman."
'The man clearly worked for the templars,' Lucy could tell immediately but what caught her eye was the patch on his shoulder. "A Black Cross," she realized, she had never met one personally but she was aware that they were responsible for weeding out assassin spies and disillusion in the ranks of the order. They were reputed to be very dangerous with skill rivalling and even surpassing even veteran assassins. Looking at Kenny she saw that he had turned deathly pale and his sword arm was shaking."
"Simon," His voice barely above a whisper
The Black Cross Simon smiled, "hello Brother."
"BROTHER?" Lucy asked incredulously.
"By blood only," Kenny replied icily.
Simon made a pouty face and put a hand to his heart. "Oh, now that hurts truly it does. Is that any way to speak to family?"
"I lost a dozen of my closest friends to your hands. Not to mention you and Eric also single handedly took out several Brotherhood chapters."
"Now you can add the Egyptian Brotherhood to that list," Simon smirked gesturing to Halima's corpse."
"YOU BASTARD, WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER!" Lucy shrieked.
Simon chuckled, "I'm afraid your friend was killed in an earlier raid." He pulled out a glowing artifact from his coat pocket, "she took something that wasn't hers to take. Ms...-Halima, was it? Was dead long before you received the message, fortunately her corpse continued to aid the Templars in more ways than one."
Lucy activated her hidden blade and pulled out a baton, Kenneth did the same with his blade and drew his cane sword.
Simon shook his head, "as entertaining as that would be, sadly I don't have time to play with you and your colleague insists that you not be harmed so-" With lightning speed he drew out a tranquilizer pistol and before Lucy could budge an inch he had already taken aim and fired a dart into her neck. Lucy was only able to pull the dart out before collapsing to the floor.
Seeing his partner down Kenny lunged forward only to find his wrist wrapped in a chain the Simon had produced from his wrist. With his arm trapped, the Simon swung him around sending him head first into the opposite wall. Kenny recovered as his opponent pulled out the rest of the chain revealing a meteor hammer with a dart on the other end.
"Ms. Stillman was not to be harmed," The Simon explained, "You on the other hand will not be so fortunate." He smiled and started swinging the meteor hammer round and round.
