Chapter 19

"Have you heard anything?" Elliot asked as he, Olivia, and Calvin walked into the waiting room, they'd been ushered to upon explaining to the front desk receptionist why they were there.

"I'm not family so, no. They've called her folks and they're on their way in. They live near Albany," Fin explained.

"I'm sorry Uncle Fin. I tried…" Fin stopped Calvin from saying any more.

"You have nothing to be sorry about. You were very brave to rush out into the hallway and you did the right thing by calling Momma Bear. What matters now is that you're safe little man and that Sally got help fast," the elder man told him. Calvin gave him a hug and the usually stiff detective hugged him back.

"He must be in bad shape. He never hugs anyone in front of us," Elliot whispered to Olivia. She only nodded. They quickly took seats near him, where Munch, Kenny, and the Captain were sitting.

"What could they possibly want from you Benson?" Cragen asked as she took the seat next to him. She quickly gave him a rundown of what happened before continuing with,

"I have no idea what they wanted. There is nothing in the apartment regarding the case," this of course wasn't entirely true but she wasn't going to say what she was thinking out loud. Jerking her head toward Calvin, the Captain nodded, knowing what she was trying to get at. Kidnapping Calvin had to be what they were after. If it was a robbery, they would have left once they heard Calvin on the phone. These guys were determined and the only reason they took off was because Sally interrupted them or could possibly ID them.

"You two have somewhere to stay?" Don wanted to know.

"Elliot has graciously offered we stay at his place," she said.

"On what bed?" The Captain raised an eyebrow.

"I know. I think he's worried that whoever came after Calvin would try something and he wants us close," Olivia told him.

"I don't blame him. I'm not seeing how this ties into our case though," her superior said.

"I'm not either unless my connection with Stephanie is what is driving this. Maybe whoever it is, is afraid she told me something? They kidnap Calvin and then try to use him to keep me quiet? These could be the same people who killed Stephanie's uncle," she pointed out.

"When you've already committed murder, what's a kidnapping between friends?" It was the sarcasm the Captain was known for.

"I wonder if these guys saw me and Elliot picking Stephanie up from the soccer field. We still don't know why she wandered away from Doug's place. She still has refused to tell us that which makes me think that she wasn't with him," Olivia said.

"I know where you're going with that. Kenny and Fin didn't get through the videos. Munch may have an answer with the sheet. We need to regroup. These people have escalated and who knows what will happen next," Cragen told her.

"We can't leave Fin by himself," Olivia said.

"We aren't," the Captain stood up and quickly announced that he would stay with Fin and that the rest should head back to the precinct. It would be the safest place for Calvin and they needed to move quickly in case it could aid the detective working on what had happened at Olivia's apartment. The detectives quickly said their good-byes to Fin and told him to keep them informed. He promised to do so and they headed out of the building. On the way, Elliot commented,

"That file must have had some really informative clues on it."

"Oh, you could say that. I'm guessing Linda thought she was being so smart. Problem was, once you had the key, it was super easy," Munch smirked.

"Does that mean I can stop watching those…" Kenny trailed off.

"Yeah it doesn't. Need to match faces with the names," the eldest detective shook his head. Kenny heaved a sigh. He was going to need something to get those pictures out of his mind.
