Camila hugged Lucia, happy that her oldest was back.
"I have both my babies back." Camila said.
"Mom, I'm 22. I'm not a baby anymore." Lucia said.
"I'm going to call you my baby till the day I die."
They sat at the table and ate their first family dinner in a year.
"So, Darling, how has life been?" Camila asked, "You haven't been home since last summer."
"Oh, well, I… started dating." Lucia said.
"Really? I remember you telling me that you'll be a bachelor forever." Belos said.
"Well, that was before I met my roommate. You should see her, she smart, beautiful, and… she's also a witch."
"You managed to meet another witch at a human college."
"Yeah, I think she went to your school, Dad."
"What's her name?" Camila asked.
"Becky."
"Wait, Becky? Becky Triplet?" Belos asked.
"Yeah, we shared a room... among other things." Lucia whispered that last part.
"I don't think we need to know the rest." Camila said, "So Luz, are you excited to go to Hexside High?"
"I... I guess." Luz said, "I'm nervous."
"You'll be fine." Lucia said, "I was the same way when I began there."
"Yeah, but you some kind of prodigy." Luz said, "I don't know why you didn't take multiple Tracks."
"Because, that is hard, I was a prodigy at one type of magic and that is Construction." Lucia said, "Besides, I always wanted to become a teacher, so magic isn't that important to me. I don't use it for much anyway."
"Besides using it to light your weed?" Camila asked.
"I haven't smoked weed in a year." Lucia said, upon the look her parents gave her gave another answer, "Six months... okay, I haven't smoked in a month."
"I swear, you need to stop that habit, it will ruin your health." Camila said.
"And pushing two half witches out of your body was probably bad for your health." Lucia said.
"You know, if you live under this roof, I am able to ground you."
Lucia was silent for a second before looking at her dad.
"So, dad, about my trust fund."
"You aren't getting it before you're thirty, we already discussed this." Belos said, "Besides, you'll be getting a paycheck soon, you just need to get hired."
"Which begs the question, have you gotten an idea of where you want to teach?" Camila asked.
"Not yet, but there are some that I'm looking at."
Luz ate in silence, no matter what she was told, she was nervous.
