Chapter 30

Olivia opened the front door to her apartment – her nap was interrupted by someone banging on the brand-new wooden entry. She hadn't made any attempt to make herself look like she hadn't just woken up from a nap. She just wasn't in the mood.

"You ok Baby Girl?" It was Fin and he was by himself. Benson wondered how he knew that she'd insisted on going back to her apartment but figured it had probably been Elliot. Her partner had wanted to stay with her, but she'd told him she needed some space and, begrudgingly, he'd left for his own place. The apartment had been released as a crime scene and the new front door was much sturdier that the original door. The landlord had installed two deadbolts on top of the doorknob lock. It was overkill and she didn't ask for it, but she wasn't going to turn it down either.

"Well, I was sleeping. What's up?" Olivia asked as she let him in.

"We got a name on Kevin's friend," he told her, as she closed the front door of the apartment. The brunette knew there was more to it and for some reason he was holding back. She raised an eyebrow at him and then realized that Calvin wasn't home. Checking the clock on the wall in the living room, it confirmed that the boy should have been home from school by now.

"Where is Calvin?" Olivia wanted to know. They were still standing in the entrance to the apartment; the brunette hadn't moved from her spot.

"Elliot picked Calvin up from school. He's taking him to the precinct. Until we bring this guy in and had brought everyone up to speed, Cragen didn't want him to go home. The Captain wanted me to bring you back in," Fin explained.

"Who is this guy?" She asked.

"Peter Bell," he said. Olivia's eyes went wide. It couldn't be the same guy…

"As in Alex's old boyfriend?" The brunette was really hoping it wasn't true. Still, it would explain why the perps knew where to attempt to break into her apartment. Alex had brought him over a few times so they could double date. While Olivia's dates had changed, Alex and Peter had been dating for almost a year and a half when things went bad.

"Regrettably, yes. We confirmed it. Mo cracked the flash drive. I thought Cabot was going to throw up when she saw him on one of the videos," Fin said.

"We have video proof of Linda and Peter abusing Stephanie?" She wanted to know.

"Yes," he told her.

"Oh God," Olivia let out a loud breath.

"Why don't you get yourself ready and we'll get back to the precinct?" Fin wondered.

"Yeah. Help yourself to the couch. There isn't much in the fridge, haven't been able to shop. Just manage to chuck the food that went bad," Olivia told him before heading back down the hall to the bathroom.

"Is Mom ok?" Calvin asked when he and Elliot arrived at the bull pen, only to find that Olivia and Fin weren't there yet. The young man sat down in Olivia's chair while Elliot perched himself on the desk edge.

"She's struggling with this case, bud. We all are but we have to catch this bad guy so no one else gets hurt," Elliot explained.

"I wish I could help her," the young man said.

"You are. Just by being there," the older man gave him a small smile. He wanted to talk to her and see how she was feeling but he wasn't sure when he'd get the chance.

"There is something you need to know. She hurt her hand, so just be careful when you see her," Elliot told him. Before Calvin could respond, Munch and Kenny exited the Captain's office with their superior officer right behind them.

"Stabler, Calvin, glad you're here. Just waiting on Liv and Fin. There's an APB out for our suspect. Linda is still refusing to roll on him though," Cragen explained as Munch and Kenny headed for their desks.

"So, all we have is Kevin and the videos. Well, that should be enough, right? Does Stephanie and her family still have protection? Anyone check in with Doug and his mom?" Elliot wanted to know.

"Everyone is safe. Problem is Kevin took so long, our guy probably escaped our jurisdiction already," Munch spoke up.

"So why have us come here?" Olivia asked from behind them. She and Fin had arrived and Elliot couldn't help but look at the bandages on her hand.

"We need a deep dive on Peter. If he owns a boat, property, heck a motor scooter, I want to know about it. The patrol officers keeping an eye on his apartment haven't seen him yet," Cragen said.

"He hasn't showed up to work for two days," Kenny told them.

"Have we been inside his apartment?" Olivia wanted to know as she moved toward her desk and Calvin.

"No, we're hoping if he does come back, that we can corner him before he gets inside, but if not, at least he'll still think that he's in the clear. That's why the APB hasn't gone out to the press yet – just interdepartmental," Cragen said.

"Does Alex have protection? If this guy didn't think twice about coming after me and Calvin…" Olivia let the thought hang there.

"She plans on staying at her office with the court officers and when she's leaving, I have the local precinct officers bringing her home. You think he'll try and reach out after all of this?" The Captain wasn't so sure that he'd try that considering he had to know that Kevin and Linda were not where they were supposed to be.

"I have no idea. He wasn't this person when Alex knew him," Olivia shrugged. That's when Fin's phone rang. He'd been expecting the hospital to call him when Sally would be ready for discharge. The call was short and his coworkers waited for him to say something.

"The doctors don't want to release Sally just yet. Her white blood cell count is elevated and they're concerned it could be an infection," he frowned.

"Go. We've got this covered," Cragen told him. Fin nodded and quickly headed for the elevator.

"I hope Sally will be ok," Calvin said. Olivia leaned down and kissed the top of his head.

"Me too kiddo," she said.
