Chapter One: What was Supposed to be a Secret.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.

A/N: Let's just pretend that women vampires can get pregnant and give birth to vampire babies...

"This is a great crime you've done here Mr. Higurashi! Do you understand what you've done could possibly cost us all of our lives if the human race finds out about this!? And what of the mother and the unborn child, hmm, what are we suppose to do with them!? Let them stay!? Ha, that's ludicrous! You are lucky you hold such a high position in this coven or you and the whore would've already been exiled and that's still up for debate if you haven't figured anything out by the time the child is born! Do I make myself clear!?"

Mr. Higurashi bowed. "Yes, I understand the consequences and I will figure something out-I promise."

"Be sure that you do. It would be a shame to lose someone as important as you, but always remember that you can be easily replaced if you don't figure something out."

"Yes, Great Elder, I understand. Thank you for giving me a chance."

The Great Elder waved his hand at him clearly dismissing him from his presents. Mr. Higurashi made a hasty retreat in hopes he would have time to come up with something by the time his little girl would be born. He cursed under his breath, he only had about four months to find a way for them to be able to stay in this coven.

Five years later.

"Daddy, why do I have to wear this bracelet? It's uncomfortable and makes me feel weird." A five-year-old Kagome complained, moving to take the bracelet off.

Mr. Higurashi darted out a hand to stop his daughter from taking the bracelet off, they were standing in front of the Great Elder waiting to see if Kagome would be accepted to go to public school or if she would be forced to be homeschooled.

The Great Elder cleared his throat bringing both the man and little girl's attention to him. "You must wear this bracelet, Kagome. If you don't you and your family will be disowned and exiled by this and every other coven out there. You must hide your human traits if you ever want to be accepted in this coven."

"Human? I'm not human I'm a-"

"Oh, you never told her about the human blood running through her veins? I'm very disappointed in you, Mr. Higurashi, Keeping this matter a secret from the child." The Great Elder sighed then moved to stand before the both of them. "I'm going to assume the mother is either dead or has been turned."

Kagome flicked her crimson eyes between the Great Elder and her father. 'Dead or turned? What was that supposed to mean?'

Mr. Higurashi gulped, not really wanting to remember that nightmare. "Yes, she's been changed. I changed her right after she gave birth, it was touch and go there for awhile but she pulled through and is going strong."

Kagome tried to keep up with the conversation going on, the more she listened the more confused she became. 'What does daddy mean 'she's been changed' hasn't mommy always been a vampire?'

The Great Elder sighed again. "I suppose, if she can keep the bracelet on, she can attend public school."

Mr. Higurashi bowed. "Thank you, Great Elder, you won't regret your choice."

"Yes, make sure that I don't." The Great Elder said then dismissing them with a wave of his hand.

The first day of school.

"Are you sure this is such a good idea?" Mrs. Higurashi asked as she was brushing her daughters pitch black hair. "I mean she really hasn't been accepted by any kid that's her age. The Great Elder said that he would keep our secret, but he hasn't! The whole coven knows! No one will let their children even get close to her. So what's the point of her wearing that damn bracelet!?"

Mr. Higurashi sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Please, Kaori, you know as well as I do-that bracelet is the only thing keeping her alive! As long as she is wearing it, she is as safe as she can be-so please lets not argue about this...again."

Kaori sighed, but didn't say anything as she braided her daughters hair. Kagome sat listening to her parents conversation, still confused about the whole bracelet thing and her having human blood. No one has ever told her that before, but thinking about it know kind of made sense. She was always called names by the other kids such as; halfie, tainted blood, abominable, half blood ect. Every time she tried to ask her mother or father they would hug her and cry for her, but never answer her questions.

'So, this bracelet hides what I really look like?' Kagome thought fingering the round black and white fang like beads of the bracelet. 'But, I don't still don't understand how I can be half human and half vampire at the same time! Why did mommy and daddy keep it a secret from me?'

"Okay, Kagome, is my big girl ready for the first day school?" Her mother asked with fake enthusiasm.

Kagome merely nodded her head and worried her lip between her teeth.

All day she was made fun of by-not only the students, but the teachers as well. She had no safe place at the school, she had been laughed at, pushed down and names being tossed at her. When she walked through the door, she made sure any trace of tears and sadness were off her face and a false smile plastered on her face.

"Oh, hi Kagome! How was your first day?" Kaori asked, she watched as her daughter said nothing but nodded. Kaori walked to kneel in front of her daughter and drugged her in for a tight hugged as she cried and apologized to Kagome over and over again.

"What's wrong, mommy? I said I had a good day." Kagome asked as tears started to gather in her own eyes.

As the years rolled by Kagome's encounters with the other vampires her age got more and more violent, until at the end of eighth grade-Kagome had been jumped and badly injured and rushed to the hospital.

"This is getting out of hand! We need to do something!" Kaori cried out as she looked at her unconscious twelve-year-old daughter lying on the bed. The doctors didn't seem to concerned about her sever injuries and wanted to just let her die. "We can't stay here and let the others have their way with her!" She cried looking down at her eight-year-old full blooded vampire son and wandered if he'd be accepted wherever they went. She didn't want to repeat this and make her son go through the same thing her daughter went through, but she didn't know what else to do.

Mr. Higurashi nodded and stomped out of the room to give the doctor a piece of his mind. They will safe his baby girl one way or the other, he wasn't about to stand by and let them let her die just because of her blood! And once Kagome was strong enough then they will make their next move.

Please review. Until next time, bye!
