Chapter 7: Night Surfing Part Two.

An hour later the door bell rang and Kagome got up to answer the door.
"Hi Kagome!" Sango said. "Are you able to come with us tonight?"
Kagome smiled and stepped aside to let her friends step into the living room. "Yes, I can."
Mr. Higurashi turned the television off as he and Kaori stood up to meet Kagome's friends. "You must be Sango, Miroku and Inuyasha. It's very nice to meet you." He said nodding his head.
Sango, Miroku and Inuyasha bowed as Sango aswered. "Yes, that's us. It's very nice to meet you as well. We all are very fortunate to have met Kagome."
"That's nice of you to say." Kaori smiled at Sango. "We were worried that Kagome would have a difficult time making friends and we are overjoyed that she has met you guys! So, is there going to be anyone else that's going with you?"
"Just my half brother and his girlfriend." Inuyasha answered.
"Ah, you must be Inuyasha-you're half demon are you not?" Mr. Higurashi asked.
"Keh, what's it to you?" Inuyasha muttered.
"Please don't take offense. It make no difference to us." Mr. Higurashi assured him and smiled as Inuyasha rolled his eyes muttering a whatever under his breath.
"I have a bikini for you to wear, Kagome." Sango said handing a bag to Kagome.
"Okay, thanks. I'll go and change." Kagome said as she ran to her room. Once in her room Kagome opened the bag and dumped out a bright pink two piece on the bed. She then looked at her white tank top and blue shorts and wrinkled her nose at the whole outfit and bikini. She wasn't use to wearing anything but black, she sighed as her mother showed up home one day with different colors of tank tops and shorts and wouldn't take 'no' or 'only black looks good on me.' for an answer. Her mother practically forced her into wearing something else but black all the time. She sighed as she began getting undressed and putting the bikini on.
About thirty minutes later the group arrived at the beach. Kagome looked out the window as slowed to a stop-she saw that there were two people already there. Rin and a man with long sliver hair, golden eyes, pointy ears, twin purple strips on his cheeks and a purple crescent moon on his forehead. She surmised that the man was most likely Inuyasha's brother he mentioned at her house.
Stepping out of the car, Inuyasha and Miroku got the surf boards down from the top of the car.
"I brought an extra for you, Kagome." Sango said.
"Thank you." Kagome answered taking the board away from Sango and they started walking towards Rin and the man.
Rin was waving her hand over her head with a bright smile on her face while the man held a frown and narrowed his eyes.
"Hi Kagome! I'm glad you were able to come! It's going to be so much fun!" Rin exclaimed with excitement.
"It took you long enough to get here." Sesshomaru said in an icy voice.
"Yeah? Well, we had to go get her and talk to her family for a bit, then she took forever getting ready." Inuyasha said annoyed.
Kagome shot Inuyasha a dirty look, but didn't say anything as they all started to walk towards the water. When they all reached the water Kagome watched and Inuyasha, Miroku and Sesshomaru paddled into the deeper water then sat up on their board as if they were waiting for something. They had to wait for about five minutes for the water to build up into a wave and Kagome watched as they paddled up to the wave and the stand up on their boards. Sesshomaru and Miroku going to ride on top of the wave while Inuyasha went through the tunnel of the wave.
Kagome watched in aww as she took the life jacket from Sango and put it on. She then followed Sango and Rin to go join the men in the deeper water. They spent the next twenty minutes teaching Kagome how to watch for a wave then how to stand up and the stance to take when she stood up. It took a couple of tries for Kagome to be able to stand on the board and get into the stance that she needed to be in without falling down.
Everyone now sat on their board watching for waves to come.
"Here one comes! Kagome, you take this one." Rin smiled at Kagome.
"Oh! O-okay." Kagome took a deep breath then started paddling to where the wave was building up. She then stood up on shaky legs and was only able to stay standing for a couple seconds before she lost her balance and fell in the water.
Coming back to the surface of the water Kagome hollered with exhilarated joy, she had never felt more alive than this moment.
They surfed and caught waves for about thirty minutes longer, then they just laid on their backs on their boards staring up at the stars talking about nothing in particular letting the small waves gently move them around.
"So, you ever going to tell us the truth about your bracelet, Kagome?" Inuyasha brought up during a break in their conversation.
"I-I already told you the truth!" Kagome stammered.
"Keh, why do you choose to lie when you know that I can smell it when you do?" Inuyasha asked with furrowed brows. He didn't know why he cared so much about her secret, but he just had to know what it was.
"Why do you care so much, Inuyasha?" Kagome demanded to know.
"Because I used to spend my days in hiding before moving here, I have something that looks just like your bracelet, but mine is a necklace. You don't have to hide here, Kagome, this place accepts everyone-no matter what." Inuyasha explained. "My friends helped me a lot when I was nervous to show them how I really looked, but I finally did and they accepted me. It took a whole year after that to expose what I really looked like because I was still nervous, but when I did everyone was very accepting of me and what I was."
Kagome sighed. "I-I can't secrets keeps me alive, Inuyasha. They keep my family alive-I cant risk that."
The topic about Kagome's bracelet dropped as Inuyasha tried to digest that new information. They all got out of the water and started up a bonfire. They all sat on the logs around the fire pit and started telling ghost stories as they roasted marshmallows for smores. Kagome sat on a log beside Sango with her knees drawn to her chest, her arms wrapped around her knees and her chin resting on top of her knees. Inuyasha stared at Kagome unable to look away, unable to keep his mind off of her and her secret.
