Chapter 12: Do You Believe in the Horror Stories of Blood Suckers?
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!
The day passed by faster than Kagome had wanted and before she was ready, her and the other were walking towards her house. It really was her father's birthday, but that wasn't the reason she wanted them to come over and she still couldn't believe she was being forced to come clean before she was even close to being ready too-but that was life, wasn't it? Being forced to do things before being ready? It happened everyday to a lot of different people, she surmised, but that didn't make her feel any better. She was terrified, but she didn't have a choice if they wanted to have their help.
Sure she could give them a watered down version of what was going on and she was sure they would still help, but they deserved the full truth. Plus, she didn't want to lie to her friends. She let out a sigh and let her shoulders slump forward-she really wasn't ready to do this-she was terrified that she'd lose the only people that even considered her to be friend worthy.
"Kagome? Are you okay?" Sango asked placing a hand on Kagome's shoulder and giving it a squeeze.
"Oh, um, y-yeah I'm okay." Kagome stammered not sounding convincing at all.
Sango, Inuyasha and Miroku all shared concerning looks, but didn't push the matter anymore, knowing that when Kagome was ready that she'd open up to them.
"I'm home!" Kagome called out when she walked through the front door entering in the living room.
"In the kitchen, dear."
Kagome frowned and furrowed her eyebrows, something seemed off about her mother's voice. She rounded the corner walking into the kitchen before gasping and feeling the color drain from her face. She saw her mother, father and brother all tied to the kitchen chairs while Naraku, Kagura and Hakudoshi were standing in the kitchen.
"Welcome home, half-blood." Naraku's smooth voice rent the room and made a shiver of fear creep up Kagome's spine and freezing her blood in her veins.
"Kagome, what's going on?" Inuyasha asked her.
"Oh, you haven't told anyone your secret, have you, half-blood?" Naraku asked with venom seeping out past his lips.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" Sango growled out.
"Tell me, dog." Naraku continued completely ignoring Sango's question. "You're a half-blood as well, isn't that right?"
"What of it?" Inuyasha growled out.
"Hmm," Naraku hummed walking around the room. "Now, tell me-all of you-do you believe in the horror storied of blood suckers?"
"Blood suckers? You mean as in vampires?" Miroku asked.
Naraku smiled an evil smile and focused his attention right on Miroku. "Yes, vampires, do you believe in the scary bedtime stories of Dracula that was meant to keep children from leaving their beds in the middle of the night?" He didn't give them enough time to answer. "All those stories that you've heard growing up are, in fact, one-hundred percent true. Vampires do roam the streets, everyday, right beside you and you never knew. We blended in perfectly with your little society and was able to learn everything about you and how the human world works so we could come in and perpetrate it. In fact, Mr. Higurashi right there, came in and manipulated huge groups of humans into coming into our territory so we could feed off of them.
"You see, we have a problem, Mr. Higurashi broke a major law about fifteen years ago. He eloped with a human woman and bore a filthy half-blood child. Would you like to tell them who that child was, hmm, Kagome?" Naraku said in false sincerity.
Inuyasha and the others saw Kagome jump and look at the ground. Saw her muscles tense up and Inuyasha smelt as the tears sprang to her eyes.
"Tell them, NOW!" Naraku's voice boomed with promised murder if she didn't obey him.
"Me." Kagome whispered with barely any volume to her voice.
"I'm afraid no one can here you Kagome, dear." Naraku went back to his sickening sweet voice.
"It's me. I'm the filthy half-blood." Kagome looked up toward her friends with twin trails of tear streaks staining her cheeks. "I brought you here to tell you and ask for your help to fight against Naraku in hopes that we could win and stay here and just be happy." Kagome sighed and looked back to the floor. "But, I guess that's not going to happen. I don't know why I expected anything else, but this to be my outcome-but please, let my family go and just take me."
"You see I would, but we need your father to come back so we can prosper again-and if he refuses everyone here will die."
"No, please don't! I'll come back with you, just leave them alone!" Mr. Higurashi begged.
"Okay, but our stipulations have changed from allowing the whole family come back to only allowing you to come back. Your family must remain here or suffer dire consequences."
"But-"
"This is not open to discussion, Mr. Higurashi, either take this deal and let your family live or refuse and you all will die!" Naraku said effectively closing the topic. "I will allow ten minutes so you can say goodbye to your family and pack, we'll be waiting outside. And Mr. Higurashi, remember if you try anything funny we won't hesitate to rid you of this world." He warned before his goons and himself stalked outside.
"Oh, daddy!" Kagome cried running over to untie her family from the chairs and then throwing her arms around her father's neck. "I'm so sorry this is all my fault! If I was a full vampire none of this would be happening."
"Shh, sweet girl. None of this is your fault, so please stop blaming yourself. I want you to love yourself and remember I love you human and vampire blood both!" Mr. Higurashi said pulling her closer to him.
"There must be something that we can do!" Kaori cried and threw herself at her husband when he pulled away from Kagome.
"There is nothing that can be done that won't cause you your life." Mr. Higurashi whispered to his wife.
"We'll think of something and save you from that horrid place." Kaori promised.
Mr. Higurashi pulled away and gave her a chaste kiss before pulling completely away and holding his arms out so his son can jump into to his waiting arms.
"I'm going to miss you, daddy." Souta cried into his father's chest.
"As I'll miss you my son." Mr. Higurashi sat his son back on his feet and knelt down to be at eye level with his son. "You're man of the house now and I need you to protect your mother and sister, okay."
"Okay." Souta sniffled and watched as his father smiled and ruffled his hair.
"That's my boy."
Please review. Until next time, bye.
