Hey! I just finished reading the last Tokyo Mew Mew: a la mode today, and I guess my mood from that inspired this little piece...
Nothing belongs to me!
"Berry! Hey, Berry!"
"Hmmmm?" she called blearily as she opened her eyes. "Tas…uku…?"
"Berry, come on!" the excited boy called from just outside her window.
"What the…?"
Berry walked up to her window slowly. "What on earth…?" she asked, opening it.
"No time to explain! Quick, come on, before it stops!"
"Before what—Tasuku!"
He grabbed her arm and pulled her out the window with him. "Come on, do you want to miss it?"
"Miss what? TASUKU!" she shrieked as he leaped off of her windowsill, carrying her in his arms. "Could you stop trying to get us killed?"
He winked as they landed gently on the ground. "Berry, that's half the fun!" Letting her down, he pointed to the sky. "Now look up!"
"What the—oh! Wow!" Berry stopped her remonstrations as she looked up at the night sky. The stars were unusually bright, shining up against a brilliant meteor shower. The hundreds of meteors lit up the night, shining a faint sakura-colored pink.
"Wow! I've never seen something so beautiful!"
Tasuku smiled down at the blonde. "I have."
Meanwhile, another person looked out upon the same lovely sky. She sat at her windowsill and brushed back a strand of the pink hair that had been blown into her face by the wind. A reminiscent smile played on her lips as she leaned out her open window.
"Kish…."
"That was amazing, Tasuku!" Berry gushed a few minutes later. "I didn't know there was going to be a meteor shower; did you?"
"Nope. The bright light just woke me up. So," he said, grinning, "ready to get back into your room?"
"You know, now that I think of it…TASUKU, WE COULD'VE WATCHED THIS FROM MY ROOM INSTEAD OF HAVING TO JUMP OUT THE WINDOW!"
He winced, although his smile didn't sag a bit. "Berry, didn't you say that I'm not allowed inside your room anymore?"
"That's never stopped you before!"
"Details, details…"
"Beautiful," the figure whispered, looking out into the night sky even after the meteor shower had ended. "It's been three years, but you haven't forgotten, Kish. And neither have I. We met for the first time today, three years ago at the zoo."
The phone rang all of a sudden, and she hastily picked it up before it awoke her parents. "Hello?" she whispered.
"Ichigo?"
"Masaya."
"Was that—?"
"Yeah, I think it was. It couldn't have been anyone else."
"He really loved you, didn't he, Ichigo?"
"Yes."
Sensing her tone, Masaya asked, "Are you okay?"
"It's just that, when someone loves you that much, you don't forget…."
"I know, Ichigo. I know the feeling."
Ichigo smiled, despite herself. "Do you think he's okay, out there?"
"I'm sure of it. He has the Mew Aqua, remember?"
"Yeah. I love you, Masaya."
"I love you, Ichigo."
"I love you, Ichigo," Kish whispered, as the tall grasses around him whished in the wind. Thanks to the Mew Aqua, his world was beautiful now, and there was even a little left over for him to use tonight. But there was one piece of beauty that would always be elusive for him…
"I'll never forget you."
