Chapter 13: What Are We Going To Do?
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!
Mr. Higurashi went up into his room to pack his bag, he really didn't want to leave his family behind. It shattered his heart just thinking about it, but he also knew that if he didn't comply with what the Great Elder wanted that he wouldn't hesitate wiping them from this world. The only reason he was leaving was to protect his family-for them he'd do anything. Even leaving them behind for their safety.
Shoving armfuls of clothes into his suitcase, he went over to his dresser to get his boxers and socks to shove them in his suitcase as well. He sighed and looked over at the family pictures that hung up in his wife's and his room. Tearing up, he walked over to the wall and ran his fingers across his wife's and children's faces. He then took a couple of pictures of their little family and place them in his suitcase as well, he walked into the closet and took a couple of photo albums of pictures of his kids when they were younger and shoved them into his suitcase before zipping it up and turning to walk back down the stairs.
He said one more goodbye to his family and gave them each one more kiss before disappearing through the door and into the night.
Kagome, Kaori and Souta all enveloped each other in a three way hug and sobbed uncontrollably. They had no idea how to help their dad/husband get out of his current predicament.
Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango stood there and watched as the small family broke apart at the seams. Not really knowing what to do or what was going on-their minds were spinning around in circles about just finding out that vampires were not just some made up scary story to keep kids in their beds at night, but actually was a reality and no one even knew they were real.
Quietly clearing her throat Sango took at step forward. "How can we help?"
Kaori gasped as she looked at the teenaged girl in amazed wonderment. "Y-you want to help?"
"Yes, I do. I might not know a lot about vampires, but my family is from the demon slaying community so I have some experiences with fighting the bad guys." Sango explained.
Kagome sniffled and looked at her best friend. "Are you sure Sango? You still want to help us even though I kept my true identity a secret? You're not mad at me? You aren't disgusted that I'm a half-blood? You still want to be around me?"
Sango smiled a sad smile, somehow knowing that Kagome had been through hell before she moved here. "Of course I do! You're my best friend and I want to do what I can to help get your father back home, where he belongs!" She said pulling Kagome into a tight hug. "I could never be disgusted with you and I know why you kept your secret-I understand how hard it is to show who you really are. I went through it with Inuyasha and was willing to wait and help you get there too. I'll always want to be your friend, Kagome, and something like this won't make me hate you. You can't get rid of me that easily."
"I'll help too." Miroku said with a small smile. "I'm taught in the ways of the monks and have spiritual sutras, though, I'm not entirely sure what effect they'll have on vampires, but hey I can always try right? And if that doesn't work, I also know how to fight well enough to take out a few of those bastards."
"You want to help, too Miroku?" Kagome asked in disbelief.
"Of course, Kagome, like Sango said; you are our friend now and we will do whatever it takes to help in anyway we can."
"Hell, I guess I'll help too." Inuyasha huffed out. "I have fighting skills too-as well as a demon sword that can take out one-hundred demons at once. Vampires can't be much different once it comes to my sword, and I have some family members that might help out-I'll talk to them about your situation."
Kaori and Kagome both felt tears well up in their eyes. "Thank you so much for offering your help! I don't know how I can repay you for your generosity!" Kaori gave them a watery smile walking over to Kagome's friends and opening up her arms for a hug.
"You don't have to give us anything in return, we want to help." Sango said as she accepted the hug that Kaori offered her.
Kaori smiled as she motioned for the guys to join in the hug as well and smiled when they wrapped their arms around the two women.
"Since you all are helping, I need to tell you all my story. Inuyasha could you go ahead and call your family and see if they want to help? And if they do tell them to come here, I want everyone who is helping to know my story." Kagome said.
Inuyasha nodded and took his phone out of his pocket to make some calls.
"Are you sure you're ready to tell us your story, Kagome?" Sango asked with concern.
"No, I'm not, but I have no choice-you need to know before we do this. I need to tell you all the truth and the events that happened before we moved here."
Sango looked like she was going to argue some more, but saw the determined look on Kagome's face, sighed and nodded.
Please review! Until next time, bye!
