Chapter 17: Friday Evening.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha
Kagome got into fighting stance, staring at her opponent across from her with a cocky glare.
Sesshomaru sent her his own cocky look as he got into his stance and Kagome's mom counted to three before bringing her arm down in a chopping motion.
Kagome disappeared from Sesshomaru's view and he looked around trying to find her when he felt his legs being kicked from under him and he landed on his back with a oomf. He looked up and a smiling Kagome as she rested her foot on his chest.
Inuyasha busted out laughing. "What's wrong Sesshomaru? Are you really going to let her get the best of you?"
Sesshomaru nudged Kagome's foot of his chest so he could get back on his feet and into stance, he sent Inuyasha an icy glare as he waited for the countdown.
Once he heard three being called out Sesshomaru took off running as fast as he could and before Kagome could move out of the way he had his hand wrapped around her throat slamming her against a tree. He sent her a cocky half grin as he let her throat go and stepped aside so she could push herself off of the tree.
Kagome spent time battling all of the people there, spending more time with those who needed fighting lessons and those who just couldn't get the best of her. She didn't mind, however, she'd teach all of them if it meant that she could get her father back home where he belonged.
Match after match, day after day, week after week passed by until a month later everyone could beat all three vampires against just the one of them. It wasn't easy, but they felt confident enough to finally try to take back what rightfully belonged to them.
The date was set to go retrieve Kagome's father for a week from now as they fixed every hole in their plan and practiced more with the fighting part of the plan.
It was Friday evening and usually, at this time, they would be at the beach and surfing. As the thought passed Kagome's head she sighed, she missed the beach and wish they could go back-they hadn't went at all the passed month opting to practice and get better at fighting. This Friday evening they were standing right outside the very same coven that kicked them out not to long ago and now held her father captive inside the walls.
As they stood there, trying to see the best way to get in and take what they came for and get out, the wind wiped their hair all around them as they stared at the guards at each entrance.
Kagome squinted her eyes looking for any possible route to enter the coven and cursed under her breath-how the hell were they suppose to get in? It was obvious that Naraku expected something like this to happen, he has never guarded the place before. I goes to show that he was scared and didn't want his prize possession to be taken from him.
"Look." Inuyasha whispered pointing at something. "There's a window open right there where on one is guarding."
Everyone looked. "A trap?" Taisho whispered.
"Maybe, but what else can we do but fall into a trap? There is no other way in." Sesshomaru whispered back.
Kagome chewed on her lip as she thought about it. "Okay, we are going to take the bait and go through the window. If it's a trap then we will cross that bridge when we get there."
Everyone nodded as the silently slipped out of the bushes they were hiding in and crept as slowly and carefully as they could. Reaching the wall with the opened window Kagome peered in the dark room and saw no one there.
"They must've forgotten this window was open." Kagome whispered as she carefully pried the screen of the window off as quietly as she could. "Be careful when you climb through there's stuff everywhere and if you knock it over they will surely hear it." She explained as she slipped through the window and moved things around as well as she could. The room appeared to be some kind of storage room and it was packed full of heavy boxes.
Kagome stood back and watched as person after person made their was through the window and once they were all in they made their way through the maze of stacked boxes toward what they hoped to be a door. They could barely see anything, but as Kagome felt her way along the wall for the door knob she silently exhaled a noise of victory as she slowly turned the door knob and cracked the door. She peered out into the hallway with her breath stuck in her throat and her heart trying to escape her chest. This was by far the scariest thing she did in her whole life. As she looked up and down the hall she saw that it was clear and opened the door the rest of the way.
She motioned for the others to come out into the hallway as she tried to thing on which way to go. She came up with a plan, but she didn't know if anyone was going to like it.
"Okay this is what we are going to do." Kagome whispered. "We are going to split into two teams and split up so we can cover more ground faster and get out of here quickly with what we came for."
Everyone exchanged worried glances-they were stronger together as one, but what Kagome said made since so Taisho stepped forward and nodded towards Kagome. He, as well as everyone else, knew a good idea when he heard one-doesn't mean that he had to like it, though.
Kagome separated everyone into the two groups. One group had her, Inuyasha, Kaori, Izyoi, Sesshomaru and about ten of the men that Taisho was able to gather up. Group two had Sango, Miroku, Taisho and Souta and the ten or so men that was left after Kagome took ten out.
Kagome's group when right while Taisho's group went left. Kagome prayed with all her might that what she did was a good idea. She prayed that she was able to get her father out of here with no casualties of the people who agreed to help them. She knew the guilt would eat her alive if anyone on their side were to die-it would be all her fault because she's the one who begged for their help.
Taking a deep breath and banishing those type of thought into a drawer in her mind and locking it up tight-it would do her no good thinking about the possible outcomes right now, they would only distract her and she couldn't have that. She had a mission and she be damned if she was going to fail it.
Please review! Until next time, bye!
