A/N; Special thanks to the pa-atreon family for making this possible. You guys rock. The next ten chapters are already available on my pa-atreon. Feel free to take a look if you want to read the chapters early and are interested in supporting my writing. The username is the same as the one I use here. Thank you.
Let's get into it.
The clearing erupted into chaos at some unseen signal. Broly was moving in and out of the shadows. Wherever he went, blood flowed. Igneel was slower but no less methodical in his bloodlust. He clawed out an unfortunate Houndour's throat and dove under the jumping tackle of another before disembowelling it. Igneel had started battle training just two weeks ago, but he had made tremendous progress.
Broly was my most skilled fighter and he showed that in his art. Kisame's job was perhaps the most important; keeping me safe and preventing the Houndours from using their superior numbers to bury Broly and Igneel. She spat out hydro pumps at impressive speeds that crushed bones on impact.
In battle, every pokemon held back just a bit. They were trying to win not necessarily kill, even though accidents happened on occasion. Here, my pokemon were trying to kill so their power was fully unrestrained. I longed to release Quicksilver to get into the night but even as large as this clearing was, it wasn't enough to allow a flying type as large as him free reign.
The Houndours seemed to have been part of an exceptionally large pack. Whenever Broly or Igneel beat one, two would take their place. Broly and Igneel were being slowly worn down. That's when it happened. One of the hounds finally made it through Igneel's guard and tore a bloody gash into his side. He screamed in pain, and I felt it in my very soul. While he was distracted, another one clawed into his back. This time, I screamed in pain. I didn't understand what the fuck was going on.
I felt Igneel's pain. I felt his rage. I felt his need to make everything burn. I felt him evolve. He was enveloped in a bright light and came out with claws wrapped around a Houndour's neck. He snapped it like a twig. I got a good look at him and almost gaped. Before evolution, he was around waist height but now, he looked like he'd be able to comfortable reach my chest. He'd also gotten much more muscular. He was thick and beefy. His scales also looked even shinier. His face though, his face showed nothing but rage.
He went on from houndour to houndour in a dans macabre. Eventually, the Houndour just avoided him and started to slink back. I breathed my sigh of relief a little too soon though, because they weren't retreating. They were making space.
A massive houndoom came out of the darkness with eyes fixed on Broly. It was clear to see that this was the leader of the pack. Every single one of the fire hounds deferred to this one.
"Igneel, be cautious. This one is strong. Use mega punch whenever you can". He did nothing to show that he understood my request but when the Houndoom dove at him, his hand glowed in the tell tale white of a mega punch before he buried it in its side.
The houndoom was undoubtedly stronger than the rest but he was no match for my newly evolved Charmaleon. After that battle ended with a dead alpha, the rest of the houndoom pack ran off into the woods. They'd finally figured out that we weren't the prey they thought we were.
My team remained on high alert for quite a while before we allowed ourselves to relax. I packed up the camp and released Quicksilver to ferry me to a more lightly wooded area where we'd spend the rest of the night. We continued our training regimen as best we could. We now slept in shifts, so someone was always awake to keep watch.
The gain from that whole mess was Igneel's evolution. His evolution allowed him to join in the battle royales between my other pokemon. He was still obviously the weakest, but the gap was no longer as large as it used to be.
After the last week of what I'd liked to call our training montage, we moved on to the next stage of the regiment. Hunting wild pokemon. The Safari zone was a hot bed of pokemon. What we would be doing for the rest of his month was training during the day and then heading out into the various habitats to challenge wild pokemon.
The first day, after our usual training drills, I hopped on Quicksilver and headed to the hilly zone. I came across a powerful magneton that provided a good challenge for Igneel. The battle wasn't a long one and Igneel felt up to another challenge so went further into the hill and challenged a Graveler. The battle was tougher than the last one, but Igneel still managed to pull out a win.
I chose to continue further into the hill and somehow avoided running into another pokemon. I went into the hill itself and right on the wall to the first cavern, I noticed something. I had Igneel dig through with metal claw to extract it. It was black augurite. At least I thought it was.
I released Broly to make sure of it. I had already told Broly of his possible evolutions and the effects of that. I informed him that I felt like the rock in Igneel's hands was a piece of black augurite and I asked him if he was interested in evolving into a Kleavor. His excited nods settled my doubts.
I had Igneel pass the augurite to Broly and right when he wrapped his hands around it, he erupted in white light. I was right! My starter was evolving. I was beyond joyous when my brand new Kleavor came out of the white light. He was much taller, about my height. His colouration had also changed. He'd gone from a bright green to a warm brown. His arm blades had become a pair of stone axes, each larger than my head. They looked fearsome. After seeing all that my eyes went to the one thing that had me hesitant to evolve him.
His wings were gone. He was now a rock/bug type. He'd lost the flying type specification he'd enjoyed and probably access to most of his moves. He felt it would be worth it though and I agreed with him. The sheer power difference between the two forms would more than make up for the loss of moves.
My focus on Broly's evolution died out when I felt the effects of an earthquake. It felt like the cavern was going to collapse on our heads, so we booked it as soon as the quaking stopped and seemed to have somehow come out of a different entrance because of what we saw right in front of us. Three titans were engaged in a battle for the history books. It was a two-on-one. Two Aggrons against a single Tyranitar. The Tyranitar was putting up a great fight. If it was one-on-one, I had no doubt it would defeat either of them handily. In a two-on-one though, it was only a matter of time.
The Tyranitar hit one of the aggrons with a hammer arm while the other one rushed him with its horns. He was sent flying back, causing another earthquake. He got up as quickly as he went down and charged a large hyper beam between its arms that both Aggrons countered with twin flash canons. That impact sent spots dancing in my vision.
The three pokemon continued to fight before one of the aggrons managed to capture both of the tyranitars hands behind its back and the other one wailed on the tyranitar. I thought the battle was over till the tyranitar used his head to deliver a direct headbut to the one attacking it. The dark type energy that swirled with the impact was a sign that the pokemon had used the move, bide to increase the impact.
The headbut caused a large crack to resound across the valley. The Aggron went down and didn't get back up. This seemed to have distracted the one holding the tyranitar down because it was able to get one of its arms free and lash out with another hammer arm. Both pokemon began to tear into each other with a savage ferocity that ended when the Aggron managed to stab both its horns into its opponent's chest. The tyranitar didn't go quietly into the night. It's roars and death throes echoed across the valley we found ourselves in.
The sheer pain and sorrow in its voice almost brought tears to my eyes. It died with its eyes on something to my left. I followed it and was surprised to be met with the sight of a young Larvitar. The baby pokemon must have been the offspring of the now dead Tyranitar. The Aggron took it's horns out of the dead pokemon's body and turned around to advance on the baby Larvitar. The look on its face didn't leave much room for guessing what its intentions were.
I couldn't allow that happen. Even if I didn't want the Larvitar on my team, allowing a baby pokemon die in such a manner would be beyond me. I instructed Broly to dispatch of the tired and injured Aggron and he did it in such a quick and casual manner that I was even more confident in my decision to evolve him.
He jumped from our slightly elevated position and landed in front of the Aggron. He stretched out one of his arms out towards the aggron in a universal gesture to stop. The steel type didn't even acknowledge the request. It simply bent its horns to charge at Broly. Big mistake. My fighter jumped up, twisted around, and sent his axe-arm right into the space between its horns. The Aggron went down and didn't get back up. A one hit put down.
Since the Aggron was down, I approached the Larvitar slowly. It looked heartbroken at the death of its parent. I stopped at a distance while trying to come across as harmless as I could. I put my hands out and walked towards the Larvitar.
"Hey buddy, I'm really sorry about your mom. She seemed to have loved you a lot, but we have to leave now. That battle might have drawn other pokemon towards this place" I was lying through my teeth. A battle like that would have sent every other pokemon packing. There were very few wild pokemon that would have been able to survive getting in the middle of that, and even fewer that would do it willingly.
"Your mother is gone now. But you don't have to be alone. You can join my family." Broly and Igneel pitched in with their own assurances at that and after he turned and spoke to Broly, he stepped forward. I held out a pokeball and he pressed himself against it and was captured instantly.
I released Quicksilver and returned both Broly and Igneel at that. We made our way to camp, and I started preparing dinner. The Larvitar seemed to enjoy his meal and I resolved to give him a name tomorrow.
A/N; Two evolutions and a new capture in one chapter. That's a lot. The team is growing well though and our boy just got his first pseudo-legendary.
