"Have we found the right tree yet, Bugaboo? My toes are cold," Cat Noir told his partner, Ladybug. Ladybug giggled. "You can't rush these things, Cat. Hey, come here."

Cat watched her breath into her palms then took his hands in hers. Rubbing them together, Cat slowly began to warm up. "Better?" she asked softly. "Everything is better when I'm with you."

Ladybug felt her face warm. "I-ah, lets keep looking."

It was so pretty out, the sky a special shade of blue, like it had been painted straight from a master painter's brush.

"Let's stop and rest a minute," Ladybug said. Turning off the path, they walked into a little shelter. Its cozy in here, Cat thought, looking out. Her noticed Ladybug itching closer. He smiled at her. "I don't bite, Bugaboo." Ladybug laid her head on his shoulder, tucking her arm through his. "Your the best friend a girl could have."

Cat stared at her, suspiciously. "Did you drink your hot chocolate too fast?" "No. I don't say it enough, how special you are to me."

They stared out at the falling snow. Where would I be with Ladybug, without my miraculous? He wondered. Probably stuck at home, wishing to play in the snow. Hmm….

"Would you like to build a snowman?" Cat asked her. "Have you been watching Frozen again? We just watched it last week!"

Ladybug had a secret apartment that she shared with Cat beneath the sewers. Both of them still lived at home, but it was nice to have a place for themselves. "Besides, what about the tree?" she asked. Cat was already out the door. Ladybug sighed and followed him.

The snow was deep and soft. She picked up a handful. "It reminds me of feathers," she said, letting it slide through her fingers. "Ugh. I'm a allergic to feathers, remember?" "Well, I did give Mr. Ramier a magical charm, but lets stay way from pigeons."

"Its not all birds," Cat explained as he helped her roll the first ball. "I sit on Marinette's balcony watching the birds while she does her sewing."

"I heard the reason is you play with her yarn ball," Ladybug grinned. "Hey, I'm a cat. That's like telling a mouse not eat cheese," he said. He looked around for some sticks and stones while Ladybug rolled the second ball.

He dropped them in the snow when he saw she was struggling to put on the second layer. "On three. One, two three!" Together, they hefted the second ball up, "Thanks, Kitty." Cat put the stick in, while Ladybug found some rocks to make his eyes and smile.

"He looks pretty good," Cat said as he admired their work. "Look at that sunset!" Ladybug pointed to the sky. Red and purple singed the sky, making it look like a campfire. "If we would have give up because we were cold, we may not have made the snowman and seen the sky."

"I told you, everything's better with you. Now, lets find that tree!" Taking Ladybug's hand, Cat walked back onto the path. "You look right, I'll look left," he said.

"Are you sure there's not a akuma around?" Ladybug teased. Wow, she must be feeling happy. She doesn't joke around with that often, Cat thought.

Suddenly, up ahead, Cat saw the perfect tree. It had snowed earlier giving the tree a white frosty look. As they got closer, it shimmered and glittered in the light from the setting sun.

"Oh, Cat. Its perfect! Exactly the right one!"

Christmas would be extra special this year, getting to spend both of her Christmas's with Cat. "Look, its already decorated too," Ladybug said.

Chirp! They both turned around to see some small birds hiding in one of the nearby trees. Ladybug adjusted the Santa hat on her head. "Oh, you poor birds! Are you hungry?"

Ladybug tossed her magical yo-yo into the air. "Lucky Charm!" A small bag of birdseed dropped into her arms. She laughed. "Are we lucky or what?" Both she and Cat spread birdseed on the ground. "Achoo! Can I do my Cataclysm now? I love birds, but feathers…" he grinned at her.

"Wait, Kitty, before you do…" Ladybug stepped forward, grabbing the ends of his blue scarf that she (as Marinette had made for him) she kissed his chilled cheek, surprising him.

"Thank you for everything today," she said, as they dragged the tree toward the shelter. They were both looking forward to some hot chocolate, then decorating the tree together.

"Today explains why we make a great duo," Cat said. "We encourage each other. If we would have given up we wouldn't have made the snowman or feed the birds," Cat said. "Or found the perfect tree. That's why I'm always talking about great commutation skills."

"The more time we spend together, they better we get," Cat said, putting his arm around her. It was such a happy day getting to spend time with her. Even if he didn't know her identity, there was a pretty and playful girl under the mask.

They rented a sled to get the tree home. It was dark by the time they got there, and Ladybug had to get home. Storing the tree in a safe location, Ladybug walked back over to Cat.

"This Christmas feels different somehow," she said. Cat could agree to that. Under the mask at this time of year, he desperately wanted his Mother to return home.

But then he realized that even though she wasn't here, they could make different traditions, like finding the perfect tree. Also, with his M'lady at his side, his heart was happy.

He didn't need any presents. No, what Cat wanted couldn't be wrapped. Love was on top of the list. Spending more and more time with his Lady and his Princess, his Marinette was slowly healing his heart.

What would he get Bugaboo for Christmas? Maybe, what they had done today was what she wanted. To be able to laugh and have fun. She enjoyed his company after all.

Cat walked home through the snow, a happy grin on his face. It might be the best Christmas yet!
