Chapter 4

Annabeth's POV

I pulled up to the address Percy had given me as to where Bianca may have gone. It was a machine shop with the words 'Leo and Calypso's Garage, Auto Repair and Mechanical Monsters'. I guess she had gone to help out Leo. When I walked inside I immediately recoiled. The room was really hot. There were 3 cars in the workshop. The hood popped open on one and a man was leaning over it. Holding a welding torch. I walked closer to him and he. Stopped suddenly. He stood up fully and I was face to face with Leo. more accurately face to nose. No, Leo wasn't still short. I was the short one. Leo was 6 ft tall, he was still lanky, but he had a bit of muscle now. He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Annabeth?" He said

"Leo, um…" I trailed off. He started walking towards a staircase near the back of the shop. He motioned for me to follow. I walked up the stairs and followed Leo into a small kitchen with bar stools, there were a couple people sitting on the stools who I assumed were customers. He walked through a door labeled 'Staff Only'. There was a small table and at it sat Bianca and a girl about a year younger than her. Bianca was holding a calculator and showing the girl how to do some sort of math equation. Bianca and The younger girl looked up at me.

"Hello, I don't believe we've met. I'm Esperanza." The younger girl said.

"Hi, I'm Annabeth." On hearing my name her face contorted into a tight lipped smile.

"Um, Percy said-" I started

"You know, I think you can handle the rest of the problems, you did really well today Ezzie. I got to go to the ice rink now. See you later." Bianca said. She said a quick goodbye to Leo and left. I sighed.

"What did you do Annabeth?" Leo said to me.

"I-She-I don't know how to explain."

"Well how about you start at the beginning. Nobody has seen you in 12 years. Then you come walking into my shop looking for Bianca. I think you owe me an explanation. Also why didn't you contact anyone?" Leo said, he sounded hurt. Just hearing the hurt in his voice mad me feel even worse.

"Because I didn't want to face Percy." I confessed

"Jeez, the 'Fall into Tartarus with each other didn't want to talk to each other?" Leo said with a smirk. I scowled at him and punched him in the arm.

"Annabeth!" He whined.

"Annabeth!" Someone screamed. I was engorged in a hug and almost knocked over. Another person joined the hug. When they let go of me I was looking at Hazel and Piper. Piper was gorgeous as ever, her long brown hair pulled up into an elegant bun. Hazel was really pretty too. She was about 5'6 and her curly brown hair was straightened. They both looked like Supermodels.

"Annabeth! I haven't seen you in forever! Where have you been?!" Piper said angrily

"I was in NYC. I had some problems with Percy." I answered truthfully. I had stayed in NYC, I was just well hidden.

"You need to tell me everything!" Piper exclaimed.

With a sigh, I started telling Piper what had happened to me over the last 12 years I hadn't seen her.
