April 1950.

We were about to move. It was about time for us to meet the Cullens, and Alice didn't let us take any extra minute. She insisted we pack up everything we need a week in advance, her clothes and favorite things were neatly folded and placed in moving boxes. The moving company came knocking on our door earlier this morning. Since we didn't know the exact address of our destination, I informed the men that I'll give a call to their company in a few days when they reach Indiana. The movers were under the impression that we were taking a flight, and I wasn't planning to tell them about the actual means of traveling that we were planning to use. Alice's newer vision of the Cullens gave us a closer look at where we were supposed to be going. Our new home would be a small town of Morgantown, a few miles away from Indianapolis in the Southern part of Indiana. We knew our new house would be somewhere in the woods, surrounded by rivers, creeks, bushes, and trees. Just the way I liked it. Alice shared the drawings of the place that she saw in her visions with us, so we knew what we were looking for.

It was hard saying goodbye to our little house. I really enjoyed the peace and comfort that it gave me. I was upset about my flowers that, unfortunately, I had to leave them behind. I would miss the nights of reading or talking with my siblings. The peace and quiet would be missed, but the new adventure starts now. Alice promised that the future holds something great for all three of us, and I really hoped it meant that I would get a chance to attend school again. My sister refused to give me any further details about her visions.

Speaking about new beginnings, a few weeks ago Tanya called to check up on us, make sure we are ready and haven't changed our minds.

"You now have two new members in your coven who really need attention as they're trying to adjust to the diet." I reminded her, but she refused to listen.

"There are three of you that are joining Carlisle's family, and you only sent me two, that means you still owe me one more vampire for a replace." She said and a few minutes later added, "it would be much appreciated if this time you send me a mate as well."

"Maybe if you weren't so greedy, one of them would have been your soulmate and not your sisters'" I answered her.

"Ah! Isabella! You are so mean!" Tanya replied. "If I had anyone else in the house who was single, I would hang up right this moment!"

"Too bad you are the only single one who is left." I mocked.

"Well, except for you, of course. And Edward." She added.

"He is one of Carlisle's children, right?" I asked making sure.

"Correct, we are the only three bachelors left. One from each vegetarian coven." She sighed. "Maybe it's a curse."

"I wouldn't pick you for one who believes in such a thing."

"And I don't, but the circumstances and the amount of screaming that I hear in this house definitely sound exactly like a curse."

"How about you visit us when we join the Cullens? We will go out, you can enjoy your peace and quiet, as well as some warmer weather for a change." I offered and she agreed. That was the end of our conversation, and we haven't spoken after because of Alice's premonitions and constant rambling about what will happen when we get to Morgantown.

It was quite a journey that we would have to make. About 16 hours non-stop running, as my sister was certain we had to be in the Morgantown region at sunrise. Jasper would listen and obey every word that my sister said. He still hasn't proposed but had a good reason. With Alice's visions, he wasn't planning the proposal fully, trying to keep a secret from the psychic. I thought it was very romantic of him, my sister, I was sure, has not yet been surprised in this life, and I wasn't about to ruin it, so my thoughts about their wedding were shut behind a door with a huge lock on it.

"Please tell me you're ready. We can't wait any longer." She insisted.

"I'm ready, let me just lock up the house, and we'll go."

"Finally! Jazz! We're moving." Alice ran out the door to wait for us in the driveway.

"She is a frightening little monster." Jasper sighed walking out of the bedroom.

"Don't pretend like you are not loving her enthusiastic character, brother." I laughed.

"It is pretty charming." He smiled.

We both walked outside, and I locked the door. Maybe, one day, I will visit this place again. I gave the house one last glance and said goodbye to it in my head. We started running immediately, as I didn't want to upset Alice. During the journey, we would have to cross South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. It was decided that we could hunt in Indiana, right before we introduce ourselves to the Cullens, so our eyes could tell them before the words do, that we are joining their family.

All forests and backroads looked like they were frozen in time. Not a single soul in sight, which was good, obviously. Animals were hiding away, which was not surprising as we didn't exactly move quietly this time. The trees were just starting to get the snow off them, and the more south we were running, the more blooms were appearing on trees. Magnificent. The warmth radiating from the sun was warming the temperature even behind the clouds. Alice said it would start getting a lot warmer in Indiana in the next couple of days, as well as less cloudy, which might be a problem for when we'll have to meet our movers.

We reached Indiana when the sky started turning blue, but no sun was yet showing. A beautiful time of day, as we ran through thick grass, I could feel my shoes and ankles getting wetter due to the morning dew. According to Alice we only had an hour before we meet the Cullens, and so far, we were moving within her timelines. I started feeling anxious, which irritated me as I was never anxious. The newborn wars completely got rid of that part of my personality, or so I thought. When I was young, I remember feeling anxious and nervous around new people, new situations, unfamiliarity scared me. I used to blush all the time, excuse myself from a big group gathering, not even mentioning the fact that I also had two left feet. All of that changed after my transformation and my time in the South.

Alice mentioned it would be time for us to start hunting, just a quick meal, no fine dining, we didn't have time for that. I motioned my head to the left, telling my siblings I was going in that direction. I saw two heads nod at the same time and ran towards the South. My thoughts went straight to hunting, as my sister mentioned, I was not searching for a particular animal, anything would do. I smelled a deer a few miles away from myself and increased my speed. A second later, I already heard the noises that the animal was making. My thoughts were only on the creature and the overpowering smell of blood.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, I was tackled to the ground. I found myself laying on the floor, with something very heavy on top of me, as I couldn't shake it off.

"Who are you? This land is claimed." A beautiful voice said, and I stopped moving. I was scared and fascinated by the sound the man was making.

"I come in peace, please, my name is Bella, can we talk?" was a question I wanted to ask, but was interrupted, as the weight was no longer on me.

"Take your hands away from my sister!" Jasper was right next to me in a half-crutch ready to attack again if needed.

The unknown man was standing a few feet away now, he was analyzing my brother's face very thoroughly, and then he looked at me dazzled. I put my shield on both Jazz and me, and the man's face became even more confused as he looked at Jasper again. So he does have a gift, and I am blocking it. Suck it, stranger.

The stranger, I found, was extremely attractive. His facial features were perfect and angular; high cheekbones, a strong jawline, perfect eyebrows, a straight nose, and full lips. His untidy hair was an unusual bronze shade. His eyes were dark, close to onyx black, and purple bruise-like shadows were beneath his eyes. The man was hungry. He looked as tall as Jasper, maybe a little shorter, considering I was looking up from the ground and had a thin and lanky but muscular body. He looked similar to the mythical Greek god, Adonis.

"Are you always this aggressive with strangers or did we catch you on a bad day?" I chuckled.

"Who are you?" he repeated, and I saw my sister coming out from the forest, I pulled the shield over her immediately.

"I am Alice, that's Jasper and Bella. We are going to join your family, but I can't seem to pinpoint your house. Edward, do you mind showing us the way?" He is one of the Cullens, what a nice way of meeting a new family member. "Bella, take off your shield, how else is he supposed to know if we are telling the truth or not?"

"How do you know my name? What does it mean you are joining the family? A shield?" Edward shooting questions at us.

"All later, after you show the way to the house. Oh, I think I'll take your room, it looks way nicer than the guest ones that you have." Alice kept talking. "And don't say it, I know you are not fond of the lavender paint, so it won't be a problem for you to switch rooms. We are going to be good friends, Edward. One day I will be the closest sibling that you have. Oh, it is going to be wonderful. Esme will be a little surprised at first, and Rosalie won't talk to us for the first few weeks, but she'll warm-up. You know she is a very good person inside, I mean, of course, you know, you can read her thoughts." Alice took Edward's hand in hers and started walking back into the Morgantown region. He looked so confused and was probably in shock. I knew Alice could talk her way out of everything, and both Jazz and I were used to it, but for the Cullen man it was all new experience. He was following her without any back thought.

"You were right. She is a frightening little monster." I laughed, and after a moment Jasper did too. He helped me up, and we followed Alice and Edward into the forest. Either my sister convinced him that we are sincerely hoping to join his family, or maybe he understood there is no chance to win a fight where there are three of us and only one of him, anyway, he told us to follow him to the house.

Edward was fast, faster than anyone I've ever known. All three of us couldn't keep up with him.

"Are you trying to prove you're faster than the speed of the sound? Slow down, I can barely see where you're going!" I said, hoping he would be close enough to hear me, as I was not eager to scream. I heard laughter coming from the front of me, and a few moments later I could see his beautiful bronze hair again.

"Is that slow enough for you, Isabella?" Edward asked.

"I hate that name. How did you even know my full name?" I spoke.

"Do you always answer a question with a question?" he laughed again.

"No, do you?" I couldn't keep a smile from rising on my face. Were we flirting? I never had to flirt before. Was I even doing it right?

"We are here." The man said after we stopped a few minutes after.

The house was big and beautiful. Just like the one in the Denali, it had gigantic glass windows that covered most of the front and back of the house. It was made out of dark brown bricks with a few wooden panels around the corners and the roof of the house. The surrounding forest trees looked like they were protecting the house, making a nearly even circle around it. There were flowers in the pots next to the entrance and nicely leveled cut grass across what seems to be the backyard. I couldn't hear anything except for the forest life and a creek. Absolutely magnificent place.

"I think everyone should be home by now, how about you give me a minute to let them know we have guests, and you can walk in," Edward said, and we nodded. He left us, and I looked at Alice.

"Is it going according to your vision?" I asked.

"So far, yes. Nothing is changing." She answered.

"Did you know he was going to attack me in the forest?"

"Yes." She smiled.

"Okay, did you want him to attack me in the forest?" I asked confused.

"Yes." Her smile grew even wider.

"Can I ask why?"

"You can ask, but I won't tell you, sister. Besides, we should go inside now."

I shook my head, and all three of us walked inside the house. The first floor was all in pastel colors, I haven't seen this much white leather anywhere. It looked neat and tidy; one might mistake it for an office waiting for an area; however, with old pictures of its inhabitants and paintings on the wall, it also felt like a loving home. Five people were standing next to each other in the room. The one closer to us looked like a model. He had collar-length blond hair, was a little shorter than Jasper, with a well-toned medium frame, gentle eyes, and didn't look older than 23. He was slight but muscular and had a slight English accent when he invited us in. If Edward looked like Adonis, that man looked like Zeus's younger better-looking brother. Behind him, there was a beautiful woman, she reminded me of the ingenues of the silent-movie era, it felt as though I was meeting a fairy tale Snow White, in the flesh: a heart-shaped face with a warm compassionate look, billows of soft caramel-colored hair, delicate eyebrows, and a small, slender figure that was less angular and more rounded compared to the rest of her family. There were two others, standing further behind holding hands. The man was very tall, standing at not less than 6'5", he was the tallest person in the room, towering over my sister by nearly two feet. He was very burly and rather intimidating. He was handsome, not like Edward or the first man, who I assumed to be Carlisle, but nonetheless, with dimples and slightly curly, dark brown hair that almost looked black, his appearance gave him a childish look not often seen in a grown man. The last woman was tall and statuesque. She had a beautiful figure, the kind one sees on the cover of women's fashion magazines, the kind that made every girl around her take a hit on her self-esteem just by being in the same room. Her hair was golden, gently waving to the middle of her back, the color suited the golden eyes.

"Hello, my name is Carlisle Cullen, this is my family: my wife Esme, my sons Emmett and Edward, and my daughter Rosalie."

"I'm Bella, and this is my brother Jasper and my sister Alice," I responded.

"Edward tells me you are joining the family." Carlisle smiled at us.

"Yes, sir," Alice spoke. "See, I have these visions of the future, and it was decided a long time ago that we would be a part of your family."

"Vision of the future?" the bulky guy, Emmett, asked. "Awesome!"

The blond one, Rosalie, rolled her eyes. Carlisle searched our faces and turned his head to Edward, who was now leaning on the door frame and shaking his head.

"Carlisle, why don't we invite our friends into the living room, so we can all talk," Esme said.

"Oh, yes, of course. Please come inside." Carlisle gestured to the back of the house. We followed him and took our seats around the table. "Why don't you tell us everything from the beginning?"

We told the leader of the Cullens our stories, as well as explained Alice's gift. He wasn't the only one surprised at the former. All five of them were looking at Alice, even the blonde one, Rosalie, seemed to find it interesting.

"It is your turn; I want to know everything!" Alice squeaked.

"I was the son of an Anglican pastor, born sometime in 1640 in London, during a time of religious and political upheaval. My mother died giving birth to me, father and other pastors led hunts for werewolves, witches, and vampires, claiming that they were attempting to rid the world of evil and sin. Many a time, however, these groups would end up killing innocent citizens. As my father aged, I took over the raids. I was less at ease about killing as my father was but was intelligent enough to find a real coven of vampires inhabiting the sewers of London. I led the hunt after them, and in the chaos that ensued, was attacked and left bleeding in the street by one of them. Knowing what my father would do, I hid in a potato cellar for transformation, emerging three days later as a vampire. I was repelled and horrified by what I had become and tried various ways of killing myself, starvation, drowning, and jumping off cliffs, nothing worked. Eventually, I was so desperate for blood that while I was hiding in a cave in a forest attacked and fed on a herd of passing deer. I found that one like myself could survive off animal blood and considered this much more humane than drinking the blood of a human, thereby killing them. I found new life in this fact and over the course of about two centuries was able to perfect the ability to resist the bloodlust caused by the scent of human blood. During these two centuries, I studied at night. As a result of this meticulous studying, I was able to become a doctor. I was studying in Italy when stumbled across the Volturi." Why does this name have to come up with every vampire we meet? Is there anyone in the world who has never interacted with the Italians? "They were much more educated and refined than those living in the sewers of London, but still lived on human blood. After living with the Volturi for two decades, I moved on to the New World, where became a doctor and used my skills to help people. I was the one who turned my wife and all my children. Edward in 1918, Esme in 1921, Rose in 1933, and Emmett in 1935." Carlisle finished. "If anyone else would like to share their stories, it's up to you."

Esme turned her head towards us and started speaking. "I was born in 1895, grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Columbus, Ohio. At the age of 16, I fell out of a tree and broke my leg. Since the local doctor was out of town, I was treated by Carlisle. He moved out of town not long after that, but I never forgot the kind doctor with whom I had gotten along with so well." She switched her eyes to Carlisle, and he squeezed her arm with a small smile on his face. "Initially wanting to move west to become a school teacher, I was pressured by my parents to stay and marry. At the age of 22, in an attempt to please my parents, I married Charles Evenson but soon realized that he was an abusive man. Much to my relief, he was drafted during World War I. I enjoyed a happy period of time while he was away, but when Charles returned in 1919, his abusive persona resurrected." I saw Carlisle's hand twitching at the last sentence.

"Esme, you don't have to continue, if you don't want to," I spoke nearly in a whisper.

"No, it's alright. Sometime after his return, I found out that I was pregnant. Not wanting my child to grow up in such a dangerous environment, I ran away to live with my cousin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To support myself, I became a school teacher, temporarily fulfilling my childhood dream. My son was born in 1921, only to die from lung fever 2 days later. I was devastated and felt that I no longer had any reason to live, as I attempted suicide by jumping off a cliff. When I was found, my condition was so bad, that they didn't even attempt to revive me. I was immediately brought to the morgue, although my heart was still beating faintly. Carlisle was working in the area at the time and recognized me. I regained consciousness in excruciating pain but was happy to see my kind doctor again. He turned me to save my life, and later we fell in love and got married. I got the life I never dreamed about. A wonderful forever with a loving man by my side and my wonderful children."

"Alright, I am next!" Emmet said enthusiastically. I wonder who would be excited and childish, him or my sister. "I was born in 1915 and grew up in the small town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, as part of a large Scotch-Irish family. I worked on the railroad with my older brothers, while my younger 14-year-old sister would help our mother with housework. I was changed into a vampire by Carlisle in 1935, two years after Rosalie Hale had been changed. When Rosie found me, I thought I was being saved by an angel who brought me to God himself. I remember thinking Hell wasn't so bad if I get to keep an angel with me. I still cared for my natural family and knew that I could no longer go back, so I had Edward prepare a bag of fortune in the hope of easing their pain over losing a hardworking son and personally left it on the porch. Hadn't looked back since then. Rosie married me just a couple of years ago, and we are planning another wedding in a few years. Edward, you're up, man."

"I thought Carlisle said it was up to us if we want to tell them or not." A playful smirk appeared on Edward's face.

"That's no fun. You are no fun."

"Emmett, don't push him." Esme scolded.

"I was born on June 20, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois;" Edward started. "The only child of Edward and Elizabeth Masen. My father provided me with many advantages as a successful lawyer, including music lessons and the opportunity to attend private schools. The absence of my father due to his job was made up for by my relationship with my mother; I was the center of her life. I excelled at my studies and became an accomplished pianist. As I grew older, I became enamored with the life of a soldier. World War I raged during most of my adolescence, and I dreamed of joining the army as soon as I turned 18. That changed, however, when my parents and I became sick with the Spanish Influenza in 1918. My father died in the first wave of influenza. My mother later contracted the virus and begged the doctor who was taking care of us, to do everything within his power to save me. Carlisle acted on her wishes when I was near death. I have been considering him my father figure ever since. It was Carlisle who first realized my telepathic abilities; he noticed me answering questions that he had not asked aloud. I had always had a knack for reading people. In 1921, I gained a mother when Carlisle changed Esme into a vampire to save her."

"So, my shield blocks your gift?" I asked.

"Yes. I'll be frank, it really bothers me." He gave me a crooked smile, which I returned.

I noticed that everyone was looking at Rosalie now. Emmett had one arm around her shoulder and was holding her hand with the other one.

"Rosie, do you want to tell yours?" He asked quietly.

"Fine, but I warn you that my story is a little more brutal than those of my siblings." She started. "I was born in Rochester, New York, in early 1915; I had two younger brothers, a housewife for a mother, and my father worked at a bank. His job helped keep the family wealthy during the Great Depression. I was born beautiful and was constantly praised, my parents took pride in my looks, my father bought me beautiful clothes, that my girlfriends' envy, every man admired me as I passed. I was, however, bothered by the superior beauty of the members of the Cullen family: Carlisle, Esme, and Edward, but because I hardly saw them, I did not let that get the better of myself. One day, my mother had me dress up to deliver my father's forgotten lunch to his job, in the hopes that the son of the bank owner would take notice of me, and it worked. Royce King II and I became engaged, not because of love or affection, just for the sake of beauty and wealth. One week before the wedding, I visited my good friend Vera, whom I envied for her baby boy. At one point, Vera's husband kissed her, and I finally noticed the lack of love in my relationship with Royce that was so obvious in Vera's. While walking home, shaken by my thoughts about the loveless relationship, I stumbled across my drunken fiancé and his equally drunk friends. The incident, which I prefer to call it, was the worst thing that happened in my entire life and after that, they left me there to die. Carlisle found me; the scent of blood attracted him to me. He carried her to a room where he turned me into a vampire, worsening the pain I was already in. I soon avenged my death by killing Royce's friends one at a time. Having saved Royce for last, I donned a bridal gown for dramatic effect and found him locked in a windowless room with a thick, vault-like door guarded by two men. Though I did kill seven men, I was very careful to not spill even the smallest drop of their blood, so I'm still clean. Two years after my transformation, in 1935, I stumbled across a young man being mauled by a bear outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Emmett's features reminded me of Vera's young son Henry, and, because of this, I chose to rescue the dying man. I carried him over one hundred miles to Carlisle, who then turned him into a vampire. We were together ever since."

"At least it has a happy ending." Alice smiled at her.

"I wish I didn't remember my human life like you." Rosalie gave her a small smile back.

Carlisle cleared his throat.

"Thank you everyone for sharing. How about we give Bella, Jasper, and Alice some time to check out their new rooms and go to the shower, and we can talk about our future arrangements in the evening?"

"Would someone help me move Edward's thing into a spare bedroom? I'm claiming his room." Alice spoke.

"You are getting kicked out by a pixie?" Emmett laughed.

"Shut it, Em." Edward sighed. "I guess, I'll help."

Everyone left the room, Emmett was still laughing, which made me smile. I turned to Carlisle.

"Thank you for accepting us. I know it must be hard to just let in three strangers into your house." I spoke.

"Nonsense, Bella. You're very welcome. I do hope you feel at home here." He put his hand on my shoulder. "Is Alice always like that?"

"Yeah, you'll get used to it quicker than you think. She can be very charming. A very charming pixie." I laughed.

"Alright. We need someone to keep Emmett company during his super active times. I swear, if I didn't know the kid is a vampire, I would diagnose him with a sugar crush." He smiled.

"Well, now you have two sugar-crushed kids." I smiled back. "Would you mind showing me a spare bedroom? I'm afraid my gift is not as advanced as Alice's, and I'll get lost in the house."

"Of course, follow me." And we both walked upstairs. The new life has begun.
