The General Grievous Chronicles
Chapter 1- The Mission
(25 years B.B.Y.)
"Lord Sidious," General Grievous said, as he bowed low to the robed figure being projected in the large stone hall. For several months now, Grievous was being trained on the Outer Rim world of Geonosis. "Am I finally ready for my first assignment?" the General continued, speaking to the man's holo image.
"Quite ready," the Sith Lord answered, his face hidden in the shadows of the long black robe he wore. "I can see that Lord Tyranus trained you well. General Grievous, you may become a great asset to us. First, you must prove yourself," Sidious said. "We must eliminate several Jedi, those who could cause trouble for us. It will make our plans much easier to have a few select Jedi removed from this galaxy."
"Jedi scum!" Grievous muttered as Sidious continued the briefing.
"Your first target, General, is a Jedi Knight," the Sith Lord's image shimmered for a moment, indicating Sidious was talking to him using long-range communications. "Interesting," the newly turned cyborg General thought. "Sidious must be a great distance from the Outer Rim. But where else could a Sith Lord hide?"
"This Jedi, Sorto Mas'se, could become a threat to our plans," Sidious proceeded, bringing up a picture of a Twi'lek male in Jedi robes, about twenty standard years old. "He has risen to the rank of Knight very quickly. You will find him on Toydaria, attempting to negotiate a treaty between the Toydarians and the Republic," said Sidious, his face once again replacing the Twi'leks. "You will leave immediately. Find this new threat, and destroy him. Do not fail me, General Grievous," said the Sith, as the image faded again before blinking out completely.
Grievous stared at the holoprojector for several moments before he realized his master's image had faded. The half of the organic heart that was left in his plastoid armored chest was still pounding as if he had run a great distance. This was only the second time he'd ever spoken to Sidious, and the cyborg General sure hoped it would be the last.
