"You know son, I'm surprised you didn't enlist as a fighter. With all your progress, you would have made it to the finals!" Dad tells me.
"I know. I just want to hangout with my friends this time." We were walking alongside Master Roshi, Turtle, Launch (in her blonde form), Puar, Oolong, Yamcha, and Krillin
"And learn some new techniques?" I hear Master Roshi say.
I playfully pout in response. "You can't prove that!" which causes the gang to laugh.
"Well, well. Look at what we have here. The Turtle school."
We turn our heads to see three strange people. They were wearing green changshan with yellow sleeves and red lining. On the chests were characters that displayed the word "tsuru".
One was a short person (almost Krillin's size) who had pure white skin, red cheeks and a hat with a red ball on top. He looked like one of the Jiang Shi (Chinese vampires).
Another was a tall young man with the same hat, and possessed a third eye on his forehead.
In the middle was an old man, with a mustache, wearing sunglasses, and had medium-length blue-gray hair swept upwards (which looked like a bird's wings), and wearing a crane hat.
This was Master Shen the Crane Hermit, alongside Chiaotzu and Tien Shinhan.
"Shen…" Master Roshi says.
"You know these guys, Master Roshi?" I hear Krillin question the Master.
"This is Shen, the Crane Hermit. And his school. Our rivals." Roshi states which surprises the rest.
"Rivals eh? Don't flatter yourself Roshi. The Crane School is the only martial arts school worth talking about. My boys will be entering the tournament." Shen cockily says.
I step forward, knowing how this will probably go.
"So, you're a hermit? You must have all sorts of knowledge on fighting. I'm Kachoba from the Turtle School. Shame I'm not participating against your students."
"Yes. What a shame it is that you won't experience the might of the Crane School for yourself. Perhaps you will consider studying under me after the tournament is over." He responds haughtily.
"As tempting as that sounds, I don't feel like betraying my friends just to become an assassin." I say with conviction.
"Pity. Let's go boys." the Hermit says as the trio leaves.
"Hey!" I hear the voice of the Saiyan from Earth.
Footsteps approach us as we look to see Goku (who was barefoot and wearing tiger furs) waving.
"Goku!" the gang shouts.
As he arrives, Roshi goes to enter Goku into the tournament.
The boy tells us how he SWAM all the way here to Papaya Island from Yahhoy.
The others were shocked at how he did such a thing.
"Hey, Kachoba. Are you competing?" Goku asks me.
"Nope."
"But you did so well last time!" he shouts in surprise.
"He just wants to spend some time with his old man." Dad says.
"Just know this Goku. I won't lose to you next time." I declare with determination.
"I'll be waiting for it!" he responds with a grin.
Meanwhile
The tournament goes like it did in canon. Tien breaks Yamcha's leg, Jackie Chun helps Man-Wolf become normal again thanks to an illusion using Krillin's head, Tien wins against Jackie, Krillin and Goku have their first real fight (with Goku as the victor), and Tien is up against Goku.
Chiaotzu has Goku immobilized using his psychic powers only for Tien to tell him to stop.
"I don't want to kill Goku! I will not be disqualified!" the triclops states.
"What! Who cares about the stupid match!? Kill him Tien!" Shen orders.
"No! I won't do it!" Tien barks back.
Gritting his teeth, Shen orders for Chiaotzu to paralyze Goku and Tien.
"I'm sorry Master Shen. I'll do anything you ask but I can't hurt Tien." the little one says only to be hoisted into the air by Shen, who grabs his shirt.
"Two traitors in the ranks huh!? Then you can share his fate!"
I jump the barricade and blast Shen with a Kamehameha, sending him out of the stadium before Master Roshi can do it.
"Don't worry Tien! I didn't put all my power into it! He'll just be sore for a while!" I reassure Tien.
"Sorry about that guys! I just couldn't let him murder Chiaotzu!" I say as I run back to my spot.
"Kachoba! Thank you!" I hear from the grateful triclops.
The match ends with Tien as the Champ.
Tien apologizes for breaking Yamcha's leg. The events play out as it did in canon. With the gang treating themselves to dinner alongside Tien and Chiaotzu. Goku suddenly runs out of the restaurant to find Krillin. We chase after him to find Goku holding Krillin's lifeless body…
I knew it would happen… And despite knowing, tears began to form.
"Krillin!" I shouted as tears streamed down my face. This was Tambourine's work.
Everyone looks on in horror.
"M-monster! It was some kind of monster! That kid tried to stop it from taking a ball and a list of tournament fighters but he was kicked in the head!" the announcer informed us as he laid on the ground.
"He didn't deserve this! Bulma! Do you have the Dragon Radar!?" Goku said with tears in his eyes.
"Yeah. Why?" the blue haired girl asked as she took out the Radar.
Goku snatched the device as he ran out of the building, ignoring Master Roshi's calls.
I look around to see a piece of paper with the symbol for demon circled on it.
I pick it up and show it to Master Roshi.
"Master, I found this paper here. Could it be a calling card?"
He takes it and drops his cane in horror.
"N-n-no… It can't be… He's back!"
This gets the others' attention.
"What's wrong Master?" Yamcha asks.
"This… is the crest of King Piccolo." Master Roshi reveals.
"Piccolo?" I ask.
"I heard of that name. He's a legendary creature that terrorized the world in ages past." Tien speaks up.
Roshi tells us the story of his experience with the Namekian Demon Clansman, and how his master, Mutaito, lost his life sealing Piccolo away using the Evil Containment Wave into an electric rice cooker that Roshi threw into the sea.
Knowing that I must get stronger if I want to survive, I ask Dad to take me to the Sacred Land of Korin so I can train.
Roshi, having an idea of what I'm after, asks me how I know of this place.
"I always had a soft spot for myths. Dad had some books lying around. One of them was about a tribe called the Karinga, who guarded a tower that was home to a god named Korin." I reveal.
I pack my things and depart for training and to risk my life by drinking the Ultra Divine Water.
I changed into my Turtle School gi and put on my blue scouter as we approached the Sacred Land of Korin.
We land inside of the village and as I am about to introduce myself, the sky turns dark for a while and it becomes sunny again.
Piccolo has regained his youth and killed Shenron, and even Chiaotzu.
"I must climb the tower. Please don't stop me. The world is in danger." I state to everyone, including my father.
AN: Will I succeed in climbing the tower? Will Korin deem me worthy of training? And what of the Ultra Divine Water? Find out next time on Dragon Ball!
