Ben 10: Alien Rebirth

It started with an alien device that did what it did. It stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid. Now he's got super powers, he's no ordinary kid. He's Ben 10! My retelling of the Ben 10 series, with various changes throughout the story, including: mild cursing, some mild violence, skipped and altered episodes, etc. New chapters (almost) every Tuesday

4. Chapter 4

Ben 10: Alien Rebirth

Chapter 4: Permanent Retirement

We see the RustBucket parked outside of an ice cream shop. Max was currently waiting outside, looking over a map as a man bumped into him.

Max, "oof! Hey!"

The man, "out of the way, grandpa. I got a major withdrawal to make."

The man was approaching a car that was parked in front of an ATM.

Max gave a suspicious look at the man.

….

We then see Gwen and Ben looking at ice cream barrels. Gwen once again had her glasses on.

Gwen, "so, um, what do you have that's nonfat with less than 3% sugar?"

The Ice Cream Employee, "napkins."

Ben, "come on Gwen. Live a little."

Gwen, "ugh, fine. I guess I'll take a mint chocolate chip."

The Ice Cream Employee, "alright then. What about you, kid?"

Ben turns around for a moment and sees the man at the ATM.

Ben, "I'm about to go down a rocky road."

Ben runs out, leaving Gwen to just stare at the employee in slight confusion.

….

The first man is putting a hook on the ATM as another man sits in the car.

Ben sneaks next to the car and says, "time for an Upgrade."

Ben activated the watch and transformed!

The man yells, "hit it!"

But as the 2nd man is about to drive the car, the car turns a black and green color!

The man sees a droopy head poking out of the dashboard, their eye looking like the symbol of the Omnitrix, but sideways.

This was Upgrade, an alien Ben could use to combine with machines.

Upgrade, "sorry, but your cash request has been denied. Please try again; NEVER!"

He throws the man out of the car and next to the other man.

Upgrade quickly emerged from the car, showing that they looked like a living circuit board, with their body being a mix of white, black and green, and the Omnitrix sitting right on his chest.

Upgrade defeats the men by merging with a nearby vending machine and shooting them with soda cans for a minute, knocking them both into a wall.

One of them gets knocked out, and when the other one tries to run, Max sticks his leg out and knocks them to the ground, and out cold.

Max, "where do you think you're going? Good work, Ben."

Upgrade, "oh, yeah. I'm ready for anything. Bring it on. What's up next?"

Max, "we're heading off to see your Aunt Vera for the weekend."

Upgrade, "aw, boring old Aunt Vera? Come on!"

….

We later see the trio driving to where Aunt Vera lived. A retirement community in a desert area.

Chester was perched by the window as Gwen spoke.

Gwen, "heh, when Aunt Vera said she wanted to move away from it all, she really meant it, huh?"

Ben, "oh, man. This summer was supposed to be about f-u-n, fun, not hanging out in some old lady's place, where the only thing to do is watch paint dry."

Ben was fiddling with his green jacket he wore around his waist, hoping it would fit him right one day.

Gwen, "well, I like Aunt Vera."

Ben, "that makes sense. You act like you're 100 years old."

Gwen, "well at least I've matured."

Ben, "hey, I can be mature."

Gwen, "or really? Name a time?"

Ben, "remember that time your brother got in trouble for drawing on the walls, and I took the blame?"

Gwen, "okay, that was one time."

Max, "simmer down you two. We're almost there."

Ben and Gwen stopped their bickering as they got closer to their destination.

….

We see Aunt Vera talking excitedly to her neighbor, Marty.

Aunt Vera wore purple and had long white hair. Marty was a scrawny old man in glasses.

Aunt Vera, "it's been years since I've seen Max and the kids. I'm not sure I'll even recognize them now. Stop by and say hello when you get a chance."

Marty, "I'd very much like that."

Marty leaves and enters his own house. But as he walks into the kitchen, something is seen approaching him from behind.

Marty gets attacked, but we don't yet see what attacks him.

….

Ben sees the retirement community from the window.

Ben, "this is gonna be so boring. Their idea of excitement in this place is probably watching the grass grow. Or like I said, watching…. Paint…. Dry…?"

Ben was left speechless as he saw an old man back-flipping around like a stunt man.

Ben, "whoa! Gwen, did you see that?"

Gwen, "see what? The heat must be frying that brain of yours."

Ben, "very funny."

Ben was legit curious about what was going on now.

….

We see the trio arrive at Aunt Vera's house.

Ben complains about the heat, saying, "seriously, why do old people have to live where it's so hot? It feels like a giant steam room."

Gwen hits Ben with some water.

Ben, "... Thanks for that, cuz."

Gwen laughs at her prank, "hahahahaha!"

Ben then sees Marty, or who we assume is Marty, glaring at them.

Ben, "huh, they really make you feel welcome here."

Max, "just watch your cheeks. Vera's a pincher."

Aunt Vera opens the door and exclaims, "Max!"

Max, "Vera."

Aunt Vera hugs Max, and then goes over to Gwen and says, "I can't believe you're finally here", she pinches Gwen's cheek, "oh, look at the both of you. So grown up! Those glasses make you look so smart Gwen."

Gwen, "ow. Er, thank you Aunt Vera."

Aunt Vera pinches Ben's cheek.

Ben, "ow."

Aunt Vera, "come on in. I can't wait to chew the fat with all of you."

They all enter inside Aunt Vera's house.

Ben, "sniff, ugh. Why do old people's houses always smell like somebody's cooking socks or something?"

Gwen elbows Ben in the side, trying to get him to stop being rude. Ben took the hint.

….

Later, we see the Tennysons eating Aunt Vera's Gelatin Mold she made. Well, Max and Vera were eating it happily. Ben and Gwen cringed as they ate, seeing that Max and Gwen shared the same strange tastes.

Max, "oh, Vera, this is delicious. Now, what are these brown chunks in the mold?"

Aunt Vera, "oh! Those are pork chops. And the white parts are cauliflower. So, Ben, what have you been doing so far this summer?"

Ben, "dealing with alien life forms."

Aunt Vera, "haha, oh, you."

Gwen sees a stuffed bird on the wall and says, "Aunt Vera, is that a stuffed red-billed North American Chickadee?"

Aunt Vera, "ohh! How perceptive, Gwen. And did you know the song of the red-billed North American Chickadee is actually…."

Gwen and Aunt Vera, "a call indicating alarm or excitement?"

They both mimic the bird's song.

Ben whispers, "dorksville, USA."

Ben moves his meal to Gwen's plate, not eager to eat it.

Ben, "I am totally stuffed."

Gwen glares at Ben.

Aunt Vera, "Ben, would you like some candy?"

Ben, "now we're talking", he eats a candy but spits it out, "ugh! Coffee as a candy? Is this some kind of joke….", Ben runs to a bathroom, "I need to use the bathroom", he goes inside the bathroom, "it's Attack of the Old People. I gotta get out of here."

Ben activated the watch and transformed.

In a flash of green light, he was now a gray ghost alien with a pink eye, and looked like he had stitches all over his body.

They spoke in a creepy voice, "GhostFreak should be able to get away."

….

Aunt Vera picks up a shell and hands it to Gwen.

Aunt Vera, "and this one is a Valentiana. Can you hear the ocean?"

Gwen puts her ear to the shell, but then hears GhostFreak whisper, "loser. Loser. Hahaha!"

Gwen, "er…. Yes, I can."

As Aunt Vera turns away, Gwen looks behind her and sees GhostFreak.

Gwen, "Ben?"

GhostFreak, "see ya. Wouldn't wanna be ya."

Ghostfeak gets out from Aunt Vera's house.

GhostFreak, "there has to be something fun to do around here?"

GhostFreak looks around and finds a golf cart.

GhostFreak, "well hello."

GhostFreak drives around and sniffs the air, finding an apple pie on a windowsill.

GhostFreak, "mm. Apple pie."

That's when he sees an old lady eating a fly!

GhostFreak, "no way. Ninja old people."

GhostFreak sees Marty driving a golf cart and avoiding water.

GhostFreak, "hmm…. I wonder what Mr. Friendly's up to?"

GhostFreak follows Marty and sees him pushing a dumpster.

GhostFreak, "this place just keeps getting weirder and weirder by the minute."

Suddenly, the Omnitrix times out and GhostFreak turns back into Ben.

Ben gasps seeing Marty twisting his neck completely around!

That ain't Marty!

Ben, "aah", he runs and closes a gate behind him, but the Marty double somehow goes through the bars like slime! Ben quickly begins driving the golf cart as the Marty imposter chases him.

Ben, "I didn't see your face suddenly pop on the back of your head! I swear! What kind of vitamins are these freaky old people taking?"

Be steps on a gas pedal in order to lose his pursuer.

Ben, "come on, come on."

The Marty double catches up and grabs the cart.

Ben, "let me go!"

Ben hits the clone Marty's arm with a golf club from the back of the cart.

Ben, "fore!"

The Marty clone hops on the cart roof and avoids the arms.

Ben, "no!"

The cart collapses, captured by the Marty imposter!

Ben screams as the sprinklers turn on, making the Marty clone run away.

Ben, "okay…. What just happened here?"

Ben gets back to Aunt Vera's house and calls Gwen and Max out.

Ben, "Grandpa, Gwen!"

Max, "shh. Your aunt Vera's in bed."

Ben, "seriously? It's, like, only 6:30. Never mind. Listen. This whole place is way creepier than I first thought. First, this old lady runs up a wall and then munches a fly. Then Marty, that weird next-door neighbor, is an alien or something with a face in the back of his head and these long, sticky arms, and this body that oozed right through this gate, and-"

Gwen, "Ben, you snuck out. Aunt Vera was hurt."

Ben, "I know. I'll apologize when she wakes up later. But we got other stuff to worry about. I say I go FourArms, and we check out Marty's apartment, all gangster style!"

Max, "well, maybe we should do some investigating, but you stay as you are. No gangster style. Us old folks don't forget as much as you think we do."

Gwen, "you know, ever since you've had that watch, you're like a magnet for the weird."

Ben looks right at Gwen and says, "you're right."

Gwen, "very funny…."

….

We see Max peeking inside of Marty's house.

Max, "hello? Anyone home?"

He shushes the kids as they go inside.

Gwen sees a shadow and says, "ah!"

Max figures out the shadow was a coat and a hat, "well, nothing here seems out of place."

Ben, "except for what he rolled up in his rug that was right here."

They leave the house and head back to Aunt Vera's.

….

Later that night, Max assures the kids to sleep.

Max, "you two sleep well. I'll be in the guest room if you need me."

Ben, "but, grandpa-"

Max, "Ben, there's nothing more we can do tonight. I'm going for an early walk in the morning, but once I'm back, we'll check things out again. Now, get some rest, you two."

Max leaves Ben and Gwen to slowly drift off to sleep.

Meanwhile, something sneaks into Aunt Vera's room!

….

Ben looks inside the refrigerator that morning.

Ben, "let's see. Prune juice, prune juice, and, oh, what a surprise, more prune juice. Why does it seem like old people were always old?"

Gwen sees Aunt Vera and says, "morning, Aunt Vera. How'd you sleep?"

Aunt Vera, or who we assume is her, replies, "just…. Fine. How about you?"

She pinches Ben's cheek, albeit more roughly.

Ben, "ow! Er, fine, Aunt Vera. And, I'm sorry about last night."

Aunt Vera, "sorry for what?"

Ben, "er, sneaking out yesterday?"

Aunt Vera, oh…. That…. It's alright."

Ben, "really?"

That seemed way too easy.

Gwen, "Aunt Vera, I made you some coffee"

But Gwen accidentally drops the tray!

Gwen, "oops, sorry!"

Aunt Vera suddenly jumps and braces her legs on the walls like a monkey!

Aunt Vera, "clean it up! Clean it up right now!"

Gwen looks at Ben and Aunt Vera in confusion and says, "I'm sorry."

Gwen quickly starts cleaning up the coffee as Aunt Vera gets back down and notices the empty guest room.

Aunt Vera, "where did your grandfather go?"

Gwen, "he said he was going for an early walk."

Aunt Vera, "well, behave yourselves. I'll be back soon…."

Aunt Vera walks off very suspiciously.

Ben, "she's totally one of them."

Gwen, "one of what?"

Ben, "whatever's possessing these old people. She jumped on the wall like how these other people have been doing backflips. Something or someone's gotten to Aunt Vera and who knows how many of the other fossils around here. And I think I know where they might be working from."

Gwen, "this whole thing feels like Invasion of the Body Snatchers!"

Ben, "you've seen that movie?"

Gwen, "it's a classic. Of course I've seen it."

And with that, the two left the house, making their way towards the dump.

….

Minutes later, we see Ben and Gwen sneaking around.

Gwen, "so, where are we headed, Sherlock?

Ben sees a resident roaming and hides.

Ben, "we need to get to that trapdoor by the dumpster."

Several of the old people, including Aunt Vera and Marty arrive nearby.

These aliens posing as them are called; Limax's.

Limax Aunt Vera, "is the food supply ready for transport?"

Limax Marty, "the pods are in the final stages of gestation. What about the young ones?"

Limax Aunt Vera, "they are too chewy. They need to age more before they get nice and tender."

Limax Marty, "I'm not talking about eating them. The boy suspects too much of our plan."

Ben and Gwen find the dumpster.

Ben, "it's right over there."

Gwen, "just follow the disgusting smell."

Suddenly, a Limax woman attacks them!

Gwen, "duck!"

The pair duck as she swings her arm at them!

Ben, "run!"

They run away, and then see Max approaching them.

Max, "guys, what's going on?"

Ben, "grandpa, they're everywhere!"

Max, "I know. Come here. I'll protect you."

Suddenly, his arms stretch out and attack them, shrieking like a banshee!

It's another Limax! They got Grandpa Max!

Gwen, "let's get out of here!"

As they run, they find themselves surrounded by Limaxes.

Ben, "oh, this is not good."

Gwen sees the Limax Max get crushed by a vending machine!

Gwen, "no!"

The Limax Max slithers out and reforms.

Ben points to the dumpster!

Ben, "come on. There's a trapdoor under there!"

Ben quickly activates the watch and transforms into WildMutt, who like Gwen suggested, now has a saddle, and he throws the dumpster at the Limaxes, and growls at Gwen.

Gwen, "got it…. That's scary, I'm starting to speak mutt."

WildMutt brings Gwen to his back and jumps into the trapdoor.

Gwen, "whoa! Does the expression; 'look before you leap', mean anything to you?"

She then sees the Limaxes coming down!

Gwen, "move it, boy!"

They run away as fast as they can and end up inside a cave full of tunnels.

Gwen, "these tunnels must go under the whole complex."

Suddenly, the Limax Max attacks but WildMutt catches him! He then throws the copy of their uncle into a nearby cave wall and approaches them.

WildMutt raises his paws to finish Limax Max.

Max, "you wouldn't want to hurt old Grandpa Max, now, would you?"

WildMutt hesitates and Limax Max retaliates!

Gwen hops on WildMutt's back and exclaims, "hey, short, dumb, and hairy. Rule one, he's not grandpa. He's an alien freak. And that leads to rule two, which is; 'We kick alien butt'."

WildMutt finishes Limax Max with a series of slashes that tears them apart into nothing but slime on the ground. He then senses something nearby.

Gwen, "what?

WildMutt starts to run towards the wall.

Gwen, "whoa! Thank God for this saddle", she looks at a wall in front of them, "look out!"

WildMutt reverts to Ben after crashing through the wall.

Gwen, "hey, freak show, what do I look like, a crash-test dummy?"

Ben starts looking at the cave, "listen. I don't know what it is, but I picked up some kind of scent here."

Ben and Gwen find the retirees in pods!

Gwen, "it's like everyone in the retirement village has been podded up. This IS the Invasion of the Body Snatchers!"

Ben, "you can say that again."

Ben then finds Max in a pod, "Grandpa!"

Ben quickly frees Max from the pod.

Max slowly wakes up and says, "oh, I was out for a walk and then…. Oh, I can't remember what happened next."

Ben tries to free the people but is stopped by the Limaxes!

Limax Aunt Vera, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Ben backs up, "well, you're not me."

Limax Marty, "not yet, I'm not."

The Limaxes show their true appearances.

They look like huge slime monsters.

Max, "you can fill me in later."

Gwen finds the Limaxes' ship.

Gwen, "look what's back here."

Max sees the ship, "that must be their ship."

Limax Aunt Vera, "they found it. We can't let them out."

Limax Marty, "get the pods on board. They've been marinating long enough!"

Max, "m-marinating?"

Gwen finds Aunt Vera in a pod, "they've got Aunt Vera!"

Ben activates the Omnitrix once more and says, "you guys really burn me up."

Ben transforms into HeatBlast.

The Limaxes step back.

HeatBlast, "... Now I'm going to return the favor."

HeatBlast shoots fire at the Limaxes but notices his mistake. They all form into a gigantic Limax.

Huge Limax, "whatever you are, you just made a terrible mistake. Us limaxes live for the heat. Why do you think we came to the desert in the summer?"

Gwen figures out that Limaxes hate water, remembering how Aunt Vera jumped away from the coffee.

Gwen, "they hate water! Aunt Vera when she was in the kitchen!"

HeatBlast, "or Marty, when I was on the golf cart!"

He finds an underground water pipe and destroys it to spray water at the Huge Limax! The Limax starts slithering towards the ship in pain as the water hits it.

HeatBlast, "see you, slime ball."

Gwen and Max save all of the people on the ship.

Max, "sorry. There's no dry-thru service here."

The Limaxes leave the planet, their ship flying high into the sky. Max then looks at the pods and says, "we should put them all back in their condos, so they'll think they never left, and that all of this was just a nightmare."

Gwen, "that could take hours."

HeatBlast, "give me a few minutes. I'll see if XLR8 can help out."

….

Hours later, everything in the community was back to normal as the Tennyson's got ready to leave.

Aunt Vera, "don't be strangers, you hear?"

Max, "we won't."

Gwen, "goodbye, Aunt Vera."

Aunt Vera, "goodbye, dear. Oh, this is for the road", she gives Gwen a Gelatin Mold, "Ben told me how much you liked my Gelatin Mold. This one's lime with chunks of grouper and chickpeas."

Gwen, "uh…. Thanks."

Aunt Vera, "I'm sorry, Ben, if there wasn't enough excitement here for you. I hope you weren't bored to tears."

Ben, "actually, it turned out better than I thought. And um, I'm sorry about sneaking away the other night."

Aunt Vera, "it's alright. I'm just glad you've had a good time. Well, have fun on the road."

Ben hugs Aunt Vera and says, "I will."

As he goes to the RV, Aunt Vera says, "oh, and Ben, keep up the good work dealing with all those aliens you were telling me about."

Ben, "heh, y-you're…. Kidding, right?"

Aunt Vera, "haha, of course, dear."

Ben chuckles as he, Gwen and Max once again head on the road.

As they drove away, Aunt Vera said, "oh, if only they knew what their Grandpa did for a living…."

….

As the RustBucket drove off, Ben and Gwen were once again sitting across from one another.

Gwen asked, "okay, Ben, I have to ask about that jacket. Why do you wear it?"

Ben, "Dad gave it to me, but it doesn't fit me yet, so that's why the sleeves are rolled up like this."

Gwen, "hmm. Neat."

And with that, the group were back on the road, and odd towards more adventures….

Jinero: well, I figured since Celestialsapien's can be BORN, I figured they can die as well. In this universe, while they're still all powerful and live for millions of years…. They still eventually reach an age where they must perish and pass on their power to their offspring. I feel like a Celestialsapien reaching the end of their lifespan and giving their DNA to Azmuth would be the only explanation for Alien X that made any sense. And I may give explanations for the Circus Freaks, but I'm not sure what yet. I'll try to think of an explanation for how it was made.

Echo Five: simple…. They're not. That episode is NOT going to be in this story. Since Charmcaster is going to be a hero in this story. Sure, the group would be disturbed by what she did, but they won't get the chance to in this story. Plus, you can't entirely blame Hope. The Alpha Ruin made her go nuts, plus, her father reversed all the damage, and we saw how much she regretted her actions. Also, I don't think Hex would have been disgusted. The dude has literally tried to kill and torture people before his redemption in Alien Force. Plus, I'm just gonna be real: I hate that episode. I feel like they built up a redemption for Charmcaster when she teamed up with the trio, and they ruined it by making her a villain again, pairing her up with Darkstar for one episode, and of course, everything she did in Omniverse. Also, I will do the episode that crossed over Secret Saturdays and Ben 10, but with more continuity, and it'll be my own version of Secret Saturdays. I may change what Tetrax says to, "I'm a noble and experienced warrior", since I really don't have a problem with the original line.

Ushindi: glad you liked the chapter and the changes I added. As for your questions: 1. I loved the stuff with the Ultimatrix, and wish they had kept it around. I don't know what Omni-Kix is. 2. I don't know what Omni-Enhanced is. 3. I don't hate Kai as much as other people do, but I think Ben would have been better off with someone else. Like, there's so many options! Julie, Ester, Looma, Elena, Attea, Charmcaster, etc.

It's been interesting writing this story.

The first chapter I did was entirely from memory, and I used transcripts for these last three I've written.

But there aren't a lot of good transcripts for Ben 10, so some episodes I do from memory will be very different.

Expect big changes for episodes like The Visitor, Tough Luck, and more!

Also, I'm saving Kevin 11 for the 11th chapter. Since…. Come on! How can you NOT make it the 11th chapter/episode!?

I decided a neat design choice would be for Upgrade's eye to look like the Omnitrix symbol. The green being the white of the eye, and the black being the eyelids.
