Ben 10: Alien Rebirth

It started with an alien device that did what it did. It stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid. Now he's got super powers, he's no ordinary kid. He's Ben 10! My retelling of the Ben 10 series, with various changes throughout the story, including: mild cursing, some mild violence, skipped and altered episodes, etc. New chapters (almost) every Tuesday

Ben 10: Alien Rebirth

Chapter 10: A Small Problem

We find the Tennyson's spending their day at a waterpark! Ben and Gwen are in their swimsuits as they see an advertisement for a rather large water slide attraction, clearly excited about it.

Ben now had a blue wristband over the watch to keep it hidden.

Ben and Gwen, "the super slide six thousand is the most epic water slide you will ever ride!"

They head for the entrance.

Gwen is able to get in line, but the attendant stops Ben in his tracks.

Ben, "hey! What gives man!?"

The attendant, "you're under the line. Sorry little dude."

Gwen, "sorry Ben! Maybe you can ride it next time?"

Ben grumbled in irritation as he stormed away.

Ben hides behind a large pillar and says, "Maybe a little visit from RipJaws will scare that guy. Show him a height limit!"

Ben pulls down the wristband and activates the watch and tries to press down on it, but it won't go down!

Ben, "what the?! Come on!"

Ben starts pushing the faceplate over and over again.

In anger, he smashes it against the pillar, transforming him into GreyMatter!

GreyMatter, "what the? I said giant fish, not little green man! Hmm, maybe I can work with this?"

GreyMatter starts sneaking around, being able to avoid the people around the water park. But it becomes a problem when a stampede of kids starts heading towards him as he gets closer to the water slide.

GreyMatter was able to dodge the stampede and make his way through the line.

At the entrance of the ride, someone is explaining the history of the site to the same attendant who wouldn't let Ben on the water slide. His name is Howell Wayneright.

He says, "I'm telling you, this whole site needs to be studied! I have been studying various sources, and it looks like aliens crash-landed onto the site in the year 1951, back when it was just a cornfield. I'm just hoping to get a few soil samples. Maybe I could have a word with your supervisor."

The attendant said, "I don't care."

He puts his hand up to his ear like a phone and makes a mock call, "ring, ring. Hello, sir. There's a guy here who needs some soil samples. Aliens landed here, apparently. Yeah? Okay then", he puts his hand back down, "sorry dude."

Howell, "oh, come on!"

While they continue their discussion, GreyMatter ties the attendant's shoelaces together to get revenge for not letting him through.

GreyMatter, "time to tie up some loose ends!"

Howell catches him doing this!

He exclaims, "see! Look! Down there! An alien!"

The attendant, "yeah right. You've got a screw loose man."

Howell, "ugh, forget it! I'll get them myself!"

So Howell decides to chase after GreyMatter. The attendant tries to stop him, though he trips because of his tied-up shoelaces.

As Gwen is about to go down the slide, GreyMatter jumps in front of her!

Gwen, "what the? Ben?!"

GreyMatter, "see ya on the other side!"

The little alien jumps down, with Gwen following behind him.

He makes it to the bottom first, but is almost crushed by Gwen when she comes down shortly after him.

When they both surface, Gwen says to Ben, "you know Grandpa will be angry when he finds that you used the Omnitrix to sneak onto the ride."

GreyMatter, "oh, relax, will ya? I'll just change back before he finds out. We both got to go on the slide! No biggy!"

Gwen seems to go along with it and says, "alright. I guess there's no trouble. Just don't do that again, or I'll use the water to fling you around."

Gwen makes a show of this, her eyes glowing purple as some water floated up for a moment.

GreyMatter, "noted."

They then decide to towel off, or napkin off, in GreyMatter's case.

But before GreyMatter gets out of the pool, Howell from earlier surfaces from the pool and picks him up, stating, "oh, you're my ticket to fame!"

GreyMatter immediately calls out, "Gwen!"

Gwen sees this and says, "hey! Let go of him right now!"

Instead, he quickly stuffs GreyMatter into a cooler and runs off.

Gwen then runs off and finds Max.

Gwen, "Grandpa! Some guy just grabbed GreyMatter and stuffed him into a cooler!"

Max, "come on, let's go!"

Max and Gwen then go after Howell, running after him out of the park, but unfortunately he makes it to his car and drives off as fast as a bullet!

Gwen, "Ben!"

Max, "calm down Gwen. Let's get to the RustBucket and follow that car! Hopefully Ben can get out of that cooler."

Gwen, "yep, he's doomed."

….

Howell takes GreyMatter to his home, where he has installed a very elaborate security system. Cameras are positioned throughout the home, while security lasers prevent entry. He then voice commands the lasers off to open up his entry.

Howell, "Howell Wayneright."

His footprints leave behind water, which are then cleaned up by robotic vacuums. He then sets the cooler onto the counter and commands the lights on and to prepare dinner. His pet cat then shows up to toy with the cooler, but Howell says, "no! This isn't a toy. This is the discovery of the century!"

….

In the RV, Gwen and Max are searching for where Howell had taken GreyMatter. Gwen, "by the time we find them, GreyMatter should eventually return to normal and able to escape on his own. Right?"

Max, "but he should have already done so by this point. Something must be wrong with the Omnitrix."

Gwen, "well, GreyMatter has an advantage because of his intelligence. Maybe by the time we find him, he'll have escaped?"

Max, "we can only hope."

….

Back at the house, Howell questions GreyMatter as he's sealed in a glass jar so he can't escape.

They ask, "what galaxy are you from?"

GreyMatter doesn't know, despite his intelligence.

GreyMatter, "look buddy, I don't even know the name of my species, let alone my home planet. Just you wait until I get big!"

Howell continues to stare, and GreyMatter suggests, "take a picture. It will last longer."

Howell eventually takes his advice, since he needs proof of GreyMatter anyway.

He goes over and grabs his camera, taking several snapshots of GreyMatter.

Now that he has pictures, he calls up something called the Organization, which is headquartered at a castle, and sends them what he found.

Howell says to their leader, "I finally have evidence. These pictures are of an extraterrestrial creature I found at a local water park."

The leader, named Enoch, has a cowl, armor, and an elaborate mask, so his appearance goes unseen.

He has little patience with Howell, but reacts to the images he has just sent, "for once, your escapades have come up with results, Howell. We will need to study the specimen in much closer detail. We will be sending over some of our men to escort you to our base of operations…."

Howell, "yessir!"

….

Still in the jar, GreyMatter spots Howell's cat. He gets an idea, and lures the cat by saying, "here kitty kitty! I taste just like chicken!"

The cat knocks over the glass jar to get to GreyMatter, but ends up breaking it, allowing him to escape. The cleaning robots then show up to deal with the mess, leaving GreyMatter between the two. He then hops over the cleaning vacuum, and runs into the hall. Howell shows up during the chase, not knowing what just happened. He talks to himself saying, "imagine how famous I'll become after people recognize me as an alien discoverer. Howell Wayneright, the scientist of the century."

He then walks into the room where GreyMatter was once held, finding him missing. Meanwhile, GreyMatter is in the kitchen. He climbs up the cabinets and finds a phone on the counter. He uses it to call Gwen.

Gwen, "hello?"

GreyMatter, "Gwen! It's me, Ben!"

Gwen, "Ben? Wait, you haven't turned back yet?"

GreyMatter, "no. Something's wrong with the watch right now."

Gwen, "where are you right now?"

GreyMatter, "I am approximately the size of two football fields away from where the water park is located, in a house that is comprised of-"

Gwen, "brainiac! How about a street name?"

GreyMatter, "oh, yeah, it's Ripley S-"

But he can't tell her the full name because he puts his hands on the window, and triggers an alarm and a steel shutter on the window!

GreyMatter dodges the shutter, but knocks the phone over, breaking it and ending the call.

GreyMatter is then cornered by Howell. He tries to grab him, but climbs up his shirt. Howell tries to reach for him, but GreyMatter then leaps from his shirt and climbs inside an air vent. Howell grabs GreyMatter before he goes any further, but he bites his hand to make him let go.

….

Meanwhile, Gwen and Max are forced to sort through all the houses on each street with Ripley in the name.

….

Inside the vents, GreyMatter wonders aloud to themself.

GreyMatter, "what's wrong with the Omnitrix? Hmm, it must have shorted out at the water park, most likely from going into the water, combined with slamming the dial on the pillar. That and the moment when I transformed, must have locked me into this form…. Probably a misfire with the amino acid sequence interacting with the circuitry in the faceplate…. Heh, it's nice to be smart."

….

Howell won't give up, though. He turns the vent fans on to blow GreyMatter out. He then gets taken for a short ride until he grabs a ceiling grate. He opens it, and Howell spots him and tries to hit him with a broom. GreyMatter dodges the attacks and jumps into the sink.

Howell says, "I can't afford to lose you!"

He turns the faucet on to flush him out. The rushing water then pushes GreyMatter through the pipes and into the toilet, disgusting him.

GreyMatter, "ugh. This is so gross!"

….

Meanwhile, in the neighborhood, Gwen and Max split up to begin searching the houses. Max was repelled by a sprinkler and Gwen got scared away by a spider, leading them back into each other, so they gave up in favor of searching with the RV.

….

Back at Howell's house, Howell is using his security cameras in his home to find GreyMatter. He eventually finds him at the main power switch, which GreyMatter uses to leave Howell's home in darkness. Howell continues his search with a flashlight, and GreyMatter eventually finds a way out. He heads to the chimney looking route, and it attracts Howell as he opens it. Howell then starts to smoke GreyMatter out as he climbs!

GreyMatter, "cough, cough, come on man! Woah!"

GreyMatter loses his grip and Howell succeeds in catching him into a fish net.

Howell, "you're not getting away this time!"

He then confines him in a compartment, along with his collection of alien figurines. GreyMatter sarcastically comments, "wow, imagine how many friends you must have?"

Howell, "it won't matter after I make a fortune. I'll be world famous for discovering alien life!"

GreyMatter muttered, "oh, if only you knew."

The Organization then shows up. They look like knights in trench coats and fedora hats.

Howell greets them at the door saying, "welcome gentlemen. I have the alien locked up tight."

Three henchmen were sent to see his discovery, and brought in a small, electrified container with them.

Howell then showed them Grey Matter, saying, "here he is. Let's get him to the others."

They promptly stuff GreyMatter into the container, leaving with the Organization.

….

As Gwen and Max continue their search, they seem to have found Howell's car, though he parked his car in the garage. Max decides to forget knocking in favor of breaking the door down. However, it was not the right house.

An elderly woman in a wheelchair comes to the door with her dog.

She yells, "sick 'em Bruno!"

Max wrestles with the dog as Gwen watches, but then she spots men shoving Howell into their car on the other side of the street.

Howell drops his phone as he's pushed in.

Gwen, "Grandpa! They're getting away!"

Max touches the dog's head and puts it to sleep, impressing Gwen.

Gwen, "woah, where'd you learn that?"

Max, "in my line of work, you pick up a few things. Now come on!"

Since they don't know where they're going to, they decide to find out by investigating Howell's home.

….

Inside the Organization's car, GreyMatter is not excited about the situation.

GreyMatter, "ya know, I think that these guys are more trouble than you are."

Howell, "well you're in the cage and I'm not. So you don't really get an opinion right now."

They arrive at the castle, the men then shove Howell out of the car, and lead him and GreyMatter inside.

….

Meanwhile, Max notes Howell and the old lady's similar cars.

Max, "good thing they live in the same neighborhood."

Gwen finds Howell's phone and goes through the pictures of Grey Matter, all showing him to be rather sad.

Gwen, "jeez. He looks miserable. No-one does this to my cousin and gets away with it!"

Max, "I have an idea. We can get an address from the call history if we do a reverse trace on the numbers."

Gwen starts to appreciate his sneaky side as she says, "great idea. Let's hope this works…."

….

At the castle, the men lead Howell to see Enoch and his scientists.

Howell, "so, um, how will we spread the word of this amazing discovery? Radio shows? Joint news conferences?"

He hands GreyMatter to the scientists as the henchman merely glanced at Howell.

Howell, "what? What'd I say?"

Enoch, "we would rather keep the discoveries to ourselves. Such a find is useless with the general public."

Howell, "what? You can't do this! We've made the discovery of the century! The world needs to know about this!"

Howell is grabbed by the henchmen as Enoch says, "you and many others like you are disposable, take him away. And make sure he doesn't talk."

Howell, "what're you gonna do with the alien?"

Enoch, "we will be running some tests on them."

As GreyMatter is carried away, he says, "I've never been good at tests! Or even quizzes!"

Howell is taken out of the room and thrown down some stairs. As he gets up, he shoves one of the henchmen into a closet and runs as fast as he can to where the scientists are.

Howell, "they can't do this! They can't do this to me, or that alien!"

….

Outside, a guard is patrolling with a spear. It's no ordinary spear though. It seems to have an energy weapon equipped to it.

Max and Gwen are sneaking around as Gwen asks, "who are these guys?"

Max, "the Forever Knights. They're a secret organization dedicated to collecting alien technology. And they've been doing this for decades, maybe even centuries."

He then sees Gwen's confused expression and he then covers it up by saying, "I picked it up somewhere when I was on the job. You learn a lot of strange things traveling around for so long."

….

Inside, GreyMatter is taken to a lab. The scientists have made a doll of him, strapped onto an operating table. Various cutting lasers attached to the table cut the doll apart, scaring GreyMatter.

The scientists then prepare to do the same process on him.

He says, "don't bother with the slice and dice. I'm just as gray on the inside as I am on the outside!"

But this falls on deff ears as they strap him down.

….

Meanwhile, Gwen and Max make their way inside the castle walls by using a nearby tree. A guard eventually spots them. Max goes on with the attack, knocking off his spear. He does well in the fight, but is soon overpowered. Gwen, however, was able to knock the guard out with his own spear, and hit him with a ball of electricity that knocked them out cold!

Gwen, "God, I love having these powers."

….

Outside the lab, an unknown assailant dressed as one of the knights knocks one of the scientists out as he prepares to enter. Whoever knocked him out takes his suit and goes inside. The other scientist is about ready to dissect GreyMatter.

GreyMatter, "please! Don't do this!"

He is terrified as the impostor scientist suddenly knocks the real scientist out.

GreyMatter, "what the-?"

The imposter reveals himself as Howell and says, "aliens are people too! Well, sorta. The point is, I'm getting you out of here."

He then uses the lasers to free GreyMatter. More scientists show up to stop him, so he uses the extending arms the lasers are attached to knock them away. He tries to get away with GreyMatter, but is tackled down and drops him. GreyMatter escapes as Howell wrestles with one of the scientists.

….

In the hall, GreyMatter runs into Gwen's leg.

Both are surprised and happy to see each other.

Gwen, "Ben!"

GreyMatter, "Gwen!"

Gwen picks up GreyMatter and hugs him.

Max, "we should save the family reunion for later. Right now, we've gotta get out of here."

Sneaking through the castle and dodging guard patrols, they eventually find their way to a storage room. Within it is much of the alien technology that the Organization has collected. It's arranged in a circle around a large device in the center.

GreyMatter's, "this stuff they've collected must be incredibly valuable, powerful, or both, in which case, they don't know what they've been dealing with."

….

Meanwhile, Enoch is ordering his men to recapture GreyMatter, yelling, "find the alien! Before it escapes our grasp!"

….

GreyMatter, "we need to destroy everything. We can't let these guys use any of this technology!"

Suddenly, several guards show up, along with Enoch and Howell in custody. The three take cover near the large device in the center. Thinking to himself, GreyMatter comes up with a plan.

He shouts, "Gwen, Grandpa, grab some of the alien technology, a hyper core and a capacitor to be precise."

They hesitate at first, but comply when GreyMatter says, "it's not Ben talking, it's GreyMatter. I know what I'm doing!"

One of the guards catches them as they retrieve the parts, but Max takes his weapon and holds the others at bay. Max provides cover fire.

GreyMatter, "you guys gotta get out of here! I can activate the device, I'll meet you outside."

Max and Gwen leave, albeit worried for Ben.

With Gwen and Max gone, GreyMatter activates the device, which powers up and starts releasing energy. Enoch seems to understand what it's doing.

Enoch, "no! The reaction will decimate the castle! Everyone evacuate! Except you Howell, I'm tired of dealing with you!"

The Organization departs and GreyMatter climbs out of the device. The Omnitrix finally times out and GreyMatter reverts back into Ben. Howell misses the revert, so he's confused when he finds Ben.

He asks Ben, "where did the alien go?!"

Ben, "I promise to explain once we escape!"

Howell accepts his statement and aids Ben in pulling his hand out of the device. The two then escape the castle just before the alien device collapses it into what appears to be a miniature black hole.

The two run towards Gwen and Max.

Howell asks, "did any of you see where that alien went?"

Gwen, "alien? What alien?"

Ben, "I didn't see an alien!"

Annoyed, Howell says, "ah, forget it. I'm done with chasing aliens. If it gets me into this much trouble, I'm going back to building kitchen appliances!"

Ben, "wait!"

Howell looks at Ben as he says, "I think I saw the alien. He said, 'thank you for freeing him.'"

Howell actually smiles as he departs back home.

….

Later, the trio is back at the RustBucket as Ben says, "oof, I'm happy to be big again."

Gwen, "well, you're still not that big to begin with."

Ben, "do NOT make me go FourArms on you, miss magic hands!"

Bwn slams his hand on the table, but the Omnitrix suddenly releases an audible as well as visual charge, interrupting them.

Ben immediately claims, "I didn't do anything!"

Gwen, "we gotta get that thing fixed."

Ben, "agreed."

….

Meanwhile, we see Enoch in his car. There's a great deal of electronics installed in it, including a computer. Profiles of Ben, Gwen and Max are on the screen.

Enoch orders his men, "find out everything there is to know about these three. This. Isn't. Over…."

Jinero: I honestly think the Ultimatrix is a much more useful tool then the Omnitrix in Omniverse. Ben will have Azmuth improve the watch with some parts of the first Omnitrix. I added the wristband in this chapter. As for Bens' parents reaction to him threatening the Forever Knights, I'm not sure.

Echo Five:

There's a good chunk I'm changing. Like 75%. Mr. Bowman won't hate Ben, Kevin's backstory will remain that he had an alien father, NO ROOTER RETCON! Fake Vilgax will be dropped, Blukic will stay dumb while Driba will be smarter, no universe recreating, no redesigns, Ben won't be a jackass, most of the goofy episodes skipped, etc. Carl and Sandra will be shocked by Ben becoming Alien X, but would get used to it over time. The new Negative 10 will consist of: Driscoll, Rojo as the Forever Knight, Kevin, Hex, Zombozo, Clancy, Animo, Dr. Viktor, Captain Kangaroo and Phil Billings. Also, as for your question about the Incursions…. NO! Alien X isn't gonna kill the Incursions or threaten them! When I said Alien X would actually solve the problem at the end of his debut, I meant this: Attea actually blows up the Earth, but immediately regrets it upon doing so. Ben makes a deal with Bellicus and Serena to fix this. That being: every other day Ben is free, he has to help them solve a few issues while as Alien X in order to gain better control over it. Ben agrees, and they have Alien X reverse time in order to save Earth. Alien X turns back into Ben after this, Attea shows remorse for what she did, and rather than being put into stasis jail, she's put in Gwen's family's charge. The Incursions leave, Ben says he's gonna train with Alien X whenever he can, end episode.

Chronolocked: Ben will one day unlock an Anodite form, and will only be able to use magic in that form, and the dragon alien form.

Storm: interesting ideas, but I'm not gonna name them. They're in only one episode, so I see no reason whatsoever to name them.

Anonymous: I might just add that in as a backstory between the two of them. And good idea on the name.

yukid999: maybe. I'm still working on pet names. I have pet names for Hope. Sweety, love, honey, Caster, my little magician, etc. Don't have any for Ben yet though.

117: I'm honestly not sure what Paradox could have done. I might…. Might add in a Maljian transformation. The plan would be to have Ben unlock this form for when he must time travel or go to the other Bens' universes. I plan on doing Race Against Time, so Ben may keep the form, although it'll look WAY different. I'm gonna give him pale skin, black hair, sunken in eyes, etc. I love the name Time Bender.

Ushindi: glad you liked the chapter. 1. I love Lucy from Ben 10. 2. I'm not gonna change Kai too much, other than that she'll want to date Ben in Omniverse, but Ben will have no interest, since he's with Hope.

Guest: well, I planned on Hex taking Hope's place in most episodes where she's a villain.

Spartan: good ideas. And don't worry, I don't plan on doing pre-teen Albedo and dumb Azmuth. As for Ultimate GreyMatter, I'm not sure what I'll change about his form.

Guest: I just personally thought all of the alien monster names were really dumb, aside from Frankenstrike and Ghostfreak. Silverfang is basically Ben naming an alien after his feelings for Hope in this story.

Granny gertrude: thanks for the kind words.

Anonymous: um…. That's not gonna happen between Gwen and Hope. At all. Hope is one of the heroes from the very beginning in this story. She's not going to be a villain at any single point. Her and Gwen would actually get along. So the Charles and Erik comparison is inaccurate to this story. They will be friends, never enemies, and not frenemies. As for Spellbinder, while I do agree with your words on him, Hope isn't gonna go through her mental breakdown, or kill Ben, Gwen and Kevin in order to bring her father back to life. The plan was this: Spellbinder would still be alive when the group goes to Ledgerdomain, but he will sacrifice himself in order to save the team.

Guest: interesting.

Guest: no, Ben will not learn magic. If I had three characters who all knew magic, it would be redundant and I think Gwen and Hope using their magic wouldn't be that special anymore.

This chapter was a little shorter than usual, but there's no good transcripts of this episode that I could find, so I had to do everything from memory. For some shows like DBZ, that's easy for me.

But for shows like this and Teen Titans, it's a little trickier.

At least Teen Titans has very good transcripts for episodes I can use to aid in my writing. With Ben 10 though, it's hit or miss.

Alright, so here's a list of changes to the story so far:

Gwen can actually use magic after Lucky Girl.

Ben has 11 aliens before he meets Kevin.

Ben wears his green jacket.

Gwen wears glasses sometimes.

Max has a baseball cap and is a little younger than canon.

More changes will follow as the story continues forward.
