Ben 10: Alien Rebirth

It started with an alien device that did what it did. It stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid. Now he's got super powers, he's no ordinary kid. He's Ben 10! My retelling of the Ben 10 series, with various changes throughout the story, including: mild cursing, some mild violence, skipped and altered episodes, etc. New chapters (almost) every Tuesday

Ben 10: Alien Rebirth

Chapter 15: The Big Tick

We find the Tennyson's at Yellowstone National Park a few days after their battles at Mount Rushmore against Vilgax and Phil, with Grandpa Max having just finished setting up the RV.

Both he and Gwen are happy to be there. Ben, on the other hand, would rather be somewhere else.

Max, "ah, Yellowstone. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to."

Gwen, "it's breathtaking Grandpa. Isn't Ben…? Ben?"

Ben is looking through his roster of aliens.

Gwen, "Ben? What're you doing?"

Ben, "well, I figured I'd go XLR8 and hit up that burger place in Casper to pick up a double cheeseburger with pickles."

Gwen, "Ben, Yellowstone happens to be one of the coolest places around. Just hang out and appreciate it. We can worry about dinner later."

Max, "Gwen's right. And we can live right off the land", he lifts up a log where many bugs are crawling around, "mmm, grub worms", he eats a worm, much to the cringe of the kids, "full of protein."

Ben and Gwen, "ewww."

Max, "when you try a ton of alien delicacies, you develop some strange tastes. With these, you can grill 'em up with a sun-dried tomato paste, and they are-"

Gwen grabs Ben's wrist and tries to work the Omnitrix, "maybe I can help. I'll take my burger with chili."

Ben, "I can appreciate that."

That's when they see a new silhouette on the watch and accidentally press down.

Instead of transforming Ben into a recognizable alien, the Omnitrix transforms Ben into an entirely new form.

A very large alien with yellow armor and white skin, his teeth and fingers as sharp as razors, their eyes tiny and yellow with black circles around them.

This is a rather clumsy alien that struggles to move and to stay upright at the same time, falling onto his back as he looks at his very large hands.

Gwen, "now that's a heroic pose."

The new alien speaks in a deep voice as he says, "real funny", he then gets helped up by Gwen and Max, "I can't believe I'm a new hero. Just like with BuzzShock!"

Max, "and where there's one more, who knows, there could be a hundred more. It looks like the Omnitrix may have a lot more aliens yet unlocked."

The new alien, "what do you think this guy can do? Maybe he can shoot stuff out of his hands?"

He tries shooting anything out of his hand, making various movements, (with them being very similar to how SpiderMan does his hand movements), but nothing happens.

The new alien, "or, maybe not?"

As this new alien tries to figure out what he can do, a meteor flies overhead and crashes a short distance away. The new alien turns in the direction of the crash and falls over yet again.

The new alien, "that's it! This alien's gotta go."

He then curls into a ball and unintentionally tumbles away towards the crash sight!

Gwen, "don't you mean; gotta roll?"

Max, "look on the bright side. You're headed in the direction of the meteor."

The two of them race after this new alien towards the crash site.

At said crash site, the meteor begins to crack as the three Tennyson's arrive, with the new alien falling onto their back once again. The meteor then breaks apart to reveal a large, reddish, tick-like alien within.

Gwen, "ugh, what is that thing?"

Max, "looks like a very big tick."

A ship arrives shortly after and three aliens exit the ship riding platforms that fly through the use of an energy ball positioned directly below them.

The first is a tall, pale-skinned alien with six tentacle-like feet. He seems to be the leader of these three.

The second is shorter with six arms and yellow skin.

He can apparently hear and understand what the giant tick is saying, though it never makes any noise resembling speech. The final alien is of medium height, has four eyestalks, and carries a large ax.

He's an enforcer of some kind.

The Leader Alien, "relax. We come in peace."

Gwen, "that's what they always say right before they blow you to bits and probe you."

Max, "oh, that's just a rumor. Most if not all aliens find probing very gross."

The Enforcer Alien, "hmm. An earthling with attitude. I've heard they exist here in large numbers, or should I say…. did?"

The Leader Alien, spotting Ben as the new alien, says, "and an Aburian Pelarota to boot."

Gwen, "at least we know what you are, now."

The new alien, "yeah, well I still gotta give them a name."

The Leader Alien, "we followed The Great One from planet to planet, galaxy to galaxy, after he paid a visit to each and every one of our planets. Notice his technique: the deep burrowing of the appendages into the core of the planet, rotting it from the inside and then ingesting it."

The Enforcer Alien, "but you're a little far away from home, aren't you?"

The new alien, "actually, closer than you think."

The Enforcer Alien, "unfortunately there's nothing to go back to. A Great One purified your planet last week."

The Leader Alien, "let us show you!"

The Enforcer Alien, "no. Not the audiovisual thing again."

The Leader Alien looks at the Enforcer Alien with a raised eyebrow. He then proceeds to create a hologram with a slightly annoyed look at his face.

The Leader Alien, "no, it's actually quite the experience. Let me show you. Your cities will be laid to waste, your oceans will dry up, your mountains will crumble."

The Enforcer Alien, "it will be the end of the world as you know it."

The Leader, Enforcer, and Interpreter Aliens all say, "Rejoice. Rejoice. Rejoice."

Gwen, "someone's been drinking too much kool-aid."

Max, "that's an understatement. I've seen plenty of nutjobs like this back when I was a Plumber."

The hologram ends as the interpreter gets close to the giant tick and says, "the Great One is ready to start!"

The new alien, "I don't think so!"

As the big tick starts to dig into the ground, it makes a rather awful smell that makes the others cringe.

Max sarcastically comments on the gas released by the Great One, "ugh, quite aromatic."

Gwen, "I thought that was just Ben not taking a shower for three days."

The new alien, "I may be gross, but I'm not that gross."

As the Great One begins the process of devouring the planet, the new alien tries to attack them!

He yells, "you're going down!"

He curls into an armored ball and rockets towards the aliens.

The ax wielding worshiper merely bats him away and into the nearby forest. Max and Gwen chase after him as fast as they can.

In the forest, the new alien in their curled up form bounces off of various objects like a pinball before coming to a stop and reverting back into Ben.

Max and Gwen find Ben as he sits up and rubs his head.

Ben, "oh, man. This watch gives me a new alien out of the blue and all it can do is roll around. Totally not fair!"

Gwen, "oh, that's right. Don't worry about the fact some giant planet-sucker's about to wipe Earth off the face of the universe; because THAT'S fair!"

Ben, "okay, you made your point. We gotta stop this thing before it destroys the planet!"

Max, "then let's get a move on!"

The trio begins making their way back to where the Great One is. But by this point, the Great One has already poisoned much of Yellowstone, converting the landscape slowly transforming into a decayed wasteland with gray tentacles sticking out of the ground. The tentacles suddenly start to attack the trio and attempt to drag them underground.

They run as fast as they can, trying to avoid the tentacles like the plague.

Luckily, the Omnitrix boots back up, allowing Ben to go Hero!

Ben, "time to take off!"

Ben transforms into StinkFly and rescues Max and Gwen before they can get dragged underground.

He then flies off with them towards where the Great One is, eager to try and stop the big tick before it destroys everything around them.

As he flies them over the park, they pass by the Old Faithful geyser, which now resembles a giant zit that is about to burst.

Gwen, "we really need to get you some underwing deodorant. Ugh!"

She covers her nose as StinkFly says, "if I ever find some, I'll let ya know."

Max, "it sounds like Old Faithful's ready to blow, and I don't know what the tick's poison could do to it when it does!"

StinkFly, "read ya loud and clear, one detour coming right up!"

StinkFly begins heading towards the geyser, hoping to stop it before it blows!

….

At the same time, the Interpreter alien tells his cohorts, "the Great One would like us to witness his power! Let us go and view the power!"

And the place to witness this power happens to be the geyser!

They meet StinkFly along the way, this time unsure of what he is.

The Leader Alien, "I have visual recognition of the elderly male and the prepubescent female, but what are they riding on?"

StinkFly, "two tons of putrid power! Now, move it or lose it, ya crazy cult clowns!"

StinkFly drops Max and Gwen off on a nearby cliff so he can fight the worshippers.

Stinkfly, "time to tick off a tick."

The Enforcer alien tries hitting StinkFly with their ax, but the bug alien manages to avoid the strikes over and over again while shooting globs of slime at the worshippers!

StinkFly manages to plug the geyser as he intercepts them, which they aren't happy about.

StinkFly continues dodging their attacks easily and manages to make them lose track of him.

StinkFly, "oh yeah! Who's bad? Oh, yeah", the Omnitrix begins to power down, as if to mock Ben, "oh, no", he everts back to Ben and begins falling!

Ben, "crap! Help!"

Luckily, he lands on the interpreter's platform, knocking him off of it.

He survives the fall, landing on the softened ground below.

As he lays on the ground, he says, "did someone catch that child's operating number?"

Ben then tries to fly the platform and begins a chase with the other two worshippers.

Ben, "move it or lose it, nutjobs!"

Ben eventually causes them to crash into Old Faithful.

After Ben does this, Max says, "never seen an intergalactic fender bender like that before."

Ben continues trying to ride on the aliens' hoverboard as he says, "oh, man. Where's an instruction manual when you need it?"

The area only continues to grow more and more unstable as the three worshippers all gather atop a cliff to praise the Great One.

The Enforcer Alien, "it's time for the final purification of your planet, and you three along with it!"

Gwen, "please tell me we have a plan B?"

The Leader Alien, "his beauty."

The Enforcer Alien, "his power."

The Interpreter Alien, "his pus."

The Leader, Enforcer, and Interpreter Alien speak rapturously in unison, "the end is upon us!"

With the worshippers out of commission, Ben turns his attention to the Great One, which has grown substantially in the short time since it began its feeding.

Ben, "it's time to bust out everyone!"

One after another, Ben transforms into his aliens to combat the Great One, but each alien fails in their attacks!

FourArms' strength has no effect on their hide!

HeatBlast's fire can't even burn the skin of the giant life sucking alien!

WildMutt's strength and razor sharp claws can't even break through the skin!

BuzzShock tried shooting a large amount of lightning at the giant tick, but it didn't even make it flinch!

XLR8 runs all around the big tick, trying to punch their way through at incredible speeds, but again, there was no damage!

StinkFly tries using their stinger to stab through the thick hide, but again, no substantial results!

DiamondHead formed gigantic sharpened crystals to stab into the tick, but only managed to scratch the surface!

GhostFreak tried flying into the tick, but it couldn't even manage to go through it, as if it were immune to his powers!

Upgrade merged with one of the hoverboards and tried to blast through the tick, but none of the blasts were able to do so!

RipJaws tried biting through the hide, but again, they only managed to go through the surface as if it were chipping a piece off a sidewalk.

They even tried to use GreyMatter, but the diminutive alien couldn't think of any way to break through the big tick's thick skin!

(Try saying that three times fast?)

The three are at the whim of the worshippers when they return.

Tossing sponges to them, the tall worshiper says, "the Great One must be cleaned before this world is destroyed!"

Ben, "there's no way I'm gonna-"

Max puts his hand on Ben's shoulder and whispers, "play along. This may be our only chance to defeat this thing."

As the three begin to clean the Great One, it begins to shed, revealing a yellow shell underneath its reddish exterior. Several large, purple pores also push their way out of the shell, spitting acid at random intervals.

The falling pieces of shell almost crush Ben, Gwen and Max.

Gwen, "Ben, don't you think NOW might be a good time to go hero?

Ben, "I'm trying. What if I turn into something ELSE that's useless?"

Max, "we're running out of time."

Ben, "and aliens. I went with everybody. Even GreyMatter! And he's not strong at all!"

Gwen, "not exactly everybody."

Ben, "oh, no way! I am not turning into that ball-thing again. Plus, I don't even know if I could. This watch turns me into the wrong alien all the time, and if I get the wrong one, we're all doomed!"

Gwen, "don't try and Earth turns into a giant cesspool!"

Ben, "I hate it when you're right!"

With nothing left to do, Ben dials up the new alien and transforms into them once again.

Upon seeing the new alien again, the worshippers attack him in rage and fear. The alien is able to avoid them by rolling away. As they fire on him, the worshippers accidentally hit the Great One.

Their attacks bounce off of its shell, giving Max the idea to use the shell pieces as shields. He grabs two of them and uses them to block their attacks!

The shell pieces work well, blocking the lasers and the acid releases from the Great One.

The Leader Alien, "let the digestion begin!"

Max, "digest this!"

He hits the alien with his shield, but he and Gwen are eventually trapped in a pit made by the acid, the two of them trying to stay out of the acid as the worshippers surround them.

But just before they are finished off by the worshippers, the new alien jumps in to save them, causing the worshippers' attacks to bounce harmlessly off of his shell.

He curls around Max and Gwen like a huge ball of armor, getting them out of danger!

Gwen, "woah, you're like a bowling ball!"

The new alien says, "more like a cannonball!"

The aliens fire a blast at him, but it reflects back at them.

The new alien, "actually, make that a Cannon-Bolt!"

Noticing that the attacks bounce off of his armor, the newly named CannonBolt uses this ability to his advantage, bouncing their attacks back at them and knocking them out of the picture.

With the worshippers once again out of the picture, CannonBolt turns his attention to the Great One.

He growls, "alright ya parasite. Let's play ball!"

His attacks are ineffective at first when he attacks the shell, but the pores on the Great One allow him to attack it from the inside. Once inside it, he bounces around its body, destroying its internal organs like a bowling ball rolling around a fruit!

He's able to cause enough damage to the giant tick, and it then dies in an explosion of purple slime!

CannonBolt emerges from the slime, shaking it off as he takes pride in finally defeating the Great One.

CannonBolt, "alright! Take that, ya ugly sack of pus!"

The blood of the giant tick soaks into the surrounding area, which slowly turns back to normal without the big tick destroying it.

Seeing that which they once worshiped was destroyed, the worshippers turn to Cannonbolt for a new thing to worship.

The Leader Alien, "hail to the new Great One!"

The Interpreter Alien, "hail, hail!"

The Enforcer Alien, "whatever."

Gwen comments, "not too loyal, are they?"

CannonBolt, "huh! I could get used to this kind of treatment."

That's right when CannonBolt then reverts back into Ben.

The Leader Alien, "um, perhaps we can find another Great One to worship?"

The Interpreter agrees and says, "one who is less…. Tiny?"

The Enforcer simply says, "goodbye. We won't be back!"

And with that, the three aliens made their way back onto their ship and flew off as the landscape finally returned to its normal state, as if the tick had never been there.

Gwen, "it looks like everything's going back to normal."

Ben, "hate to break it to you, Gwen, but nothing we ever do is normal. Maybe we can get some rest and relaxation in the great outdoors. It'll be good for us, especially since there's no mess to clean up!"

Later, we see the group cleaning up the RustBucket from the slime and guts the big tick had left when CannonBolt had defeated it. The only place the slime had been left behind.

Ben, "ugh, me and my big mouth!"

Max, "uh, Ben, you missed some tick goop over there."

Ben, "oh, man!"

Cleaning up the RustBucket seemed like an oddly fitting way to end such a strange day….

Kevin does NOT get GhostFreak's powers, since if he did, that would lead to a lot of trouble and plotholes for future chapters.

Guest: I fixed that mistake. It was an idea I had at some point and accidentally left it in this chapter.

Echo Five: Xylene will explain how it works. The female's of her species all look like how she does, while the males take on the physical traits of the father.

Guest: you're in luck, Cooper and Elena will get together eventually!

Spartan: yes, Ben's reliance on Feedback will cause a close family member to get hurt. But I'm not gonna spoil it, since that'll be a big reveal in the story. As for how many chapters each story will have…. I dunno. It really depends on which episodes I do or don't do. I meant Genepool would be the name for a Highbreed transformation if Ben got on, not a DNAlien transformation.

Guest: the episode is gonna mostly be the same, but Ben will call Max out on his crap, we'll see Enoch's escape, and hint that the sword was only a red herring for the true ultimate weapon…. Ascalon.

117: hence why I'm gonna try to give him a lot more redeeming qualities than canon, such as him slowly redeeming himself with every following appearance.

Ushindi: glad you enjoyed the chapter and what I added in. 1. Yes, Xylene is gonna stick around. 2. I love Xylene and wish she had been in the series more.

Guest:: yeah, I wanted to add more changes as the story went on, including establishing a clear history for the Plumbers. Rook's story will indeed tie into his grandpa. Phil will eventually be redeemed. Glad you liked how Ben and Gwen reacted to Max's secret. And yeah, the monster aliens will have more personality.

Tippy 1.1: you're welcome. Yeah, I may do that for the Sentient Ultimates. Yeah, I plan to give the Ultimate Aggregor finale a much better conclusion. Such as teen Ben and kid Ben both using a ton more aliens, Ben using the Andromeda 5 one by one to fight Aggregor, and the group actually apprehending them after Ultimate Kevin engages in an epic fight against them. Ben will use his classic aliens a lot more, starting with him using his entire original roster in the battle against the Highbreed. And the Ultimate Aliens will have a lot more screen time, and will stick around for Omniverse. Ben will unlock Master Control eventually. Glad you're fine with Fastteack being left out. He's not as fast as XLR8 or Jetray, so he's pretty useless in comparison. And yeah, we'll get to see more of Ben and his friends in school. Ben will be a little hesitant to keep Ship, and will freeze up in Pet Project. Hope would be the peacekeeper between Ben and Gwen in the Ultimate Kevin arc. After the road trip, Hope would live with Gwen for a bit in order for them both to learn more magic, but will eventually move in with Ben. A piece of Malware will have survived his fight with Ben, and will have been nursing themself back to health over the years. In the Albedo arc in OV, Ben is gonna keep the Ultimatrix, so he and Albedo will go toe to toe with various ultimate aliens. Yes, Kevin and Gwen are still going to college in Omniverse, whilst Ben works as a Plumber, father and eventually, husband. Glad this story has you so excited.

….

One thing I tried to do is make sure Cannonbolt doesn't reveal his name until later on. Like with the other aliens in the first chapter, and when BuzzShock was introduced, we get to see Ben name them.

Up next is Framed, which I'm excited to do. A certain change in that chapter will be that Gwen isn't so quick to judge Ben when she and Max see Kevin as FourArms attacking.

One thing I try to do is make every chapter above 3,000 words, and as close to 4,000 as I can.
