It started with an alien device that did what it did. It stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid. Now he's got super powers, he's no ordinary kid. He's Ben 10! My retelling of the Ben 10 series, with various changes throughout the story, including: mild cursing, some mild violence, skipped and altered episodes, etc. New chapters (almost) every Tuesday

17. Chapter 17

Ben 10: Alien Rebirth

Chapter 17: Gwen 10

Ben slowly wakes up with a yawn inside the RustBucket.

He looks out the window. It seems that they are stopped at a gas station.

Ben goes out to see Max finishing up filling the RV with gas, and Gwen drinking a beverage. But Ben felt that something was off. Max wasn't wearing his hat, and Gwen had a different shirt on.

But suddenly, criminals with masks come out of the gas station!

One of them removes their mask and before they're ready to leave, Ben appears out of nowhere.

Ben, "hey, maybe you wanna give that stuff back?"

Max, "Ben! Get back in the RV!"

But Ben ignores Max and says, "let's see how you like dealing with FourArms."

But as Ben smacks his wrist, he realizes something. The Omnitrix is gone!

Ben, "what the!? Where's the watch?!"

The biker robbers are ready to attack Ben as Max yells, "don't just stand around! Move!"

Max knocks one of them down by whipping him off his bike with the gasoline hose.

The second one comes, and this time, Max uses a garbage bin to knock him down.

They finish them off, but as they're ready to leave, Ben asks, "but wait, where did the watch go?!"

Max, "watch? Ben, what're you talking about?"

Ben can't ask anything further as he and Gwen are pulled into the RustBucket, they drive off and the police come to take the criminals to jail.

….

In the RV, Gwen praises Max for what he did earlier.

Gwen, "you were amazing out there Grandpa! You took down those guys so fast!"

Ben, however, worries where the Omnitrix went and searches for it.

Ben, "it has to be here somewhere! Grandpa, where is the watch?!"

Max, "watch? Ben, I picked you up just a few hours ago, and you weren't wearing a watch or anything."

Ben, "is the heat getting to both of you? I'm talking about the Omnitrix."

Grandpa Max stares suspiciously.

Gwen, "I'll help you look for it. So, uh, what does it look like?"

Ben, "what are you talking about? The Omnitrix. Big watch that glows green? I found it on our first day of the summer?"

Gwen, "uh, Ben, today is the first day of summer?"

Ben, "that can't be right! Just a few days ago we fought Vilgax at Mount Rushmore!"

Max immediately loses control of the RV, but regains control.

Max, "how do you know that name?!"

Gwen, "wait, Grandpa, do you know what Ben is talking about?"

Max quickly parks the RustBucket and gets out of his seat to stand in front of Ben and Gwen.

Max, "Ben, how do you know about Vilgax?"

Ben, "we fought him! Don't you remember? At Mount Rushmore, at the old Plumber base!"

Gwen, "why would plumbers have a base?"

Ben, "the Plumbers are intergalactic heroes! You told us all about it and your old team Grandpa!"

Max held a tense look as he asked, "if you know about that, say the names of my team?"

Ben, "Phil Billings, Rook kai, Palliday, Grandma Xylene, and your last partner was-"

Ben and Max, "-Devin Levin."

All three of them looked at one another in total shock.

Gwen, "okay, we need to have a serious talk."

….

Meanwhile, in space, the same fight against Vilgax's ship and the smaller blue ship was taking place.

The smaller ship launched the Omnitrix to Earth and crashed in a colder climate, and Vilgax's ship was damaged.

But there was a big difference this time. Vilgax wasn't mortally wounded during the battle!

Instead, he was able to get to safety before then!

More evidence that things were much different this time.

….

In the RV, Ben continues to explain everything to Max and Gwen.

All of their battles they went through before time had seemingly gone backwards. The Kraken, Dr. Animo, Hex, the Limaxes, Kevin, the MegaWatts, the Big Tick, Clancy the bug guy, the Forever Knights, and of course, Vilgax.

Gwen, "so if you went through all of that, what's going on?"

Ben, "I guess I've somehow gone back in time, and there's a few changes to everything."

Max, "well, we'll figure it out soon. For now, we're here!"

They have arrived at their campsite and Gwen seems to enjoy the spot.

Gwen, "it's beautiful here."

Ben, "this is where you used to take Grandma Xylene, right?"

Max, "er, right. I'm gonna have to get used to that."

Ben, "this is supposed to be the night I found the Omnitrix. Maybe if I find it again, everything will go back to normal? Ya know, repeating it all?"

Gwen, "maybe, but for now, let's set up camp."

Ben, "agreed."

And so, the trio begin building up camp.

Gwen went to go get firewood as Ben and Max set up the tents.

As Ben helps Max out, he notices the shooting star that holds the Omnitrix.

Ben runs off as Max calls out, "Ben! Come back!"

Ben makes it to the impact site, he finds the pod that held the device gone.

Ben, "what the?! No, no, no! Where is it?"

But then Ben sees what happened.

Gwen is trying to get the watch off of her wrist!

Ben, "no! I'm too late!"

Gwen, "is this the Omnitrix you were telling us about?"

Ben, "yeah. That's it."

Gwen, "well, how do I get it off?"

Ben, "you can't. It bonds to your DNA, and it's pretty much stuck there!"

Gwen then activated the watch.

Ben, "Gwen, be careful, that's not a toy. It's the most dangerous thing in the galaxy."

Gwen shrugs him off, activates the Omnitrix, and transforms into a female Pyronite! She looks like HeatBlast, but with a slimmer figure.

Gwen, "woah! I'm on fire! But, I'm okay?"

Ben, "that's HeatBlast. One of the aliens you can turn into. Just be careful not to start a fire, even a small one."

G-HeatBlast, "oh please, only an idiot would do that."

Ben chuckles nervously.

G-HeatBlast experiments with her powers and she uses her firepower to spell Gwen with fire in the sky!

Ben, "woah! How did you do that? It took me ages to get that trick down!"

G-HeatBlast shrugs, "so, Ben, what other aliens does this thing have on it?"

Ben thinks for a moment, and then gives a devious grin.

….

Back in space, a pod has been released from Vilgax's ship and is headed down to Earth.

With the same mission as before; get the Omnitrix.

….

Meanwhile, Ben seems to have fun with Gwen, having transformed her into GreyMatter. She was wearing a tiny version of her outfit, and a small tuft of red hair on her head.

She is terrorized by a raccoon!

G-GreyMatter, "Ben! This ain't funny! Help me out here!"

As the raccoon chases G-GreyMatter, Ben laughs at G-GreyMatter's attempt in running away from it.

Ben then grabs her, scaring the racoon away.

G-GreyMatter, "you jerk!"

Ben, "alright, I'm sorry. I just needed a good laugh after everything that's happened."

Ben holds G-GreyMatter and begins to explain the Omnitrix.

Ben, "there's around ten aliens already on it, but you'll eventually unlock more. Each one has different abilities I had to learn. Now-"

But before he can continue, suddenly, the same pod that was sent out by Vilgax arrives on Earth, but lands where Ben and Gwen were.

They both grow wide-eyed as they see it transform into a giant robot drone and it seems to be looking for the Omnitrix.

Ben hides G-GreyMatter behind him, so the drone doesn't spot the Omnitrix and begins making its way towards the other campgrounds.

G-GreyMatter, "what do we do?"

Ben, "wait for the watch to time out. After that, I know just the alien for you to use…."

….

Later, at a nearby campground, the drone attacks the area to flush out the holder of the Omnitrix.

Suddenly, several crystal shards hit the drone!

The drone turns to see Ben and a female DiamondHead arrive.

G-DiamondHead is wearing a blue and white version of Ben's outfit, and has softer edges to their crystals.

The drone senses the Omnitrix on G-DiamondHead and it attacks her.

Max sees G-DiamondHead and says, "Gwen?"

G-DiamondHead, "hey Grandpa. Now, let me take care of this ugly thing."

G-DiamondHead runs off to fight the drone! When she gets near, the drone tries to pull off G-DiamondHead's arm!

Ben, "slice it and dice it!"

G-DiamondHead breaks free due to Ben's advice, slicing her way out!

While G-DiamondHead fights the giant robot drone, Max pulls Ben to safety.

Max, "Ben, you're in danger. We need to get you and the other people to safety", as they watch G-DiamondHead, Max thinks aloud, "wow, Gwen is doing pretty good in combat! And she's a quick thinker!"

Ben looks down and thinks, 'yeah. Compared to me, she's much better.'

G-DiamondHead then destroys the drone by reflecting its lasers off of her diamonds, and blasting it into bits!

She runs off as the other people camping get to safety, and Ben and Max follow after her.

….

Back at Vilgax's ship, Vilgax finds that his droid is completely destroyed.

Vilgax, "hmmm. The holder of the Omnitrix must be cunning and strong. I must go to Earth myself, if I am to finally retrieve the Omnitrix!"

….

Back at the RV's camping site, Ben is awakened by Max's snoring. Gwen is outside, and Ben goes to see what she's up to.

Ben, "yawn, what're you doing up so early?"

Gwen, "I never went to bed. First, I was a high-tech alien and merged with my laptop to triple its processing speed, and then I turned into this fish creature to catch us some lunch, then I became this speed alien to go home and pick up some clothes I forgot to pack."

Ben, "so you used Upgrade, RipJaws and XLR8. Gwen, the Omnitrix isn't a toy to be used for fun."

Gwen, "oh, nonsense. I saw an old bowling alley near here! Let's go check it out!"

As Gwen runs off, Ben follows and says, "now I know how she felt when I did these kinds of things!"

….

Back at Vilgax's ship, a nearby monitor comes up in front of him to show him where the Omnitrix most likely is.

….

At the bowling alley, Gwen is now her version of FourArms, who has long hair, and more feminine armor compared to Ben's.

She managed to hit multiple strikes using this alien, and yells it every time she gets one.

"STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!"

Ben tries bowling, but he gets a gutter ball.

G-FourArms reverts back to Gwen and sees that Ben seems to be disappointed.

Gwen, "Ben, are you okay?"

Ben, "sigh, no. I'm not. I used to feel special when I wore that watch. Like I actually made a difference. And it felt good to get better and better at using it. It took me ages to get good at using my aliens. But now, it's like all of my hard work has been erased! And you're so much better with the Omnitrix then I am in just a day! You didn't accidentally start a fire, you took down that robot in no time flat! And it makes me wonder…. Should you have gotten it from the very beginning?"

Gwen held a sad look as she heard her cousin express his feelings like this.

Gwen, "Ben-"

But before they could do anything else, Vilgax arrives in a giant spiked ball!

Ben recognised the ball all too well.

Gwen tries to reactivate the Omnitrix, but no luck.

Ben, "it's timed out!"

Vilgax exits the balls, and Ben notices he's smaller than when they fought, another difference between what happened for Ben the first time.

Vilgax, "give me the Omnitrix, you insolent brat!"

Ben tries to attack him with a sharpened board from the wall, but is thrown back and hits the wall, knocking him out!

Vilgax grabs Gwen and takes her away.

Gwen, "Ben! Help!"

But it's too late, the ship takes off!

Max arrives in the RV and picks up Ben from the severely damaged bowling alley.

….

Later in the RV, Ben has woken up and tells Max what happened.

Ben, "Vilgax attacked us while Gwen couldn't use the watch! We've gotta save her!"

Max, "we will. Just be glad you remember what happened when you were the one with the Omnitrix. What's he gonna do?"

Ben, "he's gonna try to get it off of Gwen so he can use it and form an army of shape-shifting aliens!"

Max, "not if I can help it. If I stopped him once, I can stop him again!"

Ben, "to Mount Rushmore?"

Max, "to Mount Rushmore."

….

In Vilgax's ship, Gwen is strapped to an extraction device and Vilgax prepares to remove the Omnitrix from Gwen.

Gwen, "er, maybe you could just slip this thing off?!"

Vilgax, "oh? But where's the fun in that? It will be a pleasure to see you in pain! Pilot, prepare for takeoff!"

….

As the RV drives through the path that the giant ball made, Max opens a compartment where a small handgun is kept.

He gives it to Ben.

Max, "just in case."

Ben, "thanks. This'll definitely help."

As they arrive at Vilgax's ship, Vilgax is ready to remove the Omnitrix.

The RV smashes through the wall, shocking Vilgax!

Max exits while holding the large gun.

He shouts, "get away from my Granddaughter!"

Gwen, "Grandpa!"

Vilgax, "Tennyson!"

Max shoots his weapon, though Vilgax dodges the blast; due to his slim and more athletic build. Vilgax then slices the weapon in half.

While Max and Vilgax fight each other, Max using an armored gauntlet to block most of the attacks, Ben comes up to Gwen to help her out. He uses a large slab of metal to break the bonds holding Gwen, freeing her from her confinement!

Max is then launched close to them by Vilgax, who is glaring down at them.

Ben then grabs the weapon and blasts Vilgax with a rather powerful burst of energy that hits some of the ship's inner components!

A great surge goes through the ship, and hits Gwen, spinning her around and around!

Gwen, "agh! Getting dizzy!"

The surge unlocks something within the watch, and it jumps off of Gwen as she falls to the ground!

Ben sees the watch flying through the air!

Maybe his last chance to go back to before. But as he tries to grab it, he just barely misses it as it ends up on Max instead!

Ben, "no! Now I'll never be a hero again!"

Max, "you just were. As Ben. Not everyone can get a hit on Vilgax."

Ben smiles at his grandpa.

The ship begins shaking, indicating it was about to crash!

Ben gets an idea!

Ben, "Grandpa, use Upgrade!"

Max, "Upgrade? Which one's that?"

Ben helps show Max how to use the watch, flipping through until they land on the silhouette of Upgrade. Ben presses down, and in a green light, Max has turned into Upgrade. His version is a bit bigger, and has slightly faded black and green, indicating they were older.

M-Upgrade, "what now?"

Ben, "now, we get outta here!"

….

Moments later, we see that M-Upgrade has merged with the Rustbucket, and is flying away from the ship. But unluckily, Vilgax is able to hang onto the RV after they ram him, though Upgrade pops a hand out from the side and throws him in the air.

M-Upgrade, "get off my planet, You squid-faced monster!"

Ben then uses the blaster to send him back to his ship, and they seemingly end Vilgax's life, as well as destroy his ship in a huge explosion!

The RustBucket lands on the ground, and

M-Upgrade reverts back into Max after unmerging from the RV, who says, "I could get used to this."

But just then, something unexpected happened! Before all three of them, a blue portal of some kind opens up!

Stepping out of the portal was a man in a lab coat, and brown pants with a brown scarf, goggles and a brown Irish cap covering his face. He is holding an old pocket watch in his hands.

Ben, "what the...?"

Max, "who are you?"

The man replied, "I cannot tell you my name just yet. It's quite a 'paradox' if I do say so."

Ben, "well, what are you?"

The man said, "in short, I am a time traveler. One who has a duty to fix things."

Gwen, "well, what're you doing here?"

The man, "like I said, I have come to fix things. You see, some form of anomaly occurred in the space time continuum, and I have come to bring your Benjamin back to his own timeline."

Max, "what?"

The man, "well, this anomaly caused the Ben of your world, and this Ben here to switch places. You come from a universe where you received the Omnitrix, but instead, all of this happened."

Max, "so, this isn't time travel?"

The man, "no. Rather, switching places. Once I take this Ben back home, your Ben will arrive, and everything will be as it should have been. Alright?"

Max, Gwen and Ben were confused, but accepted the man's words as Ben entered the portal with him and….

….

…. Ben found himself staring at the RustBucket as Max and Gwen stared at him. They looked like HIS Max and Gwen.

Ben, "so, did you guys meet a version of me who was from another universe?"

Max and Gwen nodded as Ben said, "well, let me tell you what I went through…."

And thus ends another odd adventure for our heroes. In two universes, no less!

OMNISENSE95: Ben will be the one to finally get Kevin to see reason during the Negative 10 arc. As for Hope learning xenobiology? No. Her whole schtick is MAGIC. Gwen is the one who knows a lot about science AND magic. Hope is all magic. So her being into xenobiology, which I'd never even heard of before until now, would make no sense!

Guest: Ben MAY scan Rook at some point. But no. Albedo will not appear in any capacity until Alien Force, since it would make no sense if he did.

Omnicaster: yes, we'll see new aliens over time. But as for Hope having a favorite alien…. No. She wouldn't have a favorite alien, since she loves BEN. Not the Omnitrix.

Guest: no, I never really got that vibe from Kevin.

Tippy 1.1: I didn't know he used quick change that soon. I'm gonna have him unlock it the same as canon then. And yeah, Duped is gonna have some major changes. Ben only makes two clones. The aggressive one goes with Kevin while the nice one stays at the tennis match to support Julie. Ben will turn into 10 clones at the end of the episode and will use this ability more often. Glad you like Lumi's name. And I love the dialogue ideas! The Dagon arc will go on for a bit longer, and Ben's fight against Dagon/Vilgax, will have him turn into every single alien he's unlocked thus far while wielding the sword. As for your most recent review, a couple of things. 1. I have seen the And Beyond epiaode and found it quite interesting. 2. Legerdomain isn't gonna be featured that much after it's introduction. Namely since every episode with it after it's first appearance, Hope is the villain, and thus the episodes' plots would make no sense. One episode has Hope killing a bunch of people, including the main trio, to bring her father back. Since I'm skipping or heavily altering most episodes where Hope is a villain, my plans for Leger Domain are gonna be a lot different than canon as of right now. Though that may change in the future. Still, Legerdomain in this story is going to be almost entirely different to canon in terns of lore and history. My thoughts were to have it be a simple pocket dimension created by Spellbinder, Hope's mother and Hex. Adwata found his way there and took over. Hope and Hex escaped, and Hex will gain a redemption arc, as returning to Leger Domain will clear his mind and he'll be the one to stay behind instead of Hope. 3. Yeah, I'm gonna set up Gwen and Kevin going to college. 4. I'm not gonna wait until Omniverse season 1's finale to show Ben going Ultimate. Why keep the function if he ain't gonna use it all season? Whenever Ben goes Ultimate, which is gonna be a lot more than canon, it'll be important. Like, he will use Ultimate Big Chill in the temple of Nechrofriggins. 5. No, Ben is NOT gonna say, "Ben 10 at your service", in Tough Luck, since he's trying to keep his identity a secret! Not blurt it out loud! 6. I already planned on Tough Luck being after Grudge Match but before The Galactic Enforcers. Sorry if I sounded a little rude, but a good chunk of your ideas are not gonna happen in this story regarding Legerdomain, the Ultimates and such.

shriramasokan: I still planned on using most of the character's you listed, since the episodes including ones like Kai, Todd, Andy and Mandy integral to the story, except for Eddie grandsmith and Donovan grandsmith. I'm skipping their episode entirely. As for asking me to make Julie Ben's gf in this story…. Have you seen the description or pairing? Ben and Hope are the main couple! Not Ben and Julie! Ben and Julie WILL be a couple in a future story…. But not this one, dude! It'd make no sense, since the main couple is already set in stone!

Guest: glad you enjoyed the chapter and most of the changes I added in. Steel may make more appearances later on. And as you can see, I did do Gwen 10!

This episode is mostly the same, except that the ending has Ben getting back to his own timeline where he got the watch, a more dramatic speech from Ben in the bowling alley, and of course, right from the bat, Ben convinces Max and Gwen that Ben has somehow crossed into an alternate universe or something.

We'll end up revisiting this world during Omniverse. When Eon and Vilgax travel to different AU's to kill every Ben, our Ben has to put a stop to them.

He will end up visiting the world's of Ben 23, Gwen 10, Max 10, Ben 10,000, Benzarro, Bad Ben, Nega Ben, Proto-Ben, No-Watch Ben, and finally face the villains with the help of these AU counterparts. We'll also see different ships in these AU's, so just wait and see!

Also, I currently have a poll up for a Batman Arkham AU story. The story is a harem story, and the poll is to decide who, aside from Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman will be in the harem. Vote now!
