(PST I UPDATED THE FIRST CHAPTER! I rewrote it wink, wink, wink. Feel free to check it out, nudge, nudge.)

Also,

huh. Ever wonder what happened to Butler?

(also, spoilers for Butler's first name)

(Exactly two months ago)

Butler couldn't help but to worry about his charge. Artemis had enemies in America, afterall (something that Fowl Senior himself should also know about- that is, if he wasn't insisting on forgetting anything to do with his previously criminal lifestyle… that in itself was strange.) Beside that, he was also inexplicably concerned about Angeline. Certainly she had a history of mental illness and personality changes, but something seemed off about this situation. Whether it was further instability on her part or something else entirely, Butler wasn't entirely sure. However, he wasn't about to let the family go unguarded, no matter what their wishes were.

Afterall, it wasn't the first time in history the family had requested to be unguarded while on 'vacation.' It had been a couple decades since the last time, give or take, but it had been an absolute disaster. In fact, the entire family had nearly perished. Little did the Fowl's know that ever since that incident, every Butler of the family was trained to disregard such an order if the situation warranted it. It wasn't just Artemis that was a danger magnet; it was the whole family for crying out loud!

Letting out a snort, Butler stepped onto a private jet set on course for America (as soon as he knew Artemis and the rest of the family had arrived at their destination safely, that is. As much as he'd wanted to leave sooner, Domovoi had to prepare the private jet first.) Pausing, he turned around to face his little sister, who looked more than a little put out.

"Juliet, if anything, and I mean anything goes wrong, I want you to call me. If you can't get in touch with me for some reason, then contact the LEP," he warned her. She sighed.

"Of course… But, I just don't see why I can't come with you," Juliet said, face pinched with annoyance.

The elder Butler rubbed his eyes, suddenly feeling tired. He knew his sister was more than capable of this task, but they couldn't exactly leave the manor unguarded. With their security systems, the house would most likely be fine… but with the fairies in consideration, the protections set up might as well be nothing. Unfortunately, he just couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

"Juliet, the house cannot be unprotected while everyone is gone. As much as I'd like for you to come, if only to have backup, someone has to stay here," the older brother explained. Butler wasn't fully satisfied with the situation himself, however, unusual times called for unfamiliar methods.

After a moment, her irritation deflated for the most part, and she let out a small sigh. "I know. Just be careful, okay? And promise to bring me along next time!" The blonde exclaimed, punching him roughly on the arm.

Wincing, Butler nodded before getting on the plane. He knew without even looking that his arm would bruise. Perhaps, one day, he could convince Artemis to learn to punch like that. Sure, he'd given him some basic (and highly necessary) training in the past, but his charge's punches had always been somewhat half-hearted.

Little did he know that the teen was going to find the motivation to learn by himself…

And Butler wouldn't even be there for it.

As the plane got closer to its destination, Butler started going over his supplies. He hadn't brought his complete arsenal, seeing as this was a stealth mission. However, he still had his favorite gun, some extra ammo, knives, and two different stashes of cash on his person just in case he needed something. It never hurt to be prepared.

While this jet was faster than a public airplane, he'd still been on the plane for almost an entire day. He'd most likely arrive after sunset- just as the family settled into their vacation house for the night. It would give him plenty of time to set up camp nearby. Given, it was without their knowledge or consent, but what the Fowl family didn't know wouldn't hurt them… that is, as long as he knew of any threats first. Even if they did find out about his undercover protection, they couldn't really give him much trouble about it either, as he was only fulfilling his contract and vow.

Suddenly, the plane started to shudder. Alarmed, Domovoi ran to look out of the window only to see something horrifying: The right wing of the plane was covered in gouges, even starting to smoke.

Running into the cockpit, he turned the plane off of autopilot and took control. With some careful maneuvering, he might yet make it out of this. However, the mansurvent was caught off guard when something brown and fuzzy hit his windshield. For a moment, he stared in bewilderment as its face turned to look him in the eyes. The dog-like creature gave him a wolfish grin, before releasing its grip on the window and flying away.

Needless to say... Birds were notsupposed to look like that.

Steeling himself as the plane started falling, Butler was reminded of the many adventures he'd had over the years. It would take more than this to kill him. Obviously, those "wolf" birds had no idea who they were messing with… and if they did, than they were more stupid than he thought; nothing would stop him from completing his mission. However, with the plane under direct attack, his previous plan would have to change.

Putting the plane back on autopilot (not that it would help, as it was currently plummeting), he rushed to grab a parachute. Pausing, he got out his gun and made sure it was fully loaded- it wouldn't do for him to fire it, and find the thing empty. Looking around at the inside of the plane with a grimace (while losing the plane would hardly dent the Fowl's cash reserves, Artemis had worked hard for that money; he had no desire to waste it) Butler grimaced, before putting on the bulky backpack and opening the door.

Without a trace of hesitation, he leapt.

As he fell from the sky, Butler dove forward to quicken his fall. Unfortunately, his departure from the flying object hadn't gone unnoticed. The flying dogs started closing in on him. Twisting to the side, Butler aimed his Sig Sauer at the closest eraser and shot it out of the sky. The other wolves yiped in fear, as they had been promised an easy, and most importantly, unarmed target. A couple flew forward anyway, determined to complete the mission. Afterall, this human couldn't have that good aim- especially when plummeting from the freaking sky. However, they were soon proven wrong as they too ended up getting shot. Instead of risking death, the rest of the pack decided to retreat back to safety. Afterall, gravity would take care of their target easily. Maybe if they had decided to stick around, they would have realized this wouldn't be the case.

Butler, faced with bigger issues such as the ground that was getting closer every second, let his attackers go. Unfortunately, he did not have the time to take out so many at once if he didn't want to become a pancake. Quickly, the manservant assumed the arch position to slow his fall (AN: basically, this is belly facing towards the ground and chin facing forward to slow ones fall.) Once his descent slowed to a more steady one, he pulled the string attached to the pack he'd grabbed. Instantly, a puffy sheet flew out, slowing his fall even further; however, his ride wasn't over yet.

Even though he was falling more slowly, Domovoi was still above a vast forest. If he landed in the wrong spot, he could get speared by a tree. Looking around the ground carefully, he aimed towards a clearing up ahead. After a few minutes, he got closer to his destination and prepared for impact. In his opinion, Butler was still coming in a bit too fast- but he could still make it.

Flinging forward, he skittered across the forest floor before the parachute got caught in a tree. Pulling the backpack off, he landed on some decomposing leaves. As he was brushing himself off, the sound of metal being obliterated reached his ears. Ah. So the plane had also landed. Pulling out his phone and clicking on maps, Butler winced. It was going to take him longer than expected to get to the Fowl's vacation home. Especially since he was across the entire state.

Nevertheless, Domovoi had been attacked. That only made his mission much more urgent than before. He had no idea what exactly those dog mutants were, let alone who they were working for. However, one thing was certain: the Fowl family was in danger. He did what all Butler's had been trained to do in a situation such as this:

He started moving.

(Two days later)

After an unbelievable amount of walking, two bus rides, and a sad mugging attempt, Butler was finally at the town that Angelina had planned to go to. Pulling out a paper map he purchased the previous day, he walked to the edge of the town, towards a hidden trail. After jogging for almost ten minutes, he passed some semi-charred pine trees. Confused, he stopped, briefly, to examine them. His gut told him that these were recent; the wood still even held a warmth. Glancing around, he realized that many of the trees in this area were also burnt- some, even charcoal. Alarmed, he ran towards where the house was supposed to be...

Only to find burnt ruins.

Butler fell to his knees.

"Artemis… no…"

He was too late.

About 1466 words. Not the most I've written, but this is pretty filler. As a reader, I hate filler chapters! That being said, I would love to stick to Artemis's POV. However, I felt like this was a very important chapter to include. I kept thinking to myself, "why would Butler leave Artemis? Even if Angeline insisted he not go, Butler is practically a second father to the kid!"

So this chapter was born. Originally, Butler was supposed to stick at the manor and team up with the fairies, but when I started writing this chapter, I realized that I couldn't do that.

Not to Butler.

So now, I have to alter some of my future plot points. Overall, I can't help but to be happy with the changes though! This adds some possibilities I didn't think of before. Let's just say we can definitely expect to see Butler in the future!

Sorry if this wasn't the chapter you were hoping for. I know my updates are sparse, but I will not give up this story. The first time I thought of writing this, I was practically a little kid. Heck, I might have even been in elementary school. Now, I am a fulltime college student, so WOW. I am still learning a lot, but I love this fandom too much to give up.

That being said, thank you so much for your patience! I appreciate all who read this unconventional crossover even if you don't leave a review. I hope you like it! Also, feel free to pm me if you have any questions!
