Duke wasn't sure what he was doing. Torturing himself? That was definitely part of it. He watched the guests as they exited the car, the air rife with the laughter and the celebration of love. Duke noticed there were a few faces that had been at his and Rose's own wedding and he was surprised that there was no bitterness in the thought.
There had been bitterness, once, but now, there was a wave of nostalgia and sadness.
He watched as Rachelle helped Rose out of the car, the simple dress for her garden wedding stark contrast to the elaborate one she'd worn for their traditional church wedding.
Duke walked away when he heard the music start.
He could forgive and he could move on. He could be glad for her happiness. But he couldn't watch her say her vows to someone else.
