Jake asks Rose about her nightmares and how she feels after knowing that she has been lived two different lives. Set in the Duke universe.

When Jake awoke the next morning, Rose was already awake. She was sitting on the couch in his studio apartment and he approached her carefully. It was their first morning after together and he wondered if she was thinking of him or if she was thinking of her husband.
Jake sat down next to her and she didn't turn her head to look at him. Jake's heart sank.
"What are you thinking of?" Jake asked.
"I slept very peacefully next to you," Rose said awkwardly. "I never sleep peacefully."
"You mentioned dreams before," Jake said.
"Nightmares, really. I'd wake up and feel like dying. Even after I met you and understood what they were all about, they didn't stop. They just got worse and more detailed. And, then, I fell asleep next to you and I was relaxed all night. I slept … I - I - Everything makes sense when I'm next to you," Rose confessed. "Even when it doesn't."
"Are you upset at all that I brought it all back? I know the Huntsgirl wasn't the easiest life to lead."
"It's better to understand," Rose said. "It's better with you."
Rose took his hand and Jake held on tightly. It was better with her too.
