Author's note: Finally! I am back after a looooong wait to see the second half of season 5, I can finally write again! Woooo! If you haven't seen it, I gotta tell you, It's one of those times you better have alcohol, tissues, something to cuddle with, or what ever on hand while watching it. Trust me it's needed. I'm still recovering from the season.
And I came to a realization that I never actually updated the first installment like I thought I did. That's what get for having so many files open of the same chapter trying to figure out what changes to make or even paying attention to what version I picked. But to hell with it cause that's just too much work and I really don't wanna go though that again.
Anyway here we go into Season 5 Part 2
God stood at the top of the steps looking at his 3 sons, wings out looking back at him. They soon put their wings away and Amenadiel spoke up, "Father. You're here." God started walking down the steps. "Well, you've got my attention." Michael being a natural suck up greeted his father, "Oh, Father, thank you for coming. You- you saw how they were attacking me? And look what Lucifer did to my face." Lucifer called out his brother naturally, "Yes, of course, oh, this is my fault. Go on, Go ahead, Dad, blame it all on me, like always."
"No, Father, this is all my fault. I lost control and froze time, and as the eldest brother I should have kept a better handle on my siblings. I'm truely sorry." Amenadiel spoke up. While the boys were squabbling about their father God spoke up, "I don't care who's at fault- I just want my son's getting along. Regardless of what's happened, we're family. Let's act like it."
Meanwhile during the family squabble in front of God, Selene was still frozen in time, but it wasn't long until time restarted. Selene snapped out of her frozen state and herd the sounds of shattered glass, she looked around in confusion as to what happened to Lucifer. Selene hurried out to see glass everywhere and tried to make sense on what happened, but her biggest worry was finding Lucifer. Selene checked around and asked around but she had no luck finding him.
She left the precinct confused about everything that was going on. She could still hear the conversation in her head replaying the moment over and over just wanting answers on why he was there then poof. She pulled out her phone and thought about calling him, but she sighed and thought about giving him some time to come to her when he was ready. She cleared her screen on her phone, then went on with the rest of her day and hopefully hear from him later or she would drop by before work to see if he was home.
That night Lucifer was partying it up in Lux with his guests, blowing off steam after encountering his Father. It was Lively in the club when Selene arrived, She saw Lucifer having fun partying hard. He never got in touch with her like she hoped, not even a apology text. Selene approached Lucifer. "Lucifer!" She said when the music was over, "Can we talk? Please." Selene was trying to keep her composure, Lucifer down the drink and smiled, "Darling, where have you been?" Selene stared him down with a serious look, "Can we talk?" Selene grabbed him and pulled him off to the side, Lucifer willingly letting her drag him along.
"Ok, Luce. Spill. What is going on with you? Why didn't you ever finish talking to me at the precinct? What the hell happened to you?" Selene was blurting out questions fearlessly "I know you were in the middle of telling me something, next thing I know you're gone." Lucifer felt bad he forgot about her, after his dad showed up and having to beat up Michael and Maze. "Selene, I'm so sorry. I needed to get away. I just couldn't take it anymore." Selene wasn't understanding what he meant, "Take what anymore? We were having a moment... or least I thought we were having a moment." Lucifer scoffed "People! Telling me what to do, especially-"
Selene was confused what Lucifer was talking about and thought about it, "Did I...say something wrong?" Selene was confused with his behavior, "No, No, Selene, I'm so sorry." a worried look crept on her face, "Maybe I got too pushy, to wanting to know you're feelings. It wasn't fair of me to do so, so if this is what it's about I should be the one sorry, not you I put you on the spot." Lucifer was now confused on her words, "But that's not the reason I left-" Selene shook her head "It's fine, Lucifer, I'm use to this with you. I understand that I should just give you sometime, and when you are ready to speak you know where to find me." She leaned into him to give him a kiss, "Most important thing is I know that you're alright. I know I shouldn't have worry so much about you, but I do. I should go, good night Lucifer." Lucifer watched and then sighed when she walked away, he chugged his drink and continue to party all night.
The next day Police were near by Selene's bar, there had been a murder, and Lucifer was there watching Selene from a distance having a smoke break, he knew this time of day Selene was doing dance lessons. God was behind Lucifer seeing exactly who he was looking at across the street, "What are you going to say to her, son? Something romantic?" Lucifer turned around to see his father, "You have that look on your face. Well, not anymore." Lucifer stepped before his father. "Why do you care? Why even ask? You're all knowing, don't you already know the answer?"
God kept a straight poker face to Lucifer, "hmm. Father's intuition" Lucifer scoffed, "Why are you still here? Isn't the universe gonna collapse with you here, on Earth?" God put his hand on Lucifer "I've come to ask you something." Lucifer looked at his father perplexed, "Alright. Well, go on." He was wondering what his dad's reasoning is to be here on Earth of all time. "I'd like for you to join me. For a family dinner." Lucifer laughed like it was joke, "Yeah? Well, No. Pass. Hard pass." he tried to walk away from his father. "Son. I don't wanna leave Earth until we've talked."
"Well, then enjoy a eternity on earth then, because there is no way I'm sitting down for anything absurd or torturous as a family dinner. I've already done my time in Hell. Remember?" Lucifer walked away angry. God watched Selene from a distance, he made a mental note to come back here and talk to her, then he decided to head back to Linda's house to get family dinner started up and ready, as well as spend time with his grand son.
Meanwhile Selene was going back to work just as people were leaving due to dance lessons were over and it was time for rehearsals, when the girls noticed Selene wasn't quite there today with the work. Elise "Ok Sel, you have been flakey since you got kidnapped, what's going on with you?" Selene let out a sigh, "Lucifer and I seemed to have gotten in a bit of a snag in our relationship... I'm not sure if it actually is my fault or...maybe...I don't know. We were perfectly fine I mean, ok we were in a middle of having a heart to heart moment- least I think it was...- Lucifer's acting weirder then normal, but I shouldn't be surprised. I mean his twin brother Michael has been causing a real mess between us."
"Mmm. Yeah.. He has been. You and Lucifer always have some obstacle in your way, I mean look at you two when you both found out about the prophecy. You were a mess then when he went back to Hell. Michael is the icing on the cake...this time." Selene nodded, "I know, and I don't even know what to do. I mean I was hoping a tiny sliver of hope I could finally have answers i been desiring for a long time...just to be manipulated like a puppet to get to Lucifer." Selene took a drink of her peachtini, "I wish, since there is a chance God is real, maybe he can come down and tighten the leash on Michael, I just can't help but sense something big is gonna go down, I hope I'm not wrong. I know were bound to cross paths with Michael again... It's just a matter of when. God needs to get off his ass and get control before something bad happens. Trust me my Celestial senses are buzzing."
Elise sighed as she was still not use to the whole her cousin might not even be human with her powers. "I know everything's going to work out, you'll see, c'mon lets get you head in the game and you can go and try to get a heart to heart chat with Lucifer." Selene nodded and downed her drink, "You're absolutely right, I need to focus I can't worry about if I have a boyfriend or not, ok things are overwhelming for Lucifer I'm going to let him know tonight, just what his on my mind and I hope he will respond to my feelings." Still things that Michael said and Lucifer's changes means something but she really wanted to get Lucifer to break his walls and just be open with her.
That night Selene got a text from Lucifer to meet him at the wishing well in town, Selene was all for meeting with Lucifer at the fountain, so once she parked she walked up to him, "Hey." She smiled at him as he looked at her, "Hello." Selene took a deep breath and gave him a hard look in the eye, " I should be giving you space but, well, I wanted to finish what we had started to talk about. I know things are crazy right now that it's overwhelming, and I know you got issues to deal with Michael and everything. But... can we take the time to focus on us?" Lucifer looked at her vexed on where her mind is at with their relationship.
"Selene, you have been very patient and I'm sorry I left you there, I...," He looked at her and sighed summoning up the courage to tell her," I know.. you deserve to hear those three words back." Selene looked at him warmly, but then she noticed something about him was off just the way he sounded. He took her hand in his holding it, caressing the back of her hand with his thumb, "The truth is... I'll never be able to say them to you." Selene felt a lump in her throat as that fear Michael poked at was starting to slip though. "You see, Selene, I've realized... that i'm my father's son. As depressing as it is, it explains... so much. But it also means, that like him, I am incapable of love."
Selene looked confused on where this revelation came from, "Lucifer. That can't be true. I know you." Lucifer looked at her like the night he left her for hell, and Selene was getting that same dreaded feeling. "I know. You know I always tell the truth." Lucifer was trying to not get emotional but he could see he was about to hurt her again, "Selene, I am sorry. If I were to say those words back... It would be a lie." Selene stood stunned by his words feeling her heart start to crack. The fear that was holding her had come true, the whole time of denying the fact she was living in a unrequited love was true, but it still didn't make sense.
she was trying to read Lucifer, to see if there was something else, an wondered if something did happen to him to make him act this way. She didn't know how to respond but her mouth betrayed her, "Maybe... Michael was right... maybe things just can't work between us after all." When Selene pulled her hand back from Lucifer's she pulled out her cigarettes and lit up, with her head down, "It is what it is." She walked away back to her car she drove off into the night in heartache trying to make sense of it all.
Selene had spent the night working at her bar, performing break up songs, channeling all her emotions into every lyric, letting the people feel her pain as if she had wrote the song herself. She knew it was going to be a long time till she healed from the pain, It was going to be one of them sleepless night's again, she hasn't had much of a good rest when Dan shot Lucifer, she couldn't really sleep, that she was starting to feel like she's having PTSD. It felt like every time she was with Lucifer, he was the one shot on more then one occasion.
By the end of the night when she got home, Selene thought about how her mothers side of the family compared to how Lucifer's is she felt sorry that she can sympathize with his family stress.
Still, Selene knows what it's like to be a outcast of the family, besides one of the Barnett family member's, otherwise the Haywood family has been shunned since her parent's wedding day. Luckily it didn't stop her from keeping in contact with her cousin Justin Barnett.
SH: Hey Justin, are you excited for Friday?
JB: Hell, yeah! I can't wait did you get the song I sent?
SH: Yeah. It actually fit's in the mood I'm in now I think I might just listen to it again.
JB: Are you ok? Do you want me to come over? I know it's late but I can be there if need me.
SH: I'm fine, My friend though... um... he's got a family problem similar to our's and I just don't know how to help.
JB: Oh? I don't even know what to tell you. I wish our family would stop all this hate, it's gotten worse since aunt Kat died, I would have loved to gotten to be around you guys more if our family wasn't so stubborn.
SH: I know. His family is too, If you were to meet his family, they bring a whole new meaning of Dysfunctional family. His one brother is cool, his other brother on the other hand, I just wanna beat some sense into him and what ever crawled up his ass to make him out to be such a straight up dick.
JB: Ouch, that bad huh. Listen, how about you join me for Luch tomarrow? My treat. I wanna spend time with my favorite cousin and we can go to my studio and maybe create our own album?
SH: I would like that, but how about we make it a coffee meet up instead, I got dance lessons and I need to set up a setlist yet for when we are on stage together.
JB: Ok, and we can discuss that too. Try and get some sleep Sel ok?
SH: Alright. I can't make promises. Good night.
Selene put her phone down on the charger, grabbed her laptop and headphones and sat it next to her bed and played some demos Justin sent her. She put the headset and hit play as she laid down and slowly let the music drift her off to sleep.
