"It's hot today" sighed a gentle voice.

"It is... at least not as bad as yesterday." replied a deeper voice. Even though everyday was hot, it was still made it a wondrous day to be outside. The sun shining over the glowing fields of wheat and soft patches of grass near the oak trees. The breeze of the nearby sea kept a tranquil scent across the meadow and the birds and other creatures explored the wonders of the day.

"Daddy, look look! See what I found!" a loud voice came from the distance. Over the hill appeared a child, hands cupped together, holding a secret. Drawing closer...

"What do you have Kya?" asked the father. A wide grin stretched across the child's face as her hands revealed a small Murback Toad. The woman shrieked at the sight as the little beast as it leapt out of Kya's hands and into the mother's lap and hopped away towards the sea.

The day was in everyway, complete perfection in every direction; sun shining, no wars, no blood shed...pure serenity.

"Is it supposed to rain today?" asked the young lady. The view of the sky was once clear and baby blue, now clouded with thunder and lightning. The clouds became darker with each breath and a musty ash smell gave life throughout the valley. A horrid scream of terror came from the child as she pointed into the distance.

Gazing into the distance, the land became ablaze, and spread with such velocity, it was a sight not meant for mortal eyes. The wildlife couldn't had any luck of fleeing, they were completely consumed by the inferno, and screams unheard of would make even deaf ears bleed.

"Kya!" the father said turning to his daughter, "run to the village, and hurry!"

With great strides and speed, the child ran towards the seafaring town in the distance. Turning back towards his wife, nowhere to be seen. Then a scream arose in the distance, as he looked upon a figure in the midst of the hell; his wife's flesh was caught ablaze and her eyes were becoming of obsidian orbs. Her hair scorched and gave off intense heat and anguish as her body bleed.

Running towards through the hot ash and coal, reached for her hand as did she, grabbing hold only to let go, as it was to intense to grasp. With one last banshee cry, her body burst into ash and blood. It scattered into the winds and bathed her husband, then flew off to the far off distance. The ground began to quake, and grew ferocious with every passing second. Turning away from the sea, an army of horrid hell-hounds wielding massive weapons bounded into his direction. Bringing forth all the power he could conjure and giving pray to Dwayna, started to strike he fiends down with powerful bolts of blue thunder. However his fury wasn't enough, for every one that was turned to a smoldering mound of black, two more repalced it.

The brigade circled the hapless man, growling ands snarling, thirsting to cleave the man of his life. A break entered in the crowded as two gave way to a shadowy figurine brandishing two awesome blades. Lifting the blades into the air, a thunderous clash and blind lightning gave way, as the man rose in a room covered in sweat. It was dark, and it was raining heavily outside.

"Daddy? I can stay with you tonight?" whispered a small child. Looking to his left, it was his daughter, much older than that in the nightmare. Nodding, the young child crawled under the covers and curled up for warmth as any child would, apparently afraid of the storm brewing.

It's only been a few years, and still I dream of the searing. Of course I can't let go, some wounds never heal. They grow worse with every sleep, and this new figure, the shadowy blademaster haunts my dreams. Why? Time is the only answer.
