Toads and Tea Parties
"More tea Winston?" asked Lola.
"Yes please," replied Winston.
"One lump of sugar or two?"
"One please,"
Lola dropped one lump of sugar into Winston's tea, she could not take her eyes off her guest. The pageant princess was still in partial shock that he had accepted her invitation to a tea party at her house. "Having a good time?"
"Yes," said Winston, looking into Lola's eyes dreamily. "You know, you have really beautiful eyes."
"Thank-"
Suddenly, Lola's tea splashed out of the glass. "Ahh!" the pageant princess shrieked.
"A frog!" exclaimed Winston.
Lola looked down to see her twin sister's pet frog standing in front of her dripping with tea. "Hops!"
"The frog has a name?" asked Winston.
"Yes, he belongs to my sister," explained Lola. "She has a ton of grody and exotic pets running all over the place."
"Well anyways, I'll help you clean this up." said Winston, reaching for a napkin from the small stack of them on the table.
"Ugh, what I would give to have just one tea party without interruption." muttered Lola, reaching for the same napkin pile.
Lola and Winston's hands both reached the napkins at the same time. Upon the contact each of them blushed. Winston recoiled his hand first, reaching now for the teapot. "Want me to pour you a new glass?" he asked.
"That would be delightful," replied Lola, her blush deepening. "And as for you mister," the pageant princess redirected her attention to Hops. "Don't think this insolence will go without repercussions."
"What are you gonna do to it-er him?" asked Winston.
"Can you hand me my ⅜ inch socket wrench?" Lana asked Skippy.
"Coming right up," Skippy replied, handing Lana the tool in question.
After tightening a few bolts, Lana crawled back out from under the engine. "That oughta do it."
"Sweet." said Skippy. "Thanks for helping me fix up my motorbike."
"No problem," said Lana. "It was an honor to work on such a cool bike."
"I'm just happy it's finally up and running again." said Skippy.
"Sure wish I had one like this."
"You're always welcome to ride mine,"
Lana blushed. "Thanks Skippy."
"After all the handyman skills you've taught me, it's the least I could offer." said Skippy. "As a matter of fact, how about you take the first spin."
"You sure?" asked Lana.
Skippy nodded.
Lana gave Skippy a smile followed by an affectionate dig in the arm. "Let's ride Hops!" the greasemonkey proclaimed. It was only then she realized her amphibian compadre was missing. "Hops? Where'd he go?"
"I thought I just saw him a few minutes ago." said Skippy.
"Come on, maybe he went back into the house." said Lana, leading Skippy into the house.
The two young mechanics checked all over the downstairs, then moved to the upstairs. "Maybe he's in my bedroom." said Lana.
Lana and Skippy walked down the hallway and entered the bedroom. "Hey Lola, have you seen Hops?" the former asked.
"Here he is!" Lola said, holding up Hops, his frog face covered in makeup.
Lana immediately noticed Hops' appearance and groaned. "Lola! Did you give Hops another makeover?"
"Um, you're welcome." replied Lola.
"Why I oughta-"
"He was swimming around in my tea, he had it coming!" shouted Lola.
"The only person who has something coming is you!" shouted Lana, tackling her twin sister. A dust cloud appeared as the twins began to fight.
Skippy and Winston stood off to the side watching the squabble.
"Women," said Winston.
"Tell me about it." replied Skippy.
