Chapter 3! I've been in a writing mood recently, so here it is, a day after chapter 2!

Thanks to fitzclaire37, Seleine16, and Jaell for reviewing!

Seleine16: Yes, you are right. One of the main elements is Lightning. I should've put "most of the core elements" , instead of "the core elements". Oops, thanks for pointing that out!

As I promised, a quick recap of what happened last, as I put tons of information in the last chapter. So, Wu and Dolion were friends, but decided to make their own ninja teams instead of working together on one. They raced to find their students before the other, Sensei Wu wanting his students for who they were, Sensei Dolion for their elements. Dolion strives for power and control, and is not a nice person. Jay was supposed to be on Sensei Wu's team, but ended up on Dolion's.

Just a quick warning: As you know, Dolion is abusive to his students, so there will be some abuse in the chapters to come, but nothing too serious.

Enjoy!

Jay (Lightning) POV

I had accidentally wiped the power in Ninjago City about...5 hours ago? Maybe 10? I don't know. As soon as I got back to base, Sensei Dolion had found out what happened. If it hadn't been all over the news, he would've seen that something was wrong, given the state I was in. Dried tears on my cheeks, large, fearful eyes, shaking hands. All things that resulted from disobeying orders or using my element without permission.

Sensei Dolion immediately dragged me into the cellar and locked the door, leaving me in the dusty, dark, rat-infested room with nothing to do. Or eat. Did I mention it was rat-infested? It sucked.

I listened for any noise, but could hear nothing. I should know that it was quiet down here, as I spent quite a lot of time in the cellar, but always hoped I would know what was going on above me. But all I could hear were the rats scurrying around, and my ragged breath.

I ate this morning, right? I think I did. It was the average meal, a cup of porridge and an apple. I probably missed lunch, though, and may miss supper. I was going to be so hungry.

I heard the cellar door open, and I stood up, quickly. Sensei Dolion climbed down the ladder, and made his way towards me. I always marveled at how my master looked, even in his old age. Strong, buff build, salt and pepper hair, and the evil grin that he wore. It was scary. I still don't get how he tricked me all that time ago…

"Have you learned your lesson yet, Lightning?" He asked, his voice sending shivers down my spine. I nodded.

"Yes, Sensei Dolion. I have learned my lesson."

"What did you learn?"

" To never use my element without permission, Sensei Dolion."

He smiled, pleased with my answer. " You missed lunch and supper, you will get breakfast in the morning. I'll give you an hour to train alone, then I'll assist you in learning Spinjitzu. That's the lesson you missed today. Understood, Lightning?"

"That's not my name." I mumbled under my breath, but I quickly followed him as he made his way out of the cellar and responded. "Understood."

Soon I was alone in the training yard, swinging my nunchucks at training dummies. It was near midnight when my sensei arrived in the training yard, sword in hand.

" Now, you will learn Spinjitzu. An ancient art, one that's mastered by few. You must feel the power that using Spinjitzu and your element gives, the power that is in you. Accept it, and do not be afraid of it. It's through acceptance that true power is revealed and Spinjitzu is unlocked."

I stood there, trying to accept the power, the potential of my element, Lightning. I remember when I was first recruited. He had told me that Lightning was one of the most powerful elements in all of Ninjago. One strike could kill anyone, could stun an enemy within seconds. But, it was also unpredictable. Without the use of lightning rods, you could never anticipate where it would go.

Sensei Dolion said I had two paths I could follow. I could be powerful, or I could be unpredictable. I want to be someone he can depend on, but I can't seem to do what he wants. Did that make me unpredictable? I didn't know. I didn't want to know.

I must've stood there for at least 5 minutes, when my master spoke up.

"Feel anything, Lightning?" I shook my head, disappointed in myself.

" We'll try again tomorrow."

I got scared. Tomorrow? With everyone else laughing at me? No, that can't happen.

" I'll keep on trying, Master. Tonight."

He turned to me abruptly, " No, Lightning! You will obey my orders and try again tomorrow! Without your team's 'encouragement', you will never get it! Because you are a failure. One step for your team is ten steps for you! The only reason you're here is because I am the only one dumb enough to try and train you! Now, go to bed!" With that, I was left alone outside.

I felt tears threaten to fall. I pushed them away. No. They couldn't escape. Then I will be seen as weak, and that could get myself thrown in the cellar again. I looked to the night sky, knowing I should go to bed, but couldn't help remember what, no, who, I was before I had accepted his offer. I was a nobody, but I had two parents who cared for me. I could eat good food. I was free. Like a Blue Jay.

The first couple days of being his student, I could tell I was being controlled. That he was trying to change me. Rip apart who I was, and put me together again, the way Dolion wanted me to be. I told myself many things, every night, to remind me who I am. Who I truly am. I am Jay Walker. I am creative. I am funny. I am loved. I am victorious.

Now, I was only Lightning, Sensei Dolion's student. And I hated it.

Kai POV

It was morning, and when I grabbed my morning coffee, I saw Cole already at the table, looking through the file containing the information on Dolion's students.

"Find anything interesting, Cole?" I asked, sitting across from him. He nodded.

"Quite a lot, actually. There's someone on his team that can animate shadows. Like, control people's shadows and make it attack them. Her name is Kiera Grey."

"Wait, her? A girl can do that?"

"Yup. You're lucky Nya didn't hear that. And, apparently, there's also a guy who can decompose anything just by the touch. Freaky, huh?"

"Like, turn bodies into dust and bone? That's really scary. And powerful." I replied, looking at the photos of the students. They seemed like normal people. The shadow girl, Kiera, had blond hair and a soft smile. She was wearing an apron in the photo. I looked at her description, and found she was a baker. Cool.

The decomposing dude's name was Daniel Devoe. He had black hair and was wearing a blacksmith outfit.

"They also have danger levels, too. For their elements." Cole pointed out, showing me a number on the page. " It's out of ten."

"And this guy has a nine? That's hard to believe." I commented. Fire was so much stronger than his element, in my opinion. Cole raised his eyebrows.

"Kai, he could kill someone just by touching them. He deserves that nine. Anyways, Shadow-Girl has a six, Jay, you know, the Lightning elementalist, has a eight. And the other two, Light and Crystal, twins, have a five and a four."

"That's weak. Why would Dolion choose the twins, if he wants a powerful team?"

Cole read over their file once again. " Apparently their father and mother are friends of his. The twins work well together, too."

Now, I was curious how we stood in the rankings with Dolion's team. "Do you know our standings?"

"Yup, I asked Sensei Wu, and he told me. I'm an eight, you, Fire, is a seven一"

Wait, I'm lower than Cole!? How? " What!" I interrupted him, furious, " How is Fire lower than Earth?"

Cole rolled his eyes. "Theoretically, I could move the Earth on which we stand, making a major earthquake, killing everyone. And you, my friend, are taken out by Water." I groaned, Okay, that did make sense. Sadly.

"Anyways, Water is a six, Ice is a five, and energy is a solid 10. Don't ask me why, but it is."

"Are you guys looking at the files?" Someone said behind me. I turned around to see my sister, all ready for morning training. Me? I was still struggling to get up.

"Hey, sis! Yup, just looking at the files."

"Cool." Nya said, taking the Master of Lightning's page. She studied it, a small blush covering her cheeks.

"Nya...are you okay?" Cole asked, possibly forgetting about her confession last night. I didn't. If my sister likes him, I can't help it. But I can sure discourage any dating.

"Oh! Yes, yes, I'm fine."

Soon, Sensei Wu, Zane, and Lloyd entered the room, Wu holding a letter.

"What's that letter, Master Wu?" Nya asked. Sensei Wu gestured for everyone to sit down.

"It's Sensei Dolion. He has challenged us to a fighting tournament, our team versus his. It would only last a day, but I would like to see what you all think of it."

"A fighting tournament?" Zane asked, " I want to see them in action, but I don't want to hurt them, either."

" I doubt you will." Sensei Wu responded, looking at all of his students, " They are likely very good fighters physically, like, with weapons and such; it was Dolion's strength. I feel like they would give you all a run for your money."

"But, why? Does he want to hurt us and then take over Ninjago?" Lloyd asked, fear clearly shown on his face. It was probably his inner kid showing.

Sensei shook his head. " No, I think he only wants to prove how much better his team is compared to us. So, do you want to do this?"

Nya nodded. " I say we do it. We would understand the situation a bit better, and see their skills and talents in action. It would be really useful."

"I think so, too." I said, " Let's do it."

"Unanimous, then?" Zane said, and we all agreed. Cole stood up, took the letter, and marked the date on the calendar. It was in two days.

I know I should've thought about how we may be able to help them, but the only thing that filled my mind was one selfish thought. See, we haven't fought humans recently….

This was going to be fun.

With school starting up again, my schedule is going to get a little busy. I will finish all of my stories, don't worry, but I would like to know which story I should put as the priority for updating (The Wrong Team or Stuck in the Past) I have a poll up on my profile, or you could just tell me in the reviews (or both). Again, I WILL FINISH MY STORIES!

Thanks for reading, stay tuned and review!
